Oregon State upset #9 Arizona on a buzzer beating three by Jordan Pope.

Detroit Mercy moved to 0-21 on the year with a 16 point loss to Milwaukee. Mississippi Valley State (shock, surprise!) is the only other team that's winless this season.

Denver beat South Dakota 111-110 in double overtime. Outside of our triple overtime game against Fordham, this may have been one of the best games of the year. Denver has the nation's leading scorer Tommy Bruner who had 49 but the Coyotes nearly matched that with Kaleb Stewart who had 44 of his own.

Finally, St. Mary's destroyed Pacific 76-28. Thankfully, the Tigers scored just enough to keep the GW-SLU record intact.

We may be already on the phone to Detroit Mercy and Pacific for next year's schedule.

Houston beats Texas on the road

Lunardi has Texas in his last 4 in.    Incredible what a gap there is between Texas and Houston

As for Kelvin Sampson at Houston, what a job he's done there.  A Final Four, an Elite 8 and at least the Sweet 16 every year dating back to 2019

Siena lost to a 7 win Rider team by 41. 18 FGs made, 21 turnovers. Sean Durugordon (who I think we recruited a bit when he transferred sometime back) had half of their 50 points. Imagine what things would have looked like had the NCAA not allowed him to play since he's transferred multiple times already. Siena may not have money for the buyout but Carm has been a disaster there this year. Virtually no D1 talent on that team.

The #1 team in the nation, UConn picked up their 8th Quad 1 win today

Danny Hurley's defending National Champs are 20-2 and looking like the #1 overall seed for the Tourney

It was nice seeing GW beat him a few times while he was in the A-10. Was always a great experience to see him stomp around on the visiting sidelines, glaring at the officials. He has never changed.

Mason lost to UMass yesterday because Hall lost track of the score in the final seconds of the game. That's the kind of moment that causes coaches to run like lunatics up and down the sidelines yelling "don't foul!" when the score is tied, their team is up 4, or when they no longer have fouls to give. Still, Hall has to have more awareness in that situation.

Lincoln Ball had 15(!) rebounds in American's overtime win against Bucknell. Good to see him play a big role at another school.

Gonzaga fell to St Mary's at home. Looks like Few and co. will need to win the conference tournament to make the dance this year.

Loyola beat Davidson by 13 today. Des Watson showed up against his former team - 18 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists - to go with 5 made threes.

Saw that GM-Umass ending.  Have to feel for Hall.  No game should ever be won or lost in this manner.

Two other games worth discussing.  One goes back to last Wednesday when Purdue held a 46-8 advantage in free throw attempts against Northwestern.  The kicker though was when NW executed a perfect trap, down 3 in overtime with seconds left, only to be called for a phantom foul.  It cost NW any chance at winning, and Chris Collins knew this, so he strolled out onto the court to let the ref have it.  He was ejected (2 techs).  Just a blatant example of a ref calling what he was expecting to see rather than what actually happened.  This happens way too frequently in college basketball.

On Saturday night, Baylor held a comfortable second half lead over Iowa State when the refs unbelievably tossed Scott Drew for having his body breaking the plane of the coach's box, for the second time.  We've seen coaches walk onto the floor, practically interrupt the action, with no such calls.  Scott Drew has coached over 700 college games and it was the first time he had ever been ejected.  On the next possession, the Baylor bench was called for another technical for likely voicing their displeasure with how Drew was treated.  From there, Baylor could not do a single thing right for several minutes and ISU went from 11-14 down to up 5.  Baylor did come storming back and took a 2 point lead with 1.7 seconds left.  ISU had to go the length of the floor and had no timeouts left.  They missed a 3/4 court heave but wait...there's more.  It was ruled that the clock had not started properly.  Rather than a do-over, they took .5 seconds off the clock and ISU got to inbound from just beyond half-court.  1.2 left.  They passed to a guy at the top of the key who flipped the ball behind him to another player who banked home a three point shot.  ISU wins...or did they?  After review, it was ruled that he did not get the shot off in time (correct call) and Baylor ends up winning.  Perhaps the wildest game of the season.

Kansas St beats Kansas!

Court storming!

Wow 38 points?  GW I take it still holds the record by holding Saint Louis to 20?

I believe they had 7 at the half!

Quad 1 road win for Rutgers at Maryland!  Long way back to the bubble, just their 2nd Quad 1 win, did just win on the road at Michigan.

South Carolina wins again, what a year for a team we beat a year ago, they are 20-3 ranked #15 and climbing fast

Huge upset as Clemson takes down North Carolina on the road.

Dayton with a blowout road win vs The Bonnies, they roll on and are a NCAA Tourney Lock
