This is what makes March Madness so great!! Full of surprises. Even though the lead evaporated on a tipped in missed free throw, Trey clutched out. Let’s not forget the team effort that led most of the game. They did a lot right until a few bad minutes. And Johnson was freakin unstoppable.
After LaSalle/St. Joes for the 47th time this year, looking forward to the next round and revenge on Mason in front of a big crowd. LETS GO!!! BRING IT REVS

Wow, what a finish! We had seen that movie so many times: GW has a sizable lead in the second half, only to blow it and lose. But this time, stud Trey Autry bails us out with not one, not two but THREE huge three pointers to seal the victory! WOW
Props to CC for getting his first A-10 tournament win (I believe). Was great to see GW fans getting loud at the end of the game.

1. If anyone deserves to be a Nike school and wear warmup shirts that say "Nothing Easy", it's the 2024-25 GW Revolutionaries. Absolutely no lead is large enough squander yet nevertheless, the team often finds a way.
2. Until Trey's heroics, GW looked lost offensively against Fordham's second half zone. It was very disconcerting to look that unsure in March. While it gives me cause to wonder why more teams don't zone us, most coaches aren't going to pull this out unless it's something the practice and are fairly competent at.
3. Our offense in the first half was often a thing of beauty. Best half from Sean Hansen all season. And while I wondered whether Jun was somehow being "saved" until conference tournament time, there was little question that he was far more engaged and directly responsible for the team's success. Jun doesn't have to be used as a weapon on every possession but using him as a decoy on every possession wastes his talent.
4. Everyone will remember "Trey's three treys" (trademark pending) but here's something else that was great to see. Early in the game, Trey missed a 3 out of the corner. On the next possession, Trey buried a 3 from practically the exact same spot. Kudos to the team for going right back to him, and to Trey for not shying away from the moment.
5. Sometimes, you see the fruits of good coaching right before your eyes. Based on what I saw, it was very apparent that after a first half where the team shot 3-13 from 3, the players were told to pump fake and take a dribble as Fordham defenders were overplaying on three point shots. GW shot 7-14 from 3 in the second half and I'm guessing 4-5 of those 3's were executed as instructed.
6. Defensively, I thought GW was very hit and miss. Johnson was just incredible and there's just not a lot that can be done when a guy is routinely making 25 footers. We did a nice job on Medor who was held to 3-15 shooting after scoring 25 the day before. Steals were low and overall, the ball pressure was not what we're used to seeing. Perhaps out of respect for their backcourt.
7. Did anyone else notice Keith Urgo giving what looked like "death-stares" to Chris Caputo on several occasions? What's up with this? Any animosity between these two for any reason?
8. Jacoi has looked better and better, not necessarily his jump shot, but every other facet of his game. 10 points (big free throws), 3 assists, and 0 turnovers yesterday.
9. There's so much to like about Slim's game as he normally stuffs the stat sheet (17 and 8, with 4 assists, 1 steal, and just 1 turnover). Last night, I may have been most impressed with his 5-6 from the foul line. Especially important considering Jun went 6-11.
10. One of the great things about going to the tournament is to talk with fans of other schools. Had a good time unsatisfactorily trying to explain to someone why we are now the Revolutionaries ("Bullets, Redskins, Colonials? What is it about this city?" the guy asked. And, being among St. Joe's and La Salle fans during game 2 was just amazing.

CC said at the post-game press conference that we usually thrash the zone. I don't remember teams zoning us often during the season so I have no reason to doubt him.

Urgo was screaming at his own players a couple of times and had to be held back by his assistants. I'm guessing it's his personal issue rather than any animosity (beyond getting whipped by us a week ago).
