I feel this is great news! Speaking only for myself, providing mentorship to those who'd like the opportunity to do well in life is something I'd love to see instituted as part of the program and recuiting process! The fact that GW is sponsoring this event makes me very proud.

Nice to see GW take a leadership role

BC, thank you for sharing this information. I am really proud to know GW and JC are taking a leadership position. Speaking only for myself, I am so happy that we're leaning forward into a space that needs addressing. And we're doing it with commitment. I imagine Tonya and other GW personnel are involved too, although perhaps more behind the scenes. I hope one day GW opens this up to all of us and we can find a way to make a difference, not only for our great athletes, but for the larger community. Please keep the information coming, and thank you once again!

That's quite a list of names(Leonard Hamilton, Tubby Smith, Shaka Smart, Tommy Amaker, Mike Davis, Lorenzo Romar etc.) participating in this 360 Mentorship town hall who can provide some in-depth perspective on what's going on in the country and all over the world right now, as George Floyd's death, Police Brutality, Institutional Racism and COVID has appeared to bring everything to a halt and forced all of us to address these issues!!
Another interesting aspect of the current events is that we're seeing black college football players at predominately white schools taking a stand against what they perceive as racist or racially insensitive behavior from their coaches/schools. Oklahoma State star running back Chuba Hubbard openly voiced his displeasure with his coach Mike Gundy wearing a OAN shirt. OAN is a network that leans in the MAGA direction, to put it nicely!! Florida State star defensive tackle Marvin Wilson also openly called out his coach Mike Norvell for lying about discussing the George Floyd case with everyone on the team. Both Mike Gundy and Mike Norvell gave video apologies for their actions. I'm not sure that these events would have occurred if it weren't for the current climate of the country.
I'll be interested to hear how guys like Tubby Smith, Shaka Smart, Lorenzo Romar, Tommy Amaker, Jamion Christian and others address these topics as they have been in the same situation as some of the current black college football players who are using their platform to speak out against racial insensitivity at the predominately white schools that they attend.

BC, thanks. I didn't mean to make it into too much of a big deal. It's just that I read all those well known coaches were involved and thought it was just great news. And to see GW and JC involved in such a visible way, was extremely encouraging to me. Thanks again for passing along the information, and I apologize if I got a little to excited about the news.

Thomas, I feel you make excellent points and I will also be interested to see what the leadership team says on these subjects. I am not trying to be controversial, but I am glad to see Confederate statues being taken down and the legitimacy of certain American "heroes" being called into question, including our very own George Washington, the owner of 317 slaves. Can we, as a people, revere a slave owner, even if he was the "father of our country"? I'm glad to see the U of F banned the Gator Bait Chomp. When will Roger Goodell finally tell Daniel Snyder to either change the name of his team or sell the team?

This has a dual role of being helpful to those who cab benefit from the seminars--and should be a very positive and timely development for GW basketball, at least in the coaching
community.
The GW pr machine should be able to get significant publicity for it.
Would have, of course, liked to see Mike Jarvis on the Legends list, but perhaps he had a scheduling conflict.
