Just wanted to check with folks here. I was always under the impression that there were 3 local schools with George in their name, two named after people, one after a geographic area. Washington Post had an article by Chuck Culpepper in this morning’s paper, “As basketball season nears, scheduling is madness.” He had passing mention of the uncertainty of one school’s participation in a national tournament and a much more detailed discussion with quotes from the HC from another George school about their difficulties in scheduling under the pandemic. No mention of the 3rd George school. I’ve never seen the point in worrying about or bashing the Post for how it covers local sports but I did find it interesting that there was so much discussion about what schools outside the area were facing yet focused on only 1 local school. Guess my question is - am I mistaken in thinking there are more than 2 George schools in the area playing D1 hoops and only 1 deserving of detailed coverage in an article about general scheduling problems for college? Not even asking for a friend, just me.

Poog, you buried the lead. The mighty University of Maryland was not mentioned even once in a college basketball article that appeared in the Post.
I am willing to give the Post a break here. This was really an article about the sport's difficulties with scheduling and not at all meant to cover any local team specifically. Paulsen was interviewed for the article but this was meant to cite an example of these difficulties as opposed to providing any real insights regarding Mason's program. Gtown was mentioned but Ewing was not even interviewed.
More of a national story that happened to have a quote from a local coach.

There is an old axiom in college basketball ... Fall articles are nice but March articles pay the bills. Let Mason have the "George" fall glory ... this "George" will be getting paid sooner than you think.

Agree with the peanut gallery that you may be increasing your blood pressure over nothing. Do we want GW´s scheduling dirty laundry aired publicly during recruiting season, in any case? And, with elections, football, elections, COVID, elections, Supreme Court hearings, elections and elections all going on now, who is turning to the Washington Post for college basketball news in October? Be thankful the Post has a sports staff covering more than the NFL´s Generics at this point.

What I would like is even a hint of what is happening in terms of the schedule, be it from the school, a local newspaper, an insider on this board...something.

Poog, thank you for bringing this article to our attention. I understand how you feel, and what you wrote seems justified to me. I feel the Washington Post normally covers Georgeown and UMD a lot, but barely covers GW or Mason. That is the Post's bias and they seem to have had this bias for many years, and as long as I can remember. So I feel it's actually good that at least Mason got some print. I believe, once the public starts to understand the excellent things JC is doing for GW and the great young players he's brought to the school, we will start to receive more and more coverage. I wouldn't be surprised if, in a year or two when we are a top tier A10 team and playing a good OOC schedule, GW was getting as much press as either Georgetown or Maryland. I just don't think the Post will be able to ignore us.
I feel what GWRising said was very interesting. I have never heard that, but it makes sense to me. I feel GW will be receiving a lot of press in March. Maybe not this March, but definitely in March 2022 and beyond!
