Re: Welcome Darren Buchanan!

I read - wouldn’t assume that means he’s gone.

Re: Welcome Darren Buchanan!

if he leaves I'd expect him to stay in the DMV
but then he limits his options

i doubt if UMD and Georgetown want him or can/will offer a better NIL package
no NIL money at Howard
unsure of the NIL status at American - but they are dancing this season

GMU will rebuild via the Transfer Portal after their season ends
Unsure if they want him and what his NIL Package would be

don't see him going down to Div II or III

staying at GWU may be his best DMV option

Re: Welcome Darren Buchanan!

Castro should realize that his numbers at GW were terrific. Not so at Providence where he didn't get much playing time. Maybe that will discourage him from moving to a higher conference again. Of course, NIL money talks and if he gets an offer he can't refuse, goodbye Mr. Castro!

Re: Welcome Darren Buchanan!

I like Rutgers for Jun.  They will obviously be losing two huge stars in Harper and Bailey.  Their offense is not overly reliant upon three point shooting.  Rutgers ranked #201 in three point attempts, and shot nearly 3 more per game than it had the prior season.

It's interesting that GW's best win all season helped seal Jun's fate in a way.  The team made 15 3's in blowing out Dayton without Jun.  It would soon become apparent that what worked so well a year prior, Jun essentially with the ball in his hands almost every possession, was rendered far less effective with Slim also on the court.   One thing you can't say about CC is that he's not a man of his convictions.  He took the ball out of JB's hands during his final year of college basketball in favor of Jun being the focal point of the offense (think how difficult a decision that must have been), and then reversed course again when he saw what his offense could look like without Jun bull rushing.

Jun should be able to develop his midrange game at Rutgers.  What will be interesting is whether they will play him much like CC played him during his first season.  Yes he'll be going up against much better defenders but he should also have more talented teammates to work with.  Does Jun's unique skill set only work against inferior competition or will his combination of size, strength, speed, and ball handling give him an advantage even against a much higher level of competition?  It will be interesting to observe.

Isn't he going to be outsized in the Big 18? He's going to be going up against forwards who are 6-9 and bigger every night.
