I simply don't understand this zone defensive scheme. It doesn't work

Yes. I think that may have been an assist by Moyer.

Great final series, with uncontested shots then saving the ball to the other team near our goal.

Even JC and coordinators must realize this zone doesn't work and should switch,3.5 games too late.

Halftime.
FG: GW 11-33 (33%) vs UMBC: 17-30 (56.7%)
3pt: GW 2-8 (25%) vs UMBC 7-13 (53.8%)
Assists: GW 1 vs UMBC 12
Surprisingly, we have less TOs and more than double their offensive rebounds. Poor shooting and defense really killing us here. Also, 25% of our total points have come from the line.

1 assist in first half

Looks like the bread needs some more baking.

Yeah, this is pretty pathetic.

What you see is what you get.
Positives: AmericaEast TV is AWESOME!!!! Free and available worldwide. Waaaaaay better than ESPN+.
Negatives: Pretty much everything mentioned by others. I´d add that Bishop may be trying to emulate Yinka´s NBA career with his passing game and Moyer´s "move" to the basket is not going to fool anyone at the DI level.
Observations: Is Darnell shorter than his father? UMBC has made improvements to its gym since the last time I was there (which was 30+ years ago to see a UMBC sub hit a running trey at the buzzer to beat GW-- yes, that actually happened!).
Can we start to use references to a "long season" now? Or is it still "too early to write the season off"?

Mayhem is suppose to cause the other team to play at a speed in which they are not comfortable, however it is GW that looks uncomfortable on offense whereas UMBC is calmly and smartly picking our zone apart.

No clue how to move their feet in a zone. No clue how to rebound out of a zone. They only seem to play defense around the top of the circle. Once the ball gets to the lowpost or corners, we are dead.
The difference in two days is that UMBC is not exhausting themselves launching 3's. 7-13 shooting. Coppin took 40 3's against us. Ryan Odom is coaching an outstanding game against us.

Limelight by Rush, that's some excellent halftime music

First game I've seen this season. Stupified by the 1-3-1 where the corner has been open all day. And the one-man showboating gets us exactly what we deserve - 1 accidental assist. SMH.

To go along with its one assist, GW has also had three shots blocked, too. Just in case you thought the offense was working well...

Offense is 1-4 - everyone standing around waiting for Bishop to do something

No....The only thing that would save this team is for a rich Grad offering the university a million if GWU would play Man D.

Halftime poll question: What's Jamion doing, smiling or yelling?

I wonder if JC is focusing on rebounding, seems like that was the case last game and today. Not much different otherwise from the rest of the games.

Another one of my favorite expressions is to see what half time adjustments a team makes. As Al McGuire was fond of saying, the first 5 minutes of the second half is the most important stretch of a game. Lets see where we are at the 15 minute mark. An 11 point deficit is not that great in a high scoring game. GW back on the court practicing their shots. I think they would be better served by practicing passing the ball to each other.

That's been our offense for 4 years now. The season of ML's firing when we still had TC we actually ran a semi-competent version of ML's offense but ever since we've just stopped moving.
