Castro is under an "exhibit 10" contract. I had no idea what that was until I asked my gal at ChatGBT and this is what she told me:
An Exhibit 10 contract is a one-year NBA contract at the league minimum salary that starts out nonguaranteed. It is commonly used to bring a player into training camp to compete for a spot. There are three usual outcomes:

So if I understand LSF´s post correctly, this means he only gets some coin if he signs with LA´s D-League team and sticks with them for 60 days¡ Might be time to start a European adventure.

Unfortunate news but not entirely unexpected either. The way that guarantees and contracts are constructed, it makes it very difficult for a player like Slim to secure a spot. I hope he uses this as fuel be it in the G league or overseas. He wouldn't be the first player to wait a bit before joining the League. His dream isn't dead, just delayed.

Ok. Castro cut by Lakers. Not a stunning surprise.
But unlike all the other Exhibit 10 players who were cut, he didn't sign with their G League team.
News reports say Rafael is "mysteriously missing" from Lakers G League team, even though Lakers have frontcourt needs.
This on top of 2-way contract with the Rockets that went nowhere after what,a few days or seemingly not much more.
That was after the excitement of Castro's sided and maybe us posting about his signing a 2-way contract with Minnesota. But that never materialized.
Given the lack of pro restrictions,he probably should have come back to us. That would normally seem a joke. And should be impossible, since he signed two pro contracts.
Back in the real world, can't tell if Rafael's agent (haven't bothered to look him up) is a genius ,getting him opportunities he wouldn't have gotten this year?
Or inept, blowing Castro's good prospects for the G League now/ real NBA look sometime in future?
Seems like yet another "signing," or opportunity must be in the works from the Lakers mystery. Hopefully one that sticks.
