If GW can shock the world and finish to 4, there’s a legitimate possibility that Bishop wins player of the year, Edwards wins rookie of the year, Adams wins most improved, and Caputo wins coach of the year.  But that’s truly a best case scenario with a lot of basketball yet to be played.

Best freshman recruit (yeah I know he was technically a transfer) by a first-year coach since Val Brown and Chris Monroe by Penders (on the back of Jarvis's success).

^^^^

[EDIT:  Nevermind, Val and Chris came in Penders’ second year (I always think of that last Shawnta season as a Jarvis year).  So best freshman recruit since Alvin Pearsall with Jarvis???  Before that, it was Mike Brown and Gimelstob.]

Good point.
Long way to catch Chris Monroe, of course. But Chris is actually around to impart some things Max, who already is a good player.
Max is really turning out to be an excellent recruit. If CC's recruits are like this and we got some in frontcourt, too, we definitely got the right guy to get GW out of its basketball doldrums.
One thing especially, is Max's nose for the ball and rebounding. That really helped Saturday and has
helped throughout the season.

I can see  the case for POY being mostly top of the standings (the way MVP voters lean heavily to the top teams) but shouldn't the Rookie of the Year and the MIP just be the best/most improved respectively?

GW was picked 2nd to last by the writers/coaches so if CC finishes top 4 he's def got a very good shot. CC would be our 2nd ever Coach of the Year winner in the 45 year history of the league  (Hobbs, 2006)

Martelli won the award 4 times. He should be on the sidelines Wed night, deserved to go out on his own terms like Mike Brey.

Can you guess the last GW Rookie of The Year winner?

Been a lot longer than I would have guessed

On a side note, we did have 4 of the first 16 winners...  Can you name them???

Wow, impressive stuff

The leading candidate for A-10 Rookie of the Year, Edwards tops all conference rookies in points per game (10.8), rebounds per game (6.6) and minutes played (33.2). He also ranks among the A-10's top freshmen in steals (3rd) and assists

his fifth A-10 Rookie of the Week award, Maximus is the first Colonial with five Rookie of the Week awards since SirValiant Brown in 1999-00

Maximus Edwards Rookie of the Year win, the 6th in GW history, but also the 3rd in the last 4 years to make 1st Team All Rookie:

Maximus.
Brayon
Jamison Battle

Zero for the prior 10 years, dating back to the last 1st Team All Rookie, Lasan Kromah in 2009-10.

Hobbs had 6 of them:

Lasan.  Damian Hollis.  Carl Elliott.   JR Pinnock.  Mike Hall and TJ

We haven't had one who stayed since Hollis, so time to break that streak.

Every guy buried on a Power 5 bench would benefit starting down one level.  Look how much better thing are for Maximus, not sure he'd be playing for #12 Kansas State this year.   Rookie of The Year at GW.

On the flip side you have the case of JoeBam, who could have starred for 4 years at GW but is not getting into most games at Oklahoma.

A much wiser transfer situation, was Sincere Carey going back  home and carrying Kent State into the Dance.  They're a #12 seed no one is going to want to play in the NCAA Tourney.
