Personally, I think the NIL era is destroying college basketball.   Throw in college sports gambling which will also taint the game, and I hold almost no hope for the future of any team, much less a small time player like GW.

Without a doubt. The genie is out of the bottle though and I don't know that you can put it back in. Within 5-10 years, there will be schism among the P4 schools plus a few and everyone else. Without football, GW will not have a seat at the P4 plus table sadly. We will one day look back at 1993 like some look back at the Sun Bowl for GW football. Sad.

Re: Jim Larranaga steps down

Yes, the "power" conferences continue to find new and innovative ways to consolidate their power and advantages over other conferences, and there is nothing that we can do about it. Which is why I don't spend any time worrying about how we compare to power conference schools, whether we are playing these schools in the OOC, or whether we will ever again get an at-large bid for the NCAA Tournament. Instead, my goals for the program are: 1) lose as few games as possible against teams from low major conferences (like American, although only one such loss this year is much better than the multiple such losses in recent years); 2) try to schedule more schools from other mid-major conferences in the OOC; 3) be competitive in the Atlantic 10 (which should be composed of comparable schools - if not, realignment will eventually resolve any outliers); and 4) win some A10 Tournament games, and perhaps sometimes win it all and go dancing.

I'm shocked that Jai Lucas got the job and not CC!
Fond memories of John Lucas in Cole Field House as a kid.
