A place to exchange WBB portal information.

I see that Maye Toure (URI) has entered the portal. She's a graduate transfer.

Asjah Inniss in the portal. Not a huge surprise since she participated in Senior Day but still a hole to fill

A few other A10 transfers of note --

Tenin Magassa 6'5" Center at URI; graduate transfer.
Taylor Napper 6' Junior Forward at St. Bonaventure
Eight players on La Salle's current roster (what's going on there?)
The usual smattering of transfers at some of the other school.
Other GW players in the portal are Gingras and Laureano, who were not on GW's roster this year.

And as WMC mentioned in another thread, Sutphin (Davidson) is staying, and UMass is losing two key players in Williams and Rose.

GW's Jaylin Hartman is in the portal, not surprising given her limited role and lack of PT this season.
Also, Taylor Jameson a very capable guard from George Mason has also entered the portal (graduate transfer).

It's hard to keep up with so many players in the transfer portal, but here's a few more not mentioned yet.

Sophie Sene, 6'5", is another Big entering the transfer portal from Rhode Island.  All 3 (Toure, Magassa) are from France.  Sene only played 10 games, 1.9 ppg.  Rams do have a 6'5' Finn coming in for first year.

Loyola Chicago has 4 in the transfer portal, including Aaliyah Moore and Mallory Ramage.  None averaged more than 2 ppg.  Ramblers have 6 rookies coming in.

Mia Nicastro, 6'!', might be a familiar name from St Louis now in the portal, although she didn't play much.

American has 5 in the portal and Howard has 3.   Pitt, coached by Tory Verdi, ex-UMass, had 4 enter the transfer portal, after an 8 - 24 season,  including leading scorer Liatu King, 18.7 ppg.

I'll be glad when we've seen the last of the extra Covid year season.

Monica Marsh in the portal for GW. Unfortunate, as she had potential to play a future role in the program.

A10 Champion Richmond had 5 portal entries. Most notable:
Grace Townsend (graduate transfer) and
Siobhan Ryan (graduate student)
Both were starters and Townsend was All A10.

A10 has its Player of the Year and 2 All Rookie team members in transfer portal.  The below list is not complete and includes some non A10 teams.

Sara Te-Bisau VCU, A10 POY has entered the transfer portal.

Grace Townsend of Richmond is heading to North Carolina.  Several guards last year had success leaving the A10 for Power conference schools.  Not least of which was Anna DeWolfe starting for Norte Dame after her career at Fordham,  Sydney Taylor saw action in the NCAA tournament at Louisville, from UMass.  Another ex-Minutewoman, Ber'nyah Mayo retrurned the postseason with St John's.  And Chloe Welch left Davidson for WBIT team St Joe's.  In other Richmond news, Siobhan Ryan left the Spiders for Georgetown.

George Mason picked up SO to be  6'1" Louis Volker from Missouri State.  She's from Purcellville, VA and Paul IV high school.

Two of the LaSalle eight have new schools.  Nicole Meliioius, All Rookie team, is heading to Seton Hall.  Gabby Turco, who started at St Anselm, is transferring to Rider.

Mallory Ramage left Loyola Chicago for D2 Lewis.

Kristen Williams is leaving UMass for Coastal Carolina.  Worse for the Minutewomen long-term is that Lilly Taulelei has entered the Transfer Portal., joining Alexsia Rose.  Taulelei was All Rookie team.

Dayton lost Anyassa Jones to Ohio and Taisya Koslova to Seattle.  She started her career at Maryland.

Ali Brigham, after three good years at Penn State after leaving GW, is going closer to home finish her career at Bryant.  She started all 35 games for the WBIT semi finalist and was 8.8 ppg and 4.9 rpb.  Bryant was 15 - 15 under first year coach Lynne-Ann Kokoski who had been an assistant at UMass.  Bullogs also got 6'3" Maranda Nyborg from Fordham, and Mimi Rubino from a terrific Fairfield team, although I'm not sure she played last season.

