Brelsford three. He’s +22 this game with us up 21. (They must have given him two for that shot).
I think he’s looked promising every time he’s played. Glad he’s getting more run now.
Battle also +22. Before you crush Bishop, he’s +10 and Moyer is +8.

We had a size mismatch with Ball

How sad is it to hear Fordham announcers calling this a big win for GW? I mean, they are right - we desperately needed to not just win, but look good doing fit - but, you know, Fordham.

47 points for Battle and Bishop equals Fordham's final point total.

If you had Fordham and 23.... You lose!

Well that was a lot more fun that losing. Nice defense, nice passing.
24 points for Battle 23 points 5 boards 5 dimes for James Bishop, a firestorm 2nd half, 4 for 5 from 3.
GW wins 71-47 on the road.

Also their first game of the year.
See what happens against better competition.
But will take it!

So the key to victory is to play a crummy team that has zero games under its belt.

It was Fordham, a team that hasn't won a conference game against anyone not wearing a buff and blue uniform in nearly 2 years and is playing its first game of the season. Still, it is a win, and a sound win at that , and it feels good.

On pace to go undefeated in conference. 05-06 team shaking in their boots.

Battle and Bishop combine for 47 points on 17-30 shooting (8-14 for Bishop, 9-16 for Battle). 5 TOs each, but 5 assists for Bishop.
Lincoln Ball nice stat line with 3 points, 4 dimes, and 8 boards in 28 minutes (all rebounds on D, so 8 def boards is nice).
Brelsford impresses with 4 points, 5 assists, and 4 boards in 16 minutes.
Seymour goes 3-6 from deep, has 11 points.
Moyer had 8 boards - and best of all, he only took 3 shots and had just 1 TO. (No doubt team is at its best when he isn’t trying to showcase his bad offense).
Overall +/-:
Battle 25
Brelsford 22
Paar 16
Seymour 14
Bishop 13
Ball 13
Moyer 9
Dean 8
Brown 0
Leftwich 0

It was my freshman year. Hard to have that be your baseline.

Great site, Free. Thank you. Couple of interesting stats...50 freshman minutes. For a team that is rebuilding, that is a good thing. All 3 frosh showed something. Although Ball was only 1-3, his 2 misses were good looks that just didn't drop. He also had 8 rebounds, 4 assists and no turnovers in 28 minutes. Looked pretty good on defense too. As Lonergan use to say to his players, if you are not scoring, you still need to be out there helping the team in other ways. This was a classic example. We also had 18 assists to 14 turnovers. The ratio is ok, and there were still far too many turnovers, but it is the first time all season that there were more assists than turnovers. Except for his 5 turnovers, I liked Bishop's offensive game today. He still had his 24 points and 5 "dimes" (when I call assists dimes, it makes people think I know what I am talking about...it gives me "street cred", as the kids would say), but to put it right out there, he did not seem like a ball hog today, and it seemed to result in others being more involved in the game. Likewise, Battle with 24 points showing gobs of confidence and versatility in his scoring, but only 1 assist and a whopping 5 turnovers also. And the usual meh defense.

Well, we were long overdue to kick someone right in the little Sorianos. God bless Kenny the announcer. I will be toasting him soon with a drink of water in the middle of the night.
Really nice TEAM victory with so many guys contributing. Very happy about the win, and happy that we looked capable of playing the right way.
Can't get overly excited through no fault of GW's. This Fordham team just played terribly for reasons ranging from not having played this season to not being very good. The Colonials did exactly what they were supposed to do today, which is saying something when considering how often this team has failed to take care of business this season.
Let's share the ball and knock down shots like we did today against Duquesne on Saturday. That contest will be a better barometer to be able to gauge where this team is at.

We are +8 as a team, in scoring differential, which is quite odd for a 2-6 team but shows how close the losses are. For a bad team in the beginning of the rebuild, the record really doesn't matter much, developing players, gelling as a team. There was a year I think Mojo's first year where we seemed to win every close game, this year we've lost them, long term that doesn't matter much.
Today looked like a good team effort, good contesting of every shot, good energy and good ball movement.
