Just an FYI...

Heard from a fellow poster on here that the ticket office is saying that if you're a renewing season ticket holder (or, I guess, first time season ticket purchaser), you must purchase your season tickets by July 15th in order to receive the Georgetown exhibition as part of your package.

After July 15th, you will have to pay separately for the game,

Why did the athletic department charge this game as extra instead of including in the season ticket package? It's a $15 seat (well at least for my seat). Thought that was strange.

I am not picking on GW, I swear that I am not, because this is seemingly true of all sports leagues and teams.  We live in a day and age where you could buy tickets to see your favorite NFL team play on the road on a Sunday at 1:00, only to be flexed two weeks before the game to the Sunday night spot.  Gotta go to work on Monday?  Already have your plane tickets to fly home Sunday night?  Figure it out.

Yeah but that's one reason why GW is great, no real scheduling shenanigans like with the NFL.

I can't believe some of you guys pretending like this is just another exhibition game. This is the biggest home game since Virginia, which was what, 2017? We're playing the school from two miles west, the Evil Empire (lol), who we haven't played in 40 years. And you're acting like it's just another game.

I haven't been this excited for a GW game in years. Props to CC and Cooley for getting it done. Would love some thoughts from the old timers about the real reasons JTJr wouldn't play all these years. Surprised I've never read any definitive journalism on that in my 20 years in DC

It was part of my plan

Looks like the game will be broadcast on Monumental network including a 30 min pregame show.

Not sure if it’ll be simulcast on ESPN+

Alum '04, the real reasons were simple.  During the 1980-81 season, Georgetown was on the way up (Ewing was a year away but they did have Sleepy Floyd among others) and GW was moving in the other direction (this would be Bob Tallent's final season as head coach).  GW had a miserable season that year but somehow took Georgetown to double overtime before losing.  At the end of that game, JTII commented that he would honor next season's meeting because it had already been scheduled but that would be it for GW-Georgetown after that.  (Gtown would win the final meeting at the Cap Centre with Ewing outdueling fellow freshman Mike Brown.)

Not much more to the story.  The Hoyas were on their way to becoming a national power and Thompson felt the Hoyas stood nothing to gain and everything to lose by playing GW.  He rarely played Maryland but realized that a loss would not be regarded as catastrophic.  He would play other locals because none had threatened Gtown the way that GW had.  GW posed just enough of a threat to bypass altogether.

If you are still looking for tickets and are a furloughed Federal employee, GW is offering 2 for free while supplies last.

I really do hope that everyone is looking forward to this game.  There's no need to allow one poster in particular to dampen your enthusiasm.  It's "only" an exhibition and most everyone intellectually understands this.  At the same time, you can't convince me that both teams are treating this game as a normal exhibition.  No, it does not carry the same gravitas of a conference tournament game or a UVA playing us during the regular season.  But, I am expecting a spirited crowd, one which I hope provides a true home court advantage.

It's everyone's prerogative to view this game in the manner they would like.  If you choose to perceive this as nothing more than an initial opportunity to see this year's team, just like you may have in the past against a Bowie State or UDC, that's up to you.  Personally, this experience should be far more entertaining.  Am unconvinced that there would be television coverage, or that GW would use the exhibition as an inducement to purchase season tickets, if this weren't the case.

If it doesn't show up on ESPN+,I believe you can subscribe to Monumental Network + for $19.99/mo: View Plans

Definitely not ideal for just an exhibition game, but that should work.

Not that anyone on this site (and especially not I) would ever advocate engaging in illegal activity, but there likely are pirate websites that retransmit Monumental Sports for free. If Monumental does not have a single-game PPV option, that would be an alternative for those who are not beholden to 100% compliance with copyright laws. Otherwise, pay the cash and behold the marvel that is a month of Bullets and Crapitals games.

Thanks, everyone. One way or another, I’ll be watching.

Hope LSF and I see some of you in the Grand Caymans.

Monumental Sports Network has the game as George Washington at Georgetown.  Gee Ted, thanks for the love.  After all these years, still no respect.

Checked on Ticketmaster this morning and only saw about 35 seats left for sale.

35 tickets left! Hopefully a sellout. I imagine most Georgetown fans want this game as bad as we do and we don't have to wait 40 years for another one.

Unfortunately one of our friends did not buy a ticket in time! Does anyone have an extra they are not going to be able to use? Happy to pay for it.

It will only be a sellout if the students show up. Remember, a certain number of tickets are reserved for students and not on the Ticketmaster site.

Hopefully, the clown protestors don't impede students or others trying to get to the game.

You know we can't have nice things. Today's a day that everyone is psyched about  and just want to cheer on GW but you have to  put a political dig in.  A peaceful protest is still a right in this country (Well for now).
We're a community made up of different opinions but a common love for  GW, so let's just celebrate GW and keep politics out of it. Lets be better
