CC himself would agree he needs to be held accountable. He will quickly get over this season (like the previous 3) courtesy of the non-deserving extension. Things aren't going to change for the next few years.

To be clear, I am not disagreeing with any comments pertaining to CC's rigidness or failure to adjust strategies based on an opponent. All I'm suggesting is that CC could have pushed every correct button last night and I still wouldn't be convinced that GW was winning that game last night. Were any of Slim's 7 turnovers the fault of CC? Did you think it was his idea to just allow Jake Hall to break the game open by connecting on one wide open three after the next?
Actually, UNM shot more threes and shot them more accurately in the 2nd half (despite stepping off the gas the last couple of mins) and, why? Because they adjusted at halftime and GW did not and looked surprised at the increased shooting from outside. And was Slim turning the ball over because he wanted to or because in the 2nd UNM shut down lanes on defense after talking things over at the half?
That IS on the coaches, either by not anticipating the shifts and warning the team about them or by not studying the scouting book enough to know about Hall's step back move and UNM's ability to close spaces on defense.
As to the greater point of would GW had won without those things, if CC had outcoached his counterpart then maybe (if Mashall had not been SirHacksAlot and Dinkins had not chucked up the ill advised shots and if Castro had not soaked his hands in canola oil and if a snowstorm or 2x1 deal at the local Applebees had kept the fans away and...)

On this I agree….we are stuck with him….literally. Somebody here in the last week or so said that Lipitz gambled and lost. He (like the rest of us) thought even an average coach could manage this team to a top 4 or 5 spot in the conference, Rather than (in his mind) lose leverage as the season went along and he met those expectations, or worse, possible lose the “hot, up and coming coach,” he pulled the trigger on an extension that would at least offer some financial return if Caputo got lured away. How’d that work out?
