Just 2 games today. St Joe's improved to 3-0, 13-2, with a 71 - 47 win over St Louis, 1 - 2, 5-13. Rookie Laura Ziegler led the Hawks with 16 points and 9 rebounds.while Talya Brugler was 13/7. Julia Martinez led the Billikens with 13/8. Brooke Flowers had 6 points and 9 rebounds, but added zero blocks to her nation leading average.
UMass (12-4, 2-1) won at Loyola Chicago (1-2, 6-10) by 76 - 59. Minutewomen shot poorly in the first quarter, 0-4 from 3s, but trailed by only 11-10 an improvement over recent slow starts.. Sam Breen scored their first 2 baskets to end her trend of scoreless first periods. Breen finished with 23 points, including 3 - 4 from beyond the arc and 8 - 8 FT. She had 6 rebounds, Sydney Taylor continued her cold shooting att the start but finished with 15 points, 3 - 14 but 3 - 9 on 3s. She had 8 rebounds and was 6 - 6 from the line. Destiny Philoxy again had some trouble with turnovers (6), but had 13 points (6-6 FT) and 7 assists. UMass was 20 - 20 from the line. After the 0-4 start, Mintewomen finished 10-22 from beyond the arc.
Loyola put up a good fight, playing hard defense (11 steals.). They had a lot of traveling violations and offensive charges, at least 4. They are not a good shooting team, only 5 - 22 3s and 10 - 17 FT,. Sitori Tanin had 17 points on 8 - 11 shooting, after coming in with a 7.8 pig average.
There are now 3 undefeated teams in the A10, and 4 winless teams. Five teams sit at 1 - 1. Richmond at Davidson, scheduled for tomorrow, has been canceled. Davidson expects to be able to resume play next week. CBSSN games tomorrow are Fordham at Dayton, followed by LaSalle at Rhode Island.
Since I've mentioned this game before, Columbia ended their 27 game losing streak to Princeton on ESPNU last night. Lions won in overtime 58 - 55. Columbia lost their first league game today to Penn (10-5, 3-0) in the Palestra. Princeton rebounded with a win over Cornell.

In Thursday's only game, Rhode Island stayed unbeaten with a 76 - 59 win over St Louis. Moye Toure continued her hot play with 14 points and 10 rebounds, although she had 8 turnovers. Sayawni Lassiter had 14/7 and Madison Hattix-Covington also had 14. Showing their depth, starters Emma Squires and Sophie Phillips only played 11 minutes each, but Emmi Rinat came off the bench for the Rans and scored 23 points on 7-9 shooting (4-6 beyond the arc.). Rinat scored 8 against GW last year as a rookie, Dolly Cairns came off the bench in her second game back from concussion protocols.
Kennedy Calhoun and Julia Martinez each scored 14 for the Billikens. Martinez shot 6 - 7 from the field and added 14 rebounds and 8 assists. Kyla McMakin had 11 points on 4 - 23 shooting, 1 - 8 on 3s. Brooke Flowers scored 8 points, and 12 rebounds and 3 blocks.
Rams are 4 - 0 in the conference (13 - 3 overall.). The only other undefeated team is St Joe's, also 4 - 0, which plays in Amherst tomorrow, in another key game early in the conference season, GW sent Fordham from the land of the unbeatens and both are tied in third at 3 - 1. UMass is next at 2 - 1 and already has a home conference loss to Rhode Island. A second home loss to a first place team would hurt.
Five games scheduled for tomorrow, all in the afternoon. (I was out of the loop for a few days, and missed some games but hopefully will be timely from now on.)

