The model thing sounds cool. In my day the practice facility was the Tin Tabernacle and the games at Ft. Meyer. An on-campus facility was only a dream.  We had to take a bus over there to see our games.  Is it my imagination that the attendance at the Smith Center is about the same as it was at Ft. Meyer?  We thought the attendance would double with an on campus facility.

You know, I don’t actually have knowledge of the old capacity was at the Tin Tabernacle.  I can’t say that when I was a GW as a student in the 80s and working in the building in the 90s, we thought Student apathy was a problem. I remember for some games we’d have three or 400 students out of the capacity of about 1600 that we had available. Today, it feels like that’s the norm.

And I don’t really blame the students. We have these weeknight games and a huge number of students don’t even live on campus. They can’t bring bags into the Smith center now, so that makes it even harder for somebody coming from the other campus to come to a game.

And it’s obvious that we now live in a very online world, with plenty of distractions for students and adults alike. Not to mention that the games are all televised on ESPN plus now, which is great, But it doesn’t necessarily motivate people to come out when their couch is so comfortable.

I know this sounds like an old guy rant, but this is just not a situation that’s gonna ever change.

Just fyi if you are a season ticket holder, I believe you can contact the ticket office and they’ll arrange for a replica to get sent to you at your address

Get well soon Barry. It seems that when people our age get a bug it takes longer to recover. My doctor says that as we get older we need a lot more Vitamin D. I thought I was taking enough but my last tests showed I was just at the acceptable level. Taking more has helped me recover from my bugs more quickly.
