Great call FQ on the Van De Ven goal. Absolutely reminded me of my former star player.
I agree that the answer would not have been to keep Castro on the bench for the rest of the second half with two fouls. However, the head scratcher was sitting him for less than 4 minutes before putting him back in. He picked up his third less than a minute later so at this point, he was finished for the half with more than 13 minutes remaining. Sure, he could have picked up a quick third foul no matter when you put him back in, but I certainly would have kept him on the bench longer with his two fouls.
And your last point on this makes the most sense. CC had to know that he could take this chance against Maine far more readily than he would against a better opponent.

Maine played Rutgers tonight. Rutgers only one by 12. Insofar as Rutgers was ranked basically the same as us (they were 77 going into the game), but win by just 12 (they were KenPom favored by 19), that helps our 20 point margin look even stronger.
As a result, Rutgers drops to 82 and we move up to 75 at the moment.
Forgot to mention , Buchanan had 10 points, 5 assists, 1 rebound, 3 turnovers in 25 minutes. I just saw most of the first half and he looked about the same as last year.