All 5 home teams won today in A10 play. Just 2 games tomorrow, both CBSSN, and GW- George Mason on Monday.
VCU. (5-11,2-2). 55 George Mason (9-9, 2-3). 45.
Mary-Anna Asare had 15 points for the Rams while Sarah Te-Bisau had 14. Paula Suarez scored 12 for the Patriots.
Davidson (8-9, 1-2). 73 St Bonaventure. (3-11,0-5) 39. Wildcats led 23 - 4 after a quarter in getting first conference win. Sophomore guard Mallorie Haines scored 18 points on 6 - 8 shooting, all 3 pointers. Suzi-Rose Deegan had 18 points,
Fordham. (12-6, 4 - 1). 83 Duquesne. (12-6, 2-3). 62. Asiah Dingle led the Rams with 24 points and 10 rebounds, Sarah Karpeli had 18 points and Anna DeWolfe had 14. Amaya Hamilton scored 22 for the Dukes while Precious Johnson had 11 points and 14 rebounds. UMass visits the Bronx on Wednesday night, a match-up of top 4 teams.
UMass (13-4,3-1) 58 St Joseph's. (14-3,4-1). 56. Laura Ziegler had 22 for the Hawks. Talya Brugler had 12. Olivia Mullins scored 13, including 3 early three pointers and another clutch 3 pointer in the 4th quarter. Only 9 points from the rest of the team, just 3 off the bench. Hawks were sloppy with the ball at the top of the key, allowing some easy transition baskets for UMass early. They missed 3 chances late to tie or go ahead.
UMass trailed much of the game but gutted out the victory. Ber'Nyah Mayo had 19 points on 7 - 14 shooting. She made a big 3 pointer late. McKenna White had 10 points and 4 steals. Sydney Taylor continues to struggle with her shot, but scored 10 points on 3 - 8 shooting, 2-4 beyond the arc. Destiny Philoxy makes a lot of positive contributions but is also struggling with her shot, 6 points on 2 -12 field goals. Sam Breen didn't scored until late in the second quarter, a 3 point play. She finished with 9 points on 3 - 8 shooting, 0 - 2 from 3s, Breen was the game's leading rebounder with 8. She had 4 steals to go with 4 turnovers,
Minutewomen continue to struggle with shooting, especially from beyond the arc, which leads to slow starts. They seem to shoot free throws better on the road, just 10 - 17 today. Breen was 3 - 3, and I believe she's made at least 19 in a row,
URI, which plays tomorrow, is the remaining undefeated, at 4 - 0. Fordham and St Joe's are 4 - 1. UMass is 3 - 1. GW is alone in 5th at 3 - 2. LaSalle, VCU and Dayton are 2 -2 .

UMass' thumping of VCU this afternoon ended a 2 day period in which there were 7 conference games involving every team but LaSalle. The team with the better league record won each game, but several of yesterday's games were closer than would be expected. The teams under .500 often struggle but can give their opponents heartburn.
URI still leads the A10 at 8 - 0. UMass is alone in second at 6 - 1. Fordham is 6 - 2. LaSalle and Davidson are tied at 4 - 2., while GW is even with St Joe's at 5 - 3. Duquense's win put them at 4 - 4, right In the middle in 8th place.

GW's win today had them briefly in 4th place in the conference at 6 - 3, until LaSalle won to improve to 5 - 2, and move into 4th by percentage points. St Louis is beating Fordham, in the first half and if that result holds, the Rams would drop to 6 - 3.

