That was the first time in NCAA history a team outscored back to back AP Ranked opponents by 30+ points.
Dusty May, still in his 40s, took Florida Atlantic to a Final 4 and has in year 2 already turned Michigan into a behemoth.

GW opens as a -2.5 favorite on the road

In theory, this is the ideal matchup to have had 2 1/2 weeks to prepare for (not that every waking second was spent on Richmond). Only because they play so differently than most teams GW will face. My five keys to the game are:
1) Richmond defends the 3 very well. This is a "take what the defense gives you" point. If the Spiders commit to overextending along the perimeter, then GW will need to score plenty of points in the paint.
2) Don't worry about getting anyone into foul trouble. They legitimately play 11 guys, so I am unconvinced that getting any one player into foul trouble will be overly beneficial. They also shoot free throws well so keep them off the line.
3) They take care of the ball very well. In other words, it's not the day to set up two man traps that are largely ineffective and lead to odd man breaks.
4) They also pass well. Particularly when finding backdoor cutters. Year in and year out, we know it's coming and yet often seem helpless to defend against it. That's where this long break hopefully comes into play.
5) Last year, GW could not have played a worse first half, went +21 to turn an 8 point deficit into a 13 point lead, and still managed to lose. The lesson that's hopefully been learned is that Richmond plays for 40 minutes so GW must as well. Richmond will have confidence that they can come back against GW. No letting up today.

Garrett Johnson is OUT
Adjust your wagers accordingly

Not a good thing for the league schedule. Hope he can return as soon as is good for
Garrett.
We need to make even more use of Castro than we have.

Great half by the good guys! I’m loving 5-7 from the 3 from Dinkins!

Dinkins Drumgooling Richmond

Buckle down on defense, feed the ball inside, get to the foul line. They may overplay the three point defense in the second half, Castro should punish that. Let's get our of here with a win. Fundamentals.

Good half to see.
Team shooting like they realize they owe LSF for suffering through the Caymans tournament.
Be unusual if it persisted, so need to be prepared in case we don't rain 3s in the second half.
But Castro is a major weapon if we can get the ball
to him.
Jones (victim of phantom foul call) and Dinkins on for the first half.
Great pass by Autry to Castro.

Or keep shooting 61% from floor, 53% from 3 and maintain 11-3 assist to turnover ratio (which was 9-0 for the first 15 minutes of the game until we turned it over on 3 straight possessions)

Cut down on fouls. FTs keeping Richmond in game. Did I hear announcers right that Johnson undergoing chemo? Hope not true.
announcers homers but pretty good anyway.

The 10 3’s are nice, as well as only 3 turnovers.
Marshall and Bubu are really bothering them on the perimeter. These close outs have gotten better. Loved Castros swat!! We shot 1 freaking foul shot to their 14, hmmm.
Just maintain the energy, play loose, and keep having fun so we can too.
