Proud that Darren is part of our University - not just on the team. He gets it - he is linking his ability on the court to a bigger mission and that is awesome!!! Wising his success in. His summer camps and hoping we build a successful team around him next year!!!

Amazed to learn that there were just four sets of A10 teammates who played together for four seasons. I understand that this is the age of annual, unrestricted free agency in college basketball, but only four struck me as being quite low.
The notion of Jun, Jacoi, Garrett and Trey playing together at GW for four seasons has sadly become a pipedream. Would love to be wrong but the odds are not exactly working in our favor. Being a college basketball fan now involves "taking what you can get" so let's hope that Garrett's health issues are in the rearview mirror and that 2024-25 becomes a highly productive season.

What a really great guy, great player yes, but also a really great young man.
Blessed to have him at GW, We're going to turn this thing around, CC will get us there, the foundational bricks have been laid

A very interesting thread.

Potential NBA player without question, ideally for GW and DBJr he stays and hones his full craft 2 or more years
Adds shooting length etc, FT% etc etc
Online!
Spoke with an Assistant A10 Coach today and he told me he thinks DBJr has a chance at developing into a late 1st round pick in the next few years
Future NBA player, not hard to see the potential there regardless of when and where he goes in the draft

Watching DBJr Monday night, and all of last year, and watching him progress, I am of the view he's the best player in the League, whether he wins POY which should be an individual award not a "what guy on the team with the most wins is very good" he IS the best player in the Conference
What A10 player is better than DBJr? I dont see any, no GW bias here just an opinion
The turnaround will be built around his shoulders, even if he departs for the NBA in a year or 2

15 points and 10 boards a game for DBJr so far and 2 steals per game too, looking very much the part of the 1st Team All League player and POY contender so far

The best player in the A10 DBJr is averaging 16 and 11 so far
GW off to a 3-0 start

And there it is. You've gone from thinking that Jun is an A10 POY contender to declaring him the best player in the conference. Because of three double doubles against inferior teams lacking the size and talent to slow him down. I'll respond in two ways, one you're sure to ignore and the other I can only hope you'll take to heart.
1) We got it. We all now know that it's your belief that Jun is the conference's best player. We know you are saying this in an unbiased manner because you said so. There is no need to repeat it again and again, after every good game that Jun plays. This adds nothing to the discussion.
2) I watched you do this very same thing to James Bishop last year and how did that work out? You constantly pointed out that he deserved to be the player of the year, or at the very least, one of the top 2 or 3 players under consideration. He was neither of the two players who shared the POY award. He was not one of the 6 players on the A10 first team, nor was he one of the 6 players on the A10 second team. He did make the 3rd team so by anyone's calculation, he was not one of the conference's top 12 players last year.
That said, I would tell you that you have no idea whether JB read this board, or if DBJ presently does. You have no idea whether anyone connected to them discusses anything from this board with them or with any player. You have no idea whether you're creating any undue pressure on DBJ (or JB last year), calling him the A10's best player, whether that's your intention or not.
I'm willing to ignore a lot, including your conversation with an A10 Assistant Coach who provided you with an unofficial scouting report on Jun. But in the very small chance that a player isn't reacting well to your worship of him, like referring to a player about to start his 25th game in a GW uniform as the best player in the A10, maybe you can just realize that everyone knows your opinion and stop continuing to express it again and again.

"Can't Stop, Won't Stop" is the theory here Gwmayhem.

While I certainly wouldn't argue that Jun is the best player in the A10 (Rasheer Fleming of St. Joes is the only A10 player currently on the NBA's Big Board of the Top 100 NBA prospects for 2025, at 48), I think it is important to note that being the best player in the A10 is not the same thing as being the A10 POY. As has been noted here many times, the POY award almost always goes to a player on a Top 4 team, and generally to the best player on the best team. The all conference awards are all heavily skewed towards the better teams. So while James may have been third team last year, there is no way there were 10-14 players better than him in the A10 last year. I wouldn't say he was the best player (Holmes was actually drafted), but I would say he was top 5 based on individual skills and accomplishments alone. It's a shame that even now that he has left, James continues to be consistently denigrated on this board. It was not his fault that GW was bad for his entire four years here...

Way to go Barry! just what the board needs, the former Admin perpetuating these nonsense personal attacks that somehow for 5 years you were unable to detect. Way to lead by example BGF!
Bravo. Try to keep GW hoops to GW hoops, under your half decade the board was a non stop green light for fake name personal attacks that brought down the prior board. If the board can't have a modicum of proper Admin its time to just start anew, wipe out all the fake names and personas and call it a day.
If the site is just a collection of fake names trashing GW and the few people who actually support the program with their time and $$$, what's the point of this site?
Bravo BGF and thank goodness you're not running the site anymore, bravo sir

DC Native, it's not my intent to denigrate James in the slightest who inarguably was a great player for GW. And your point about best player vs. POY is fair although 12 guys made the first and second teams and not all of them played for top conference programs. I would ask you whether JB was top 5 based on skills and accomplishments over the course of his career (easier for me to agree with), or top 5 based on last season alone (more difficult for me to agree with).
Dude, when you do nothing more than simply react to someone else's response to the thread, it does make me wonder if you really understand the point I am making in the first place. Hopefully you do, and to use your vernacular, will abide.

I remain dumbfounded by how bothered some of you seem to be by Dude's posts. If you don't like it, don't respond. If you think he is clogging up the board with his posts and creating of new threads, then when you respond to them, you are doing the same. The more time spent talking about actual basketball on here, the better, which applies to everyone

Amen.
And Jun is arguably the highest potential player in the A10 but he’s going to have show he can do it against teams that can more or less match him athletically while he is the focal point of the defense.