Fordham lost at St Louis to drop to 6 - 3 in the A10, tying GW. Both teams have identical 14 - 8 overall records. LaSalle is just in front in 3rd place at 5 - 2. UMass (6 - 1) and St Joe's (5 - 3) have tough road games today at Duquesne and Richmond respectively.
St Louis (3 - 5) beat Fordham 87 - 84, in a game that featured 5 potential all-conference players, although it's hard to imagine 3 Billikens getting picked, given their record. But Kyla McMakin, Brooke Flowers and Julia Martinez all fill the stat sheet. St Louis led 49 - 38 at the half. The Rams scored 31 in the 3rd quarter for a 69 - 65 lead. St Louis rallied and held on in a back and forth final period. The last couple of minutes were wild, featuring steals/turnovers, missed free throws (mostly by St Louis) and disqualifications of Fordham starters Anna DeWolfe and Kaitlyn Downey, and a three pointer off the glass by Asiah Dingle.
McMakin led the scoring with 33 points. Brooke Flowers had 23 with 10 rebounds, but only 1 block, and 3 missed foul shots late. Payton Kennedy scored 17 off the bench. Julia Martinez had 12 rebounds, 13 assists, 5 steals, but was only 2 - 17 and 6 points. She had a crucial steal in the last minute but later had a turnover while inbounding the ball after a Fordham score.
Asiah Dingle scored 22. Besides banking in the three pointer in the last minute, she stole the Martinez throw in pass and assisted on a game tying basket. DeWolfe had 21 points and Downey had 16.
Flowers national lead in blocked shots is down to 6, in front of Stanford's Cameron Brink. Both have played 22 gams. Mayowa Taiwo is up to 29th nationally in rebounds per game. Sam Breen is 24th and Duquense's Megan McConnell is 31st.

Sunday's action saw UMass improve got 7 - 1, while St Joe's fell to 5 - 4, a game behind GW and Fordham, who now share 4th place.
UMass 83, Duquesne 61. Minutewomen were hot from the start and had a comfortable lead in the 20's most of the game. UMass shot 12 - 26 from beyond the arc while the Dukes were only 5 - 21. Sydney Taylor led the way with 20 points and 9 rebounds, MaKenna White, in her usual first off the bench role, was 14/9. Sam Breen was 12/8/4 assists in her return to her home area. (Update - Destiny Philoxy played 29 mintues and showed no ill effects from the ankle injury she suffered last gaem: 7 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and only 2 tournovers.)
Amaya Hamilton led the Dukes with 15 points. Megan McConnell was 9/8/4 assists. Ayanna Townsend (Xavier transfer) was 11/7 off the bench, while Tess Myers was 8/6. xAC has ably covered Duquense in the game thread. I would note that 5'7" McConnell is a 3rd year Soph, due to the Covid year. She has a nose for the ball in rebounding, sneaking around Bigs to put herself in position to get possession. McConnell has an athletic pedigree, including her brother TJ (Duquense/Arizona/NBA) and several other relatives. She had 8 steals against GW last year.
Richmond 94, St Joe's 90, in overtime. Freshman Maggie Doogan, now starting, scored 28 to lead the Spiders, who had 6 players in double figures, including Siobhan Ryan with 14 and Grace Townsend with 14 and 10 assists. Richmond was 3 - 3 from the field in overtime and 11 - 13 from the foul line, McKenzie Smith had a career high 38 points for the Hawks. plus 8 rebounds. Also in double figures were Talya Brugler with 14, Laura Ziegler with 13 (14 rebounds) and Katie Jekot with 11. Richmond visits UMass on Wednesday and St Joe's visits Rhode Island.
VCU 60. Loyola Chicago 50. Rams led be a career high of 19 points from Chloe Bloom.

