GW Hoops / New Management Wanted for GW Hoops

Hello, GW Hoops community!

Due to a significant change in my life (a new job), I am planning to phase myself out of the management of this site. While I will remain active as a member of this community, I definitely need to divest myself from the oversight role here.

I have asked one of our active and well-respected members if he would be interested in taking it over, but he also has time constraints that may make it impossible. He has indicated he would take it on if nobody else was interested and approvable by me.

That word… Approvable… Is really important to me here I want to make sure that whomever takes this on has the same view that I do about keeping the site civil and accessible to all individuals, even if they are not well liked by others on the board.

The time commitment isn’t highly significant, but rather how you deal with the disagreements and occasional attacks on the board that is most important to me.

If you are interested, please send me a direct message. Let me know how you believe you would manage things.

I am certainly not saying that I have been perfect in my decision-making, but I am looking for someone who has the same relative attitude toward things that I do.

A quick follow up…:

The new administrator for this site has to be above reproach, someone who has never been involved in any of the attacks or nasty discussions on this or the previous site.

Without that, the administrator won’t be able to be successful here.

A quick update.

I believe we have found my successor in running the board. No announcement yet, but I will let everyone know who’s taking over as soon as the transition is ready.

This site provides a great service to those of us who are remote from the DC area and need a way to connect with GW’s program(s). Thanks to so many participants who are well versed in GW current events and history, so I can indulge myself with knowledge and express my observations and thoughts.

But VERY SPECIAL thanks to BGF for making this all possible.

I'd like to echo the sentiments expressed above by thanking Barry for both creating and overseeing this site. He started this at a time when the old board was being shut down and many of us wondered where we ever might find another GW basketball forum. For the most part, the regulars here are like-minded GW basketball diehards. The news which is broken here is almost always noteworthy, the debates for the most part are healthy, and the conversation is generally intelligent. Thank your Barry for your efforts. Wishing you great success in your new position.
