Sorry to hear that John Feinstein passed away.

He was a good friend to the A10, they should have had a moment of silence for him before the game.

Wow, really sorry to hear that. Seems like I heard an interview with him just a few weeks ago in which he was talking about all the books he was planning to write. I agree that he actually cared about GW and the A10. And he was a huge advocate for Navy.

John Feinstein was actually supposed to be at Capitol One Arena covering today's A-10 tournament games. They left the seat vacant that he was supposed to be in tonight. I posted the picture down below. I haven't caught today's games but I assume the announcers would mention his passing during the night games since he was a big fan/advocate for the A-10 and GW baskettball for a long time.

Very touching, Thomas. What a shame. I really liked the guy and will miss him.

John Feinstein was an unbelievable friend to GW along with the rest of local college ball. For years anytime GW was any good he wrote a column about the team.
Then there is the BB&T.
In that vein, just bc GTN left us in 79 there is ZERO reason for not scheduling AU every year! What AU is going to ruin our NET, when we love yo schedule 1st D1 schools?!?!

In a perfect world, I would love to see a John Feinstein classic, where GW, Maryland, Georgetown and American play each other in a tournament every year. Its what the BB&T classic always should have been, and would be a great way to honor him.

He will be sorely missed. I heard the news on the way to yesterday's game and like most people, was absolutely stunned. He did not sign a new contract to appear Friday mornings with the Sports Junkies. Wonder if he was ill around that time (around the first of the year) and chose to keep everything private? John was one of those personalities who knew a lot about many sports while also being happy to admit when he did not know about a subject. Very genuine guy and obviously, an outstanding writer. A Season on the Brink started it all but if you are a golf fan, his books about Q-School, Tom Watson's caddy, The Majors, and a Good Walk Spoiled are all outstanding. A great (and sometimes seemingly only) friend to GW basketball representing the Post. RIP.

Fantastic idea. If only someone could make this work.

I agree that would be great, although to honor John Feinstein, it would probably need to include Navy. You could throw in Howard as well, and the event could have three games, with the opponents rotated each year. Its a pipe dream, but fun to contemplate.

Couldn't agree more with the concept that the very best way to honor John, who meant so much to local basketball (and other sports !), would be the aforementioned Feinstein Classic. If only.......

Maybe Feinstein will apologize to Buddy Teevens, wherever they meet in the afterlife, for blaming him for his death at the hands of a motorist.

Why exclude George Mason, especially when you've suggested Navy & Howard?

Would be happy not hearing the name George Mason for awhile
Needless to say, our collapse made the front page of the sports section.
Of course.