UMass (19-4, 9-1) and Fordham (16-8, 8-3) won today to maintain their places at the top of the standings. LaSalle (14-10, 5-4) lost their second in a row after a 5 game winning streak. Rhode Island is in a tight game at Davidson in the first half.
UMass 66, LaSalle 42. Low scoring start to the game and LaSalle (25% shooting. 3 - 27 from beyond the arc never did get much offensive momentum.). Minutewomen had 3 double/doubles: Sydney Taylor with 26 points and 10 rebounds for her first career double/double, Angelique Ngalakolundi with 11/10, and Sam Breen with 10/15 plus 4 assists and turnovers. Breen only took 6 shots (2 - 3 beyond the arc.). UMass had 23 turnovers with 5 from Destiny Philoxy (4 assists) and 4 from Ber’Nyah Mayo (5 assists, 3 steals and 1 - 10 shooting.). They might not be able to get away with those mistakes next game, a rematch with Fordham and their experienced guards. LaSalle had no scorers in double figures and was led by Molly Masciantonio and Mia Jacobs (the Rookie sister) with 9 points. Masciantonio leads the nation in assists/turnover ratio with 4.26 at 81/19 before today's 2/1.
Fordham 80, Loyola Chicago (6-17, 1 - 9) 64. Host Rams led 50 - 33 at the half. Anna DeWolfe scored 20. Asiah Dingle had 16 with 4 steals. Kaitlyn Downey was 13/10 while Jadaa Dapaa was 9/10. Sam Galanopoulus scored 17 for the Ramblers.
Duquense (15 - 9, 5 - 6) 66, VCU (7 - 15, 4 - 6) 63. Dukes had 4 scoring in double figures: Naelle Bernard with 17, Megan McConnell with 16, Ayanna Townsend with 15 and Tess Myers with 14. Janika Griffin-Walker scored 18 for the Rams. Chloe Bloom, again off the bench, had 14.
Richmond at Dayton was cancelled due to Covid issues with the Flyers. The game will not be made up.

After Sunday's games, Rhode Island (10 - 0) and UMass (9 - 1) remain on top of the A10. GW and Fordham are tied for 3rd at 8 - 3. LaSalle is the only other team with a winning record in conference at 5 - 4. St Joe's and St Louis are both 5 - 5, while Daviddon dropped to 4 - 4.
Saturday night, Rhode Island held off host the host Wildcats 67 - 60. Madison Hattix- Covington scored 21 for the Rams. Maye Toure was 12/8. Dolly Cairns scored 10, included 4 - 4 free throws, which is important because as a team, the Rams only shot 10 - 20 from the line. For the season they shot .683. Two starters, Sayawini Lassister and Emma Squires, did not score Tenin Megassa scored 8, and the Rams got 16 points from 4 other subs.
Megassa is the 6'5" transfer from Dayton. She was out with injuries most of the year and has only played the last 3 games, averaging about 10 minutes a game. Megassa was 2020 - 21 Sixth Women of the Year for the A10, and made the All Rookie team. One other Rhode Island tidbit, they draw close to or over 1,000 fans for most home games.
Today, besides GW's win, St Louis beat St Bonaventure 75 - 61. Kyle McMakin scored 17 points with 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Brooke Flowers had 16/12 with 3 blocks. Rookie Mia Nicastro, a frequent starter, scored 11. Julia Martinez was 4/10, with 4 assists but 10 turnovers. Kennedy Calhoun (Longwood) scored 16 with 9 rebounds off the bench. Kiley Bess scored 9, her first points of the season, over 5 games.