Northwesten struggled last year at 9 - 21, but already has help from the transfer portal - All Ivy First Team Kyla Jones, 5'8" GR from Bown, and Grace Sullivan, 6'4" from Bucknell, 8.8 ppg and 4.9 rpb.

And finally, Emily Jones, 12.5 ppg, left American for Wake Forest.

A smattering of activity on the A10 front, but a couple of note:

VCU's Sarah Te-Biasu is headed to College Park and the Maryland Terrapins.

Also, Duquesne's Tess Myers (grad xfer), entered the portal a while back.

Rev's Monica Marsh is headed to Trinity Valley Community College, so it appears the transfer may have been due to academic issues. All the best to her, and hopefully she can get back to D1 in the future.

She had committed to a JUCO originally (Grayson College) before flipping to GW out of HS so it may have been lack of offers out of HS as well. Marsh had some moments shooting the ball, and hopefully she gets the playing time there to earn a bigger role at the D1 level. Good luck to her!

Lafayette (grad xfer) Makayla Andrews is coming to GW. The 5'10" shooting guard averaged 13.2 ppg for the Leopards on 42% shooting.

Feels like the Trey Moss addition on the WBB side. Rebounding is good, she is a taller guard, and there certainly is a role for an alpha scorer given the loss of Robertson but this looks like a good stats/bad team situation - her team finished in last place in the Patriot.

For a SG, Andrews is a non-presence from three (career 24%, but at least recognizes that and doesn't take many, ~2 a game) and nothing really stands out defensively. Perhaps there is some upside given she's nearly 80% from the FT line (and a smaller role should improve efficiency), but four years of CBB is a pretty large sample size. The 42 assists to 90 turnovers would fit in very well on past McCombs squads - a player that doesn't really value taking care of the basketball and move the ball well enough to excuse three turnovers a game. That's one of the biggest improvements that has to be made next year and this doesn't fix that.

At this point, I feel like McCombs should change things up. Take a chance on a down transfer from the P6 ranks (I realize GW doesn't have probably any NIL on the WBB side, but some player with ability has to want a bigger opportunity). The up transfers have been mostly disappointing despite past production. Much like MBB, an interior presence/improved scoring inside needs to improve going into next season as well.

Having said that, I'm excited about any new addition to the team and am excited to see what Makayla can do in Buff & Blue. Welcome!

first a CORRECTION - I wrote on April 9 that Siobhan Ryan was transferring from Richmond to Georgetown. I'm not sure what side of my brain that came from, but that information is inorrect.  Siobhan Ryan has not committed to any school.  My apologies to her, to the readers, and anyone else I confused.  I'll double check better in the future.  Now here's some of the A10 movement.

Dayton has 3 incoming transfers include GR Nicole Stephens (5'7") from Columbia (19 min, 4.4 ppg), Jayda Johnson (6' FR) from Boston College and Shantavia Dawkins  (5'7") bench player from Iowa State.

Loyola Chicago is getting Emma Theodorsson (6'1") form Bucknelll - Patriot League  Rookie of the Year two seasons ago and second team All Patriot League last year with 12.3 ppg and 5.7 reg.

Duquense has Gabby Hutcherson GR coming in from Pitt, 17.1 min, 5.0 ppg, 3.5 reg.  Tess Myers is heading to Wisconsin.

UMass has 2 bigs transferring to Amherst.  I believe both have 2 years eligibility left. Aleah Sorrentino, (6'2") from Lipscomb after starting at Ole Miss in 2020.  She has a medical redshirt and a medical waiver in her career.  She averaged double figures in points during her 2 years at Lipscomb (ASUN) and 7.4 reg during her 2 seasons.  Megan Olbygs (6'1") is transferring from Villanova.  She is from Norwood Ma which gives the Minutewomen 3 bigs from the Bay State, including returnee Chinenye Odinigbo (6'5", Walpole) and FR Jessica Ross (6'3") from Marion.  Minutewomen need a guard or two.  Had a visit from an Oakland (MI) guard last weekend.

Tenin Magassa is heading to Illinois from Rhode Island.  The Illini are coached by her former Dayton coach Shaunna Green.  Magassa and Green left the Flyers in the same off-season, after two years together..
