Re: GW vs Saint Louis A10 Tourney Game Thread

Sorry, but all the money wasted on the moniker name change made a big difference in attendance. Students really came out to support all events. Administration was right again.

Re: GW vs Saint Louis A10 Tourney Game Thread

The name change was just another way to piss the alumni off. It was an evenly divided vote overall and actual GW degreed alumni no doubt rejected it), but that didn't matter. GW under a different administration did it anyway.
They wanted to appease the customers, many of whom left town without a GW degree, while us poor idiot paying and donating alumni were left on the sidelines. Literally, since the students largely didn't go to the games then.
These are the people whose factually proven wrong concept of correctness led to the destruction of our
program 10 years ago.
We had a slight upward trajectory under CC, who hopefully can still right the ship.
But still for a decade, we've been begging for scraps of recognition. Guess why?

Very fitting that this monumentally disappointing season end with a monumentally disappointing loss.  The question is...who is the first to announce for the portal.   I can't see anybody on the team who is a lock to stay.

Players most likely to leave--

1. Johnson. Regressed in the second half, got demoted in his role. Maybe slightly injured. CC always loses faith in a veteran player as the season progresses. Buchanan last year, Johnson this year. Can definitely see Johnson having success at a better program with real coaching.

1a. Bevins. Never got off the bench

Autry is probably the one I'm most split on. He could leave because he's got talent and CC seems to go hot and cold on him, getting him lots of minutes or making him 8th man. But he never really gets benched.

Jones stays because CC loves him and he's the best guard on the team.
Bubu stays unless he leaves for a smaller school to get more PT
Aranguren stays because he's also a CC fave and improved immensely under CC. Don't see why he'd give up this good thing for him, but perhaps he gets inspired to move up.

Disagree about Johnson. I don’t think CC lost faith in him at all.  Sure he became a bench player but I think that was realistic given he wasn’t playing as well as his freshman year pre-health issues and sat out several games this year for health too.  He still got a lot of playing time, including in critical moments and he clearly was told to keep shooting 3’s even when they weren’t falling.  Also given his health stuff, I imagine staying close to home and close to his medical team is necessary.

I also cant imagine Autry leaves. He’s a total glue guy, a coaches son (in a time when coaches seem to universally hate the constant transferring) and he was a starter all year with plenty of great games.  He seems loyal. I’ll be so so sad if I’m wrong.

Agree JC and CJ stay, or at least def JC. I wondered if CJ was gonna feel like he lost his job to JC but CJ remained a starter and picked up his productivity in the last few games.

What about Luke?  Does he have one more year of eligibility? If so, can’t imagine he goes. He became a starter. He’d be taking over for Castro (unless hopefully we can land another great big).  Frankly he played much better with Castro out. And I imagine he’d want to finish whatever grad degree he’s getting.

Bubu seems more like a toss up, doesn’t have the history that Autry/Johnson have, and could likely get more playing time elsewhere. But who knows?

Ty was injured - obv barely played before that, so unclear if he sat out rest of year to get medical redshirt or to preserve eligibility to play elsewhere.

What about the other freshman Jalen RR and V Chaudri? Were they both injured? Or was it like CJ where the coaches encouraged them to redshirt so they could improve before starting for real?

Re: GW vs Saint Louis A10 Tourney Game Thread

The two freshman were redshirted from the start kinda like CJ his freshman year.

JRR had an injury so his redshirt was more due to that.

Vinny was a healthy redshirt like Christian with the goal to get stronger and get up to college speed.

I guess I could see both transferring depending on who we bring in, but we did just give them a free year to train so I would imagine they’re in our plans for next season.