Rhode Island and UMass each won their 20th game overall and widened the gap with 3rd place GW and Fordham. URI is 20 - 4, 11 - 0 while Minutewomen are 20 - 3, 10 - 1. Each received one vote in the USA Today poll. If both win their weekend games, next Thursday's match-up should be the first in over a decade between 2 A10 teams receiving votes, according to the UMass analyst. Although you never know with poll voters. GW and Fordham have identical 16 - 9, 8 -4 records. Davidson is 5 - 4 (and will only play 14 conference games due to the 2 missed due to Covid protocol.) St Joe's broke their losing streak and St Louis won their 4th in a row for a tie at 6 - 5. LaSalle lost to fall to 5 - 5. Richmond also has 5 losses with their 4 wins. Duquense is 5 - 6.
(Game summaries will have fewer individuals stats then usual. Too many.)
St Louis 74, Dayton 65. Camrae Clegg (St John's) led the Billikens with 20 off the bench. Brooke Flowers had an almost triple double with 8 points/9 rebounds/9 blocks. Julia Martinez had 13/8/8 assists/4 steals.
Richmond 67, LaSalle 51. Maggie Doogan led the Spriders with 20/7. Grace Townsend was 15/10/7 assists.
St Joseph's 67, VCU 45. Laura Ziegler had 22/16 for the Hawks.
Davidson 57, Loyola Chicago 55. Elle Sutphin had 21/7 for the Wildcats. Suzi-Rose Deegan (16 points) hit the game winning jumper with 1.7 seconds to go, for the hosts..
George Mason 65, St Bonaventure 51. Paula Suarez scored 15 and Nalani Kaysia (reigning Rookie of the Week) was 15/10. Patriots are 12 - 13, 5 - 7, and host UMass on Sunday afternoon.
UMass 80, Fordham 79. Rams' revenge tour comes up short again, as they've now lost 6 in a row to the Minutewomen, including in the last 2 tournaments. Fordham led by 11 late in the 2nd quarter until UMass hit 3 straight three pointers. Rams won the rebounding battle 40 - 27, but turnovers were 19 for Fordham and just 10 for UMass, along with 11 steals to 5 for Fordham.
In a game featuring top notch guards, Ber’Nyah Mayo had a career high 29 points with 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Sam Breen was 18/6. Destiny Philoxy was 15/5/6 assists to only 2 turnovers. Each of them had 3 steals. Asiah Dingle (Kent State, Stony Brook) scored 30 on 13 - 19 shooting for the Rams, with 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 turnovers. Anna DeWolfe was 17/1/4 assists with 5 turnovers. She played all but 20 seconds of the game. Jada Dapaa was 12/10. Fordham doesn't have a deep bench but got 12 points from 3 subs. UMass only played 7.
The final minutes were back and forth scoring. Breen was fouled late and while she was standing at the line, Dingle stood in front of her and yapped at a ref, which seems like a bit of a breech of protocol. Been knocked down both free throws. After a Fordham score, Breen missed a shot, but MaKenna White had a tough rebound, missed her put back but Breen rebounded and scored. Fordham scored again for the lead. Mayo scored with 11 seconds left after a Dingle flop, with "minimal contact" as the analyst said. Fordham advanced the ball on a tine out. Dingle took the inbounds pass, couldn't get a shot from the top of the key, passed to Dapaa, moved toward her for the return pass and they collided. Dapaa lost control of the ball, and time expired with the ball rolling on the floor. (I was at the game but heard the announcers on replays.)
AWARDS: Brooke Flowers was Player of the Week. Sam Breen, for the second year in a row, is a Becky Hammon award semifinalist, the final 10. Tammi Reiss was ESPNW national coach of the week and Rhode Island was NCAA Women's team of the Week. Maybe the publicity will help the A10's slim chances for an at-large bid.

With its loss at St Louis, GW sits alone in 4th place at 8 - 5. Fordham, 8 - 4, has the weekend off. Rams still have games left with LaSalle (5 - 5), George Mason, URI and Davidson. With wins yesterday, St Joe's and the Billikens are 7 - 5. Hawks also still have Rhode Island, Davidson, and Mason on their schedule plus competitive Duquense. Davidson is 5 - 4, but has a tough schedule with Richmond plus the 2nd - 5th place teams in the conference: St Joe's, UMass, GW, and Fordham. Richmond also has 5 losses, but only 4 wins, and has lost 2 gemes due to Covid protocols of their scheduled opponent..
St Joe's (17 - 7 overall) beat Dayton (4 - 19, 3 - 9) on Saturday 76 - 62. Taylor Brugler's 19 points led the Hawks, who had all 5 starters scoring double figures. Mackenzie Smith (14/11) and Laura Ziegler (11/11) had double doubles. Sydney Freeman, Mariah Perez (12 rebounds) and Anyassa Jones each score 14 for The Flyers.
St Bonaventure (5 - 22, 2 - 11) beat Loyola Chicago (6 - 19, 1 - 11) 48 - 47. Bonnies shot 16 - 40 from the field while the offensively challenged Ramblers could only hit 16 of 61 shots. Ouch.
Rhode Island at VCU is on ESPNU at noontime today.

