Armel Potter

The rise of Armel.

Armel Potter has averaged 22 points 6 dimes and 5 boards over his last 4 games.

Against South Carolina he showed he could do it against superior competition.

Bravo To Armel Potter!

Re: Armel Potter

Armel is averaging 14 points, 4 assists and 3 boards, despite barely playing the first few games of the year.

GW is 3-1 in his 4 starts. During which Armel is averaging 20 points 6 assists and 5 boards

A shot in the arm, at just the right time for the program.

Re: Armel Potter

Same here, really nice progress.

Was a solid 2 year starter right out of the gate as a Freshman, really seeing him shine the last few weeks, great to see.

Re: Armel Potter

Armel had 22 points  5 assists and 4 rebounds, what an incredible run of games for the dynamo point Guard of GW.

Way to go Armel!

Re: Armel Potter

I presume he’ll win a10 player of the week after averaging 26 points, 6 assists, and 5 boards in a pair of wins, but the league could snub him to get media attention for one of the NCAA contenders.

Looks like a lock for player of the Week!

What a stat line.

Re: Armel Potter

Are All A10 awards based just on conference play or the full season?

Good question, both I believe?

Re: Armel Potter

Wonderful in-depth story on Armel Potter. You have to love how much his mother cared, how Mike Jarvis helped keep him at GW and how Armel overcame JC's belief that he belonged on the bench.

Re: Armel Potter

That’s outstanding and truly provide an eye-opener into his life and challenges, and also JC’s vision about the type of players he likes.

And, thank you Mika Jarvis!

Re: Armel Potter

Great success story for Armel and great flexibility exercised by JC.  Maybe because there was nothing close to being a better option, but JC recognized that while Armel did not check all of the boxes that he was looking for in his point guard, he did possess enough talent to become the floor leader on his team.

Re: Armel Potter

Article is behind a paywall.
Don't know if it revealed how bad the situation was for him in terms of JC's lack of use for him, but the few paragraphs available certainly show what it was like during the early season.
But Armel, now overrelied on after being dismissed, deserves every accolade and bit of thanks we can bestow on him just for staying on the team and believing in himself.

Re: Armel Potter

In a difficult GW season, Armel was fantastic all year. Congrats on a great Senior Season, Armel Potter, you battled to the last second of your last game, and were great fun to watch this year.

24 points 4 assist 3 rebounds 2 steals in his final GW game for Armel Potter.

Bravo and Godspeed in your future endeavors, Bravo sir.

Amen, jf!

Again, I think the verdict on JC, at this level of D1 play, is still out as a coach and recruiter.
The same can be said for Vogel as well.

Re: Armel Potter

Final season stats:   15 points, 6 assists 1 steal   46% FG 77% FT

The last we shall see of Armel and the last we shall see of any college basketball this year, strange times.

Hopefully as limited a suffering from the virus globally, as possible, and by next Fall things return to normal in the college hoops world.

I can’t figure out how to copy an actual tweet but if you click they link, it’s synergy sports listing the top 5 most productive pick and roll passers this season. Potter was number 2 in the county at 13.2 points per game, just behind Zavier Simpson.

Potter has a great year but our whole offense was PnR, so GW PG remains a prime spot for a great Pg who wants the ball in his hands and a chance to shine

Re: Armel Potter

FQ, good find.

Love the analytical stats, lot of fun to watch Armel shine this year.  No Armel, the games were.... less fun

Re: Armel Potter

Armel graduated this weekend from GW, a great guy I've been fortunate to meet a few times.

His Senior Season was electric, the team struggled but Armel was LIT AF as the youngsters would say

For you old Timers that translates to "Lit As F--k"

Congrats Armel Potter!
