I enjoyed watching this game. Felt like most of the pieces were moving well.
Most glaring issues are missed FT, bad threes, and poor timeouts.
Really proud of the team for hanging tough.

Same ols same old! We led this game for 33 minutes and again we fall apart down the stretch. Caputo can't win the big one unless his guys shoot 60% from three and his players make mistake after mistake at the end of games. This is incredibly painful!

Brutal! Totally lost track of Avila. Would have been HUGE, but No. Glad they came back after getting boat raced for 4-5 minutes

A heartbreaker of a loss given the comeback, but was pleasantly surprised by the comeback when they got down 7. Baby steps. Hopefully this gives them some confidence for the A-10 Tournament. They can definitely hang with anyone in the conference.

If GW does not start 0-5 from the line. If GW does not miss another plethora of layups. If GW does not let SLU get that three to end the half. Coulda. Woulda. Shoulda.
RevsBall opening day is Feb 13 at Western Caroline, the home opener is Feb 20 vs Lehigh.

Caputo is paid a good deal of money to come in first and he can't when it really counts.

Tyrone? Same old story. Can't win close games. Wow.

Amazing that the difference in this game was that prayer from 40 feet at the end of the half that almost broke the backboard and went in. The basketball gods were with the ugly billikens. It was like the Heidi game blacking out for me. Couldn’t even watch to the end.
Proud of the heart they showed and nobody is going to want us in the tournament-go Revs!!!

The problem wiith GW fans is that we too easily accept mediocrity or failure and, at the same time, give the coach an extension. We repeat this time after time. I'm sick of hearing what a great game we played after a loss.

I believe we are 0-8 in games decided by 12 points or less.

On the glass half full side of things, at least I only had to read “ Tyrone Marshall Jr. bad pass turnover” instead of having to witness it with my own eyes. I could have written it myself tho. For those who saw, did Caputo have him take the inbounds at a crucial point yet again? Or was it all just bang bang.

haha what? this has got to be some kind of record

Tyrone should not be on the court in these situations. GMU bad pass turnover, St. L bad pass turnover. L. Caputo has lost every one of our close games. He just doesn't know how to coach a team in clutch situations.

Again, we melted. 15-0 run. I’m telling you and I will repeat it until one of these guys hopefully reads this, gets mad enough, and decides enough is enough … we lack grit and leadership. Talent will only get you so far. You can check all the analytics at the door. Without grit and leadership you won’t win on nights like tonight, at Dayton, at Mason etc. Let’s face it all of those teams are grittier than we are. Talent isn’t the problem. It never was this year. If we had grit and leadership we would be St. Louis or Mason. Instead we are 13-8/4-4. That’s the difference.

Eight losses already this season. Last year we lost only 12. No way we finish with as good a record as last year even with more returning starters than any team in the league and more talent than last year. It's coaching, coaching, coaching. Our opponent always makes second half adjustments and we do not!

In conference play, we so far only lost one game we were predicted to win (Davidson). If you look at ESPN, the only game left in conference play we’re predicted to lose from here on is at VCU. Not saying we’ll live up to the prediction for every other game, just saying that, at least in conference play we’re doing almost exactly as expected and the harder road games came early. And for all three hard road games (Dayton, GMU, SLU) we lost by single digits. All of our home wins, we won by double digits. This team is good - but the A10 is good this year so it’s tough.

You sir are a real optimist! I've been a GW fan far too long to buy into that.

1-8. We beat South Florida by like 5. That is still a crazy stat that I don't think I've ever seen before from a basketball team.

It’s ma’am actually. But you’re right that I’m probably being too optimistic. Hoping not!

Exactly, as I mentioned earlier in the thread. It's clear to me that this team is not one of those special GW teams that comes along once a decade or so, as many of us had hoped. They just can't put it together down the stretch in close games. At the same time, this team is significantly better than we have been in a while. Three of our 4 losses in conference are games I fully expected us to lose, and there is only one more really tough one from here on out. I for one am looking forward to seeing a lot of wins down the stretch.