On Sunday, URI improved to 12 - 0 with a 63 - 31 win over host VCU (4 - 8.). No one played more than 21 minutes for the Rams while 10 (of 12) playing double figure minutes. Maddison Hattix- Covington scored 13 and Dolly Cairns scored 11. Maye Toure, with a bit of foul trouble, only scored 2 points with 7 rebounds. Janika Griffin-Wallace led VCU with 10 points.
Richmond beat Davidson 75 - 44. Spiders have won 3 of 4 and are on a bit of a surge like St Louis. Maggie Doogan continued a late push for the all Rookie team with 17 points. Grace Townsend had a solid performance, 12/4/4 assists and Addie Budnick scored 10. Sophomore guard Sydney Brown had 10 points off the bench. Elle Sutphin led the Wildcats with 10 points.
LaSalle beat Duquense 75 - 57, led by 13 points from Kayla Spruill. Molly Masciantonio added 12, and Mia Jacobs had 12 with 8 rebounds. Precious Johnson had 15 points off the bench for the Dukes. Stat machine Megan McConnell only scored 4 points but had 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals.
In Fairfax, UMass beat George Mason 78 - 57, sprinting out to a 19 - 4 first quarter. Sydney Taylor and Sam Breen scored 21 for the Minutewomen. Breen's 14 rebounds helped her inch ahead of Mayowa Taiwo in rebounds per game. Ber'Nyah Nayo had 18 points and 2 steals. Mayo and Breen each had 5 assists. Laila Fair, the St Joe's transfer, has had limited minutes after starting the season with an injury. With UMass's bigs having foul trouble, she played well in a solid 13 minutes. She might be needed for Thursday game at URI.
In the standings, the double bye positions (seeds 1 - 4) still are held by URI, UMass, Fordham and GW. Six teams have 5 losses, which would put them at seeds 4 - 9, the first round bye spots, besides #4. Duquense is 15 - 10, 5 - 7. and sits as the #10 seed currently, and would have to play in the first round.
3. Fordham 16 - 9, 8 - 4
4. GW 16 - 10, 8 - 5
5 St Joe's 17 - 9. 7 - 5
St Louis 11 - 16, 7 - 5
7. LaSalle 15 - 11, 6 - 5
8, Richmond 15 - 7, 5 - 5
Davidson, 12 - 12, 5 - 5
Canceled games will not be made up. Winning percentage will determine tie-breakers if possible. I'll leave those calculations to the A10.

There was some movement in the middle of the A10 standings after tonight's 5 games.
St Joe's won at Davidson and tied GW at 8 - 5. Davidson fell to 5 - 6. Richmond beat St Louis to improve to 6 - 5, while the Billikens dropped to 7 - 6. Duquense won to stay in the race at 6 - 7; but still trailing for the first round bye.
Richmond 84, St Louis 74. Maggie Doogan had 19 points, 7 rebounds and 3 blocks for the Spiders, who had 5 players in double figures. Grace Townsend had 13/6/7 assists. Kyla McMakin scored 24 for St Louis. Brooke Flowers was 17/11/3 blocks.
Duquense 94, St Bonaventure 62. Dukes also had 5 in double figures.
George Mason (13 - 14, 6 - 8) 80, Loyola Chicago (6 20, 1 - 12) 63. Sitori Tanin was 16/12 for the Ramblers with 8 steals. Maya Chandler scored 17 off the bench. GW's next opponent I believe.
Dayton 70, VCU 65. Gutty effort from the Flyers who only played 6 and the sub only played 4 minutes.
St Joe's 72, Davidson 56. Talya Brugler scored 34 for the Hawks. Suzi-Rose Deegan with 14 was the only double figure scorer for the Wildcats.
Two games tomorrow with a key game in the standings at 11 am with Fordham at LaSalle. Then UMass at URI at 6. Both games on ESPN +. Rams received multiple votes in the AP poll. Rams and Minutewomen both got a vote in the USAToday poll. (If I ever feel motivated, I might write a comment or two about that Bracketology fraud Charlie Creme, power conference suck up. Not a fan of NET rating system either.)
Player of the Week was Ber'Nyah Mayo of UMass, a first such award for the junior who averaged 23.5 points in 2 games, 5.0 rebounds, 4,0 assists and 2.5 steals. Laura Ziegler of St Joe's won her 6th Rookie of the Week.

