I don’t know that 6’10”, 180 would have solved our post problems anyway, though he can score the basketball.
I would imagine we are really going to push for Favour Aire.

Gotta believe that we are really pushing to get a big man (we really need several, actually--and immediate playing time is available).
The one potential bright spot could be someone who entered the portal yesterday who can rebound.
Interestingly, didn't Zeke (Armwood) come to us late in the summer after a Villanova international tour showed he wouldn't have a great role? He sure did for us.
Those summer trips might provide a hint to a player he might not fit in the way he hoped.
Can you not do that anymore with the portal deadline? Or do you just have to sit out?

Still 200 players in the portal classified as PF or C without a home (I excluded A-10 players). I'd guess somewhere between 10 to 20 would fit the bill.

Quite a list but have any of them visited GW?

Tried to take a brief look. Interestingly, JUCO, not a big thing for us, might not have any restrictions. Hard
to tell.
Grad transfers can still enter the portal and get immediate eligibility.
All others can still enter the portal but would need a waiver to be immediately eligible.

What happens to players remaining in portal with out transferring out? I assume they can return to old team assuming old school wants them? If unwanted are they then “out” of school completely!

Don't feel like checking them all, but Alexis Yetna (ex-SHU) is being followed on Twitter by CC. 8 & 8 from France.

By my calculations, we still have four scholarships left for next season. Correct?

So with Weluche-Ume, who can play wing or small ball 5, signed, correct me if I’m wrong but the roster is now:
Bishop
Jacoi
Autry
Jones
Maximus
Schroder
Buchanan
Garrett Johnson
Weluch-Ume
Keegan Harvey
So that leaves 3 scholarships available. Hopefully 1-2 bigs (a true big like Favour Aire or both Aire and Settles would be nice) and 1 more guard to give us some experienced hall handling and shooting.
Did I get it right?
Three if Cronin doesn't get a scholarship, two if he does.

I’m not demanding anything or saying anybody sucks, but 4 open scholarships does point to how this team is thin.

Agree with everyone that we need a post or two to round out the off-season, but I will say I am very happy so far. No one year rentals, our roster is now much more talented all with guys that 3-4 years of eligibility. If we can land Favour Aire this off season will be a home run for me.

I was wondering the same thing. What happens if a player like Nixon gets no offers? Is GW compelled to take him back? I would think not.

Cronin is a walk-on. Maybe that changes over time but not today.

Nope, once you go in portal the school is free and clear of any obligation.

He’ll probably go high major, but Andrew Taylor from a Marshall just entered the portal. Seems like the exact kind of player we’d want to land in the backcourt - can really shoot and has a high assist rate.
He was an extremely high usage player so maybe he would my see us as the right fit depending on what he wants, but he’s a new portal entry I’ll be interested to follow wherever he goes.

What one of the scouting services wrote about Favour Aire (as a high school player): Has a strong and long physique with the capability of putting on more weight and gaining more strength. Has a top notch motor. Runs the floor well and possesses a commitment to defend and rebound. Is a quick and strong two-foot leaper. Tracks down shot blocking opportunities. Will be able to effectively defend ball screen situations. Is a dangerous offensive rebounder. Not a ball handling threat nor a jump shooting threat at this point. Does have a reliable right hand jump hook. Primarily feeds off dump down passes for dunks and put back opportunites. Is a raw prospect all around but is developing on both sides of the basketball. Defensive is ahead of the offensive at this point.
Is there a program in the country who needs a certain type of player more than we need this guy? By the way, he is 6' 11". He played high school ball at Bishop McNamara which is noteworthy for two reasons. First, it stands to reason that as the primary DC area recruiter for Miami, CC had to be instrumental in bringing Favour to Miami. Second, he was first team All-Met during the season when Darren Buchanan was All Met POY. It is more than likely that the two know one another and have likely crossed paths in high school and playing AAU. Hopefully, one of our newest players is recruiting away.
And this weekend, I watched the movie Air. Definitely worth seeing, a predictable outcome (spoiler alert: Michael Jordan does a sneaker deal with Nike), with one aspect I wasn't wild about which I'll remain silent about until later in the summer. Presumably by then, most here who want to see it will have already done so. But the big news, there was in fact a Mike Jarvis shout-out. That was unexpectedly cool.

I saw Air this weekend too, thought it was pretty good even though Damon looks nothing like Sonny Vaccaro lol.
I also caught the Jarvis shout-out. I actually leaned over to my slightly bored wife and said, "He was the coach at GW!" She was not too interested in that tidbit either.
