Tonight, AU, Davidson and Howard (albeit against UDC) are in action.
Why U$C? How are they different from about 50 other big time athletic programs? In the PAC-12 alone, Oregon has been riding that Phil Knight money train for many years.
The University of Spoiled Children (sometimes referred to as "University of Speech Communication","University of Sports Cars", "University of Soiled Condoms" and "University of Sociopathic Chumps") was founded so that the kids of L.A.´s wealther families who were too dumb to get in to the University of California´s Lower Acheivers would have a place to go to college without having to rub elbows with the lumpen at the Cal States. For over 100 years, excepting a brief period in the late 1980´s when it was surpassed by Miami of Florida, U$C has had the highest paid football players in the land. While Oregon has found a recent benefactor to invest in facilities and snazzy uniforms, U$C has long been the best example of a rule-breaking, splashy-spending, ethics-deficient, academically-void stain on the NCAA´s "student athlete" facade. Sad that so many programs have now choosen to emulate it.

That was parody right?
USC is a top 20-25 school and football is back under Lincoln Riley.
Oregon ...
Oregon was put on three-year probation by the NCAA back in 2013 for football violations. Then followed it up in 2018 with other sports violations. Then decided in 2021-22 to commit some more? Think you got your schools confused there.

Cut the lead in half. Could be a very high scoring game 71-63 with 7 min left

Davidson survives in double OT.
Also of note, Bryant beat up on Thomas College Monday night. Tyler Brelsford ended up with 13 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals on 83% shooting.

Huge comeback for Davidson there avoiding a pretty bad loss. Lot of these game you're seeing the heavily favored team struggle this early in the season.
I think we get some real heavyweight battles coming up in the next few days.
Bellarmine Beats Louisville!!

Towson beats UMass.
I know we were all having heartburn when we lost to Towson in JC's first game at GW, but this Tiger squad is a legitimate mid-major team. Not a bad loss for UMass per se. Frank Martin looked like he was going to murder a player at one point though. Not sure why you'd want to play for him.

A little added bonus to Towson beating UMass is that there's a GW connection involving one of the Towson players. Anyone want to guess what it is?

Well there is actually two ... Chase Paar (GW player for 2 seasons) and Jeff Timberlake's son, Nicholas.

Thanks Rising! I was referring to Nicholas Timberlake, son of Jeff who was a GW assistant coach under Jarvis. I thought Chase Parr had graduated already, but that may just be the result of the last two years feeling like a decade.

FYI, Gapare (who joined UMass late) has played one minute and only has a turnover to his credit in two games.

Was watching the game last night (minimal ties to Towson hoops) and kept waiting for him to check in....

Nothing makes GW look better than a winter in Amherst spent on the bench. Life lesson learned.
