Ugh. La Salle gets 2 threes, one at the buzzer.
44-40, La Salle at the end of 3.

But, we can definitely win this game.

Here comes the 4th Quarter!!

Time to plan on pulling the cord on this rodeo. A display of no idea of basic basket skills -- the players are without any confidence. How can I reach this opinion when I would love to see it work out? I say this when at the same time,  I am OK with what I am seeing from the men. We are seeing flashes wth the men.

LAS 61 GW 54, final.
Game of runs.
But that 14 point deficit in the first part of the 4th ended up being too much.

These are games the team needs to win. Home against a 2-7 A-10 team. The Bona game earlier with the blown lead was sad, but at least it was on the road. Very disappointing, but at least we'll get another chance against an equally not great George Mason team on Saturday.

We did a good job on the glass to keep things closer than it otherwise would have been, but we continue to just shoot the ball poorly. 34% from the field and 27% from 3 won't get the job done. We turned the ball over 17 times as well, but so did La Salle so I guess that's even.

The decider is definitely going 4/11 from the line (36%). When you shoot free throws that poorly you don't deserve to win.

In the 2016-2017 season, Rizzotti inherited a group of role players that supported Jonquel Jones, a once in a lifetime recruit. Caira Washington was probably the best of those players. GW finished 20-10, and earned a WNIT bid. The best player on that team was Lexi Martins-- a Rizzotti recruit. If not for her, the team would have probably been mediocre. Two players, Briana Cummings and Kelli Prange had very ordinary years.

In 2017-2018, GW won the A10 tourney, surprising everyone.  This was because two players had breakout years—especially Briana Cummings, who remained a defensive force, but increased her offensive output by 120%, and becoming an all A10 caliber player. Prange increased her scoring over 50% by becoming an inside force. Did they do this all on their own, or were they developed by the coaches? Who knows.

Last season, when we finished 10-20, our two prior recruits (Bautista and Mahoney) threw up over 500 shots, hitting on about 32% of them. Bautista was a great floor leader, but offensively challenged as a scorer, and Mahoney was streaky at best. Our best player was Neila Luma. We had no juniors on the team because those prior recruits had transferred, and are now rotational players for lower level D1 teams.

This year, we have no seniors that were inherited from the previous regime. The team is young and without last year’s best player they have struggled mightily. However, we should wait until the young players are juniors and seniors before we make broad assertions about their talents. Maybe there’s a Briana Cummings in that group.

I am probably now firmly in the Dr. Mike camp although I acknowledge that there are arguments that can be made for one more year.

I will say this though ... if GW decides to continue, TV should insist she drop the national team gig and put 100% of her effort into GW and better recruiting. If she won't agree to that, then bye-bye. The only thing the USA basketball stuff is doing is helping Rizzotti. It sure isn't helping GW.

And if TV decides to cut the cord, she should call our old friend Joe up and ask his advice for possible replacements.

GWRising.... as I said earlier this month..... We should look over at Ward Circle . Our coach is recruting OK. She is running plays that dont match her talent. If she iis still coachig next year, tho only thing that she has going for her right now is the National Team connection --calling Joe is a good idea! I would do it before making a big decision.

I would love to have his opinion after watchin a couple games
