So much for the so called "beating the teams you're supposed to beat." With VCU on the horizon, let's note that CC is 1-1 against those Rams, with the loss coming at home by just 6 points two seasons ago. Just when you thought that maybe CC really happens to like Rams (he is 2-1 against URI with both wins on the road), it should be pointed out that Fordham is one of two A10 teams that CC has yet to defeat (0-2 with a trip next month to play those Rams in the Bronx ).
The other team who CC has failed to defeat in three tries? That would somewhat inexplicably be Duquesne. Meanwhile, CC is a combined 7-1 against St. Bonaventure (3 wins, 2 on the road), Davidson (2-0) and Dayton (2-1). He's also won at Loyola (1-1 overall). Sure looks like he's done a fantastic job until you peruse this group:
Probably not a cheesesteak guy:
LaSalle 1-5
St. Joe;s 1-3
Virginia is not for lovers:
Richmond 2-4
Geo. Mason 2-4
Didn't we always used to beat them:
UMASS 1-3
Not to worry, nobody wins at their place:
SLU 1-2
Point being that in CC's limited tenure, it does appear that he has little trouble getting his team ready to play the conference's better teams, while the middle to poor teams on the whole have more or less had his number.
