Re: Jamison Battle

Jamison drills a 3 to give Toronto the lead over Cleveland in the fourth quarter

Close game, Toronto seeking to take a 3-2 series lead before heading to Toronto for game 6

Battle having a great series as a rotational piece, scores 7 points in few minutes stretch on 3-4 shooting

Re: Jamison Battle

would not have guessed when he was a freshman in 2019 that he'd be described as a "great defender" during important minutes of a close NBA playoff game. GW also got a shoutout last night when the broadcast asked whether it was GW, Minnesota, or Ohio State that taught him to defend.

Once again the Dude sticks the dagger in a team. Toronto loses and is now down 3-2. Not a great idea to post mid-game.

Re: Jamison Battle

Game 6 in Toronto, Jamison drills a 3 upon entering the game propelling His team into the lead.

Playing a pivotal role in this playoff series, could be headed for a game seven

Meanwhile the Knicks jumped out to a 72-22 lead and #1 seed Detroit major peril down at the half by 22 down 3-2 in the series

76ers pushing Boston to game 7, pretty wild first round of the Eastern conference playoffs!

Re: Jamison Battle

Jamison is back for another season with the Raptors

Last we saw him he was scoring 14 points in the 4th Quarter on perfect shooting powering Toronto to a Game 3 playoff win over Cleveland in a 7 game series vs the Cavs.  JB shot 63.6 from 3 across the 7 game series.

Jameer Jr had 6 points tonight for the Sixers.   The 2nd leading scorer on a Big 12 NCAA Tournament team, good to see JNJr in the league.  Jameer had 45 points in a G League game last season.

  • Points: 45

  • Rebounds: 7

  • Assists: 4

  • Field Goal Shooting: 62% (16-of-26 shooting)

  • Three-Pointers Made: 8-of-13 from deep

If he and Castro end up sticking on teams this year, along with Jamison would bring the total of GW NBA players in the league to 3.

Another example of blatant manipulation designed to paint GW basketball with the rosiest-colored brush possible.  Battle and JNJ both transferred away from GW.  In fact, they each played for two other schools after GW.  Any discussion about GW players who are playing or have played in the NBA should not include these two players.  Similarly, should anyone refer to Slim as a Providence player?

It's perfectly fine to follow their careers and root for their success.  But let's not refer to players who transferred away from GW as GW players.  I get the temptation since we don't exactly send a ton of players to the NBA.  Nevertheless, guys who left have GW, particularly before graduating, should not be regarded this way.

In the past that would have been 100% correct. But in the free agency era I am not so sure, especially since actually graduating no longer appears to be a priority in the professional era of NCAA sports. Put it this way, say there is a guy who starts in the Padres system but makes the Bigs playing for Baltimore. Folks in the town where he played Class A ball can claim him as one of theirs even though he went later went on to another club´s Class A affiliate and several other minor league teams before getting called to The Show, right? I fear we are entering that type of dichotomy with "college" sports.

Re: Jamison Battle

We'll agree to disagree GWAA.  I think that clinging to a guy who spent three more years playing college basketball, after spending two seasons at GW before voluntarily leaving, as one of our own is not a great look.  It also undermines guys like Mike Brown, Pops and Yuta.

Re: Jamison Battle

Jamison Battle was +22 tonight off the bench for Toronto, 8 points in 11 minutes, 2-2 from 3   3-4 from the field

Toronto looks like they will be very good this year with Kawhi Leonard back in town
