Sad news for DC area fans.  He contributed so much to DMV basketball.

Morgan Wootten coached at DeMatha from 1956 to 2002..45 years!! I didn't realize he coached that long. He also turned down several ACC jobs to stay at DeMatha. He left quite a legacy!!

Liked the Wootten tribute before yesterday's game. A true legend, and contributed a lot to the growth of basketball in the DC area. I had no idea he went 1274-192 in 46 seasons at DeMatha. That's super impressive!! RIP.

Morgan turned down Maryland. He also might have been a candidate for GW when Jarvis was hired.

The amazing thing about Morgan besides his great coaching career was that people don't realize he lived 24 years with a liver transplant and had a kidney transplanted  from his son Joe in 2006. In 1996, the average life expectancy after a liver transplant was less than 5 years. Today, even with all the advances, only 70% survive 5 years and 53% survive 20 years.