LaSalle beat Fordham this afternoon moving the Explorers all alone in 6th place at 7 - 5, ahead of 6 - 5 Richmond. LaSalle has had 1 game canceled so can't end in a tie with any team. ( Richmond had 2 games cancelled. Davidson also had 2 cancellations while Dayton had 1). Fordham is in a three way tie for 3rd place with GW and St Joe's..
UMass beat URI tonight for a 2 way tie at the top of the standings at 12 - 1. According to the announcers, if they end the season tied, and having split their season series, UMass gets the first seed on the basis of a win over common opponent Harvard, which beat the Rams. Neither losing team ever had a l lead in their games.
LaSalle 61, Fordham 49. Explorers hadn't beat Fordham on their home court since 2012. Kayla Spruill led the way with 24 points. Mia Jacobs scored 1o. Anna DeWolfe scored 17 for Fordham, mostly on drives to the basket. Asiah Dingle had 15 points, but 7 turnovers. Neither Ram guard shot well. Dingle had the only 3 pointer between them. In fact, Molly Mascantonio may have been the most effective guard in the game with 7 assists to 1 turnover, even with only scoring 5 late points, including an important, and long, three pointer.
UMass. 78, URI 57. Minutewomen jumped to a 9 - 0 lead in breaking their 4 game losing streak to their New England rival, in front of 2,422 in the Ryan Center. Sydney Taylor scored 18 points and had 10 rebounds. Neither she nor Sam Breen shot well. Angelique Ngalakolundi's performance was key , 17/.8, with all her points in the paint, except 3 FTs, as URI often was unable to cover her (or Breen, who had 10/8, 2 assists, 2 steals,). Stefanie Kulesza had some good minutes off the bench with 7 points and 6 rebounds. Destiny Philoxy had a pretty good assist/turnover ration of 11/1, Sophie Phillips led the cold shooting Rams with 12 points. UMass won the rebounding battle 51 - 29.

All three home teams won on Saturday. Besides GW, St Bonaventure beat VCU 68 - 63. Duquense's win over Richmond will get most of the attention due to their comeback, and movement up the standings.
Duquense 83, Richmond 69. Richmond led 59 - 53 after 3 quarters. Dukes outscored the Spiders 30 - 10 in the fourth, with an early 7 - 2 run, followed later by 11 - 0 run. Duquense moves up to 7 - 7 in conference play, tying Richmond which is 6 - 6. Dukes may win the tie breaker head to head if they only play once. Davidson is behind them at 5 - 6. Seven of the 8 teams that play tomorrow are in the top half of the standings, and even the other team, George Mason, at 6 - 8, has a chance for a .500 record; however remote.
As to the Duquense win, Megan McConnell had career highs in points with 23 and rebounds with 18, plus 8 assists. She shot 9 - 13 from the field, including a career high 5 three point baskets (of 7.). Somehow she missed all 4 of her free throws. Amaya Hamilton followed with 15/7/8 assists. Lauren Wasylson scored 11. Off the bench, Precious Johnson scored 17 and Noelle Bernard had 10. The Dukes outrebounded the Spiders 42 - 23. BTW, there are no seniors on Duquense's roster.
Leading Richmond is scoring wit 12 points were Addie Budnick and Grace Townsend (6 assists.). Katie Hill had 10.
