Straight from the GW Department of Spin: The school reports that GW has now won 18 consecutive nonconference games, the second longest streak since the program won 27 in a row at home (out of conference) from 2012-2016. Yup, this is a fact even when accounting for two of these 18 wins coming against D2 opponents. To offer just a touch of clarity, the 27 game streak included two victories over Rutgers as well as wins over Georgia, DePaul, UVA (#6 in the country at that time), Penn State, Seton Hall, and Florida in the NIT. The best win during the current 18 game streak was a win over Hofstra and there isn't a close second. (The win over South Carolina was followed by a loss to AU and is therefore not part of the current streak.)
I don't want to diminish the accomplishments of our players who can only beat who is placed in front of them. Given how many times Jamion's teams slipped up in the OOC (as did CC's first GW team), there is something to be said for taking care of business and beating teams you are supposed to beat. Winning 18 in a row at anything or against anyone is worthy of praise. At the same time, I find even the most subtle reference in comparing this to the 2012-16 streak to be patronizing. The implication I take from this is that we could play a comparable home schedule next season, go 9-0 in these games, and then the current team would have equaled the prior streak, which again may be factually the case but is also incredibly deceptive to say the least.
I think our sports communications folks really ought to know better and are opening themselves up to criticism when they write things in such a way that it appears they're trying to pull a fast one over the fans of this program.

Seems to me most folks, except the denizens of this speck of the internet would notice your accurate description of the schedule gap between the 2 teams. Besides how long has it been since there has been anything slightly positive about the team's record? Guess what it does make beyond clear is unless there is some crazy infusion of cash, the level of OOC schedule won't change. The cosmetic change I'd like to see is always playing AU and Howard with an occasional northeastern school or two thrown in.
