Rev's Monica Marsh is headed to Trinity Valley Community College, so it appears the transfer may have been due to academic issues. All the best to her, and hopefully she can get back to D1 in the future.

A smattering of activity on the A10 front, but a couple of note:

VCU's Sarah Te-Biasu is headed to College Park and the Maryland Terrapins.

Also, Duquesne's Tess Myers (grad xfer), entered the portal a while back.

GW's Jaylin Hartman is in the portal, not surprising given her limited role and lack of PT this season.
Also, Taylor Jameson a very capable guard from George Mason has also entered the portal (graduate transfer).

A few other A10 transfers of note --

Tenin Magassa 6'5" Center at URI; graduate transfer.
Taylor Napper 6' Junior Forward at St. Bonaventure
Eight players on La Salle's current roster (what's going on there?)
The usual smattering of transfers at some of the other school.
Other GW players in the portal are Gingras and Laureano, who were not on GW's roster this year.

And as WMC mentioned in another thread, Sutphin (Davidson) is staying, and UMass is losing two key players in Williams and Rose.

Final Results: 4th quarter collapse ends GWs season 75-68 to St. Louis.

The Revs hit their first 4 shots to set the tone early, but St. louis was able to answer on the offensive end as well. Behind 7 points by Lok, GW was able to take a 12-10 lead into the media timeout. The Revs finished the quarter strong with solid defense and effective transition offense. After shooting 9-16 from the field and 3-6 from beyond the arc, they took a 21-14 lead into the 2nd quarter. GW started the 2nd period fast and raced out to a 10-point lead, but an extended period of one careless offensive play after another led to a St. Louis 11-0 run and 29-28 lead with 4:08 left in the period. After the timeout, GW regained their composure and outscored the Billikens 8-5 in the final moments of the period to take a 36-34 lead into halftime. Robertson led the way for GW with 12 points, while Brown and Lok chipped in 7 points each. Kennedy had 10 points for St. Louis. The 3rd quarter started with both teams raising the defensive intensity. A big offensive rebound by Taiwo and subsequent 3-pointer by Innis was the key play up to the media TO, and took GW 45-41 lead. After the break, GW shut down the Billikens on defense and ran the lead up to 56-45 with one period to go. To start the 4th, GW’s offense stumbled out of the gate and St. Louis went on a 9-2 tear to cut the lead to 4 points with 6:08 left in the game. After that, the officials helped to decide the outcome of the game, calling a totally unnecessary technical foul on Robertson after she made a basket to bring GW’s lead back up to 5 points. That changed the momentum of the game and after regaining the lead, St. Louis did not look back. To add insult to injury, the officials ejected Robertson from the game in the closing seconds, for a foul that looked like anything but flagrant. Robertson led GW with 23 points, but Brown (10), Lok (15), and Innis (12) also finished in double figures. McMakin had 22 points, followed by Kenne

Final Result: GW parlays aggressive suffocating and sufficient offense to fend off LUC for a 50-43 victory.

The game looked to be competitive from the start, but GW had a few unforced turnovers that gave LUC more field goal attempts and allowed them to keep pace. At 2:54 of the 1st, the teams were tied at 12-12. Robertson scored the first 8 points for GW, but unfortunately was hit with her 2nd foul and forced to the bench. The Ramblers managed to take a 17-15 lead at quarter’s end. GW’s defense shut out Loyola’s offense the first 5 minutes of the 2nd quarter, but managed only 6 points to take a tenuous 21-17 lead. Foul troubles continued to mount for GW, with Brown and Sims also picking up their 2nd fouls. After a 6-0 run, GW increased the lead to 8 points, but numerous sloppy plays and missed shots allowed LUC to finish the quarter with a 7-0 run of their own and go into halftime trailing only 27-26. Robertson, who only played 5 minutes in the half, led GW with 8 points. Fisher led the Ramblers with 9 points. Both teams shot about 30% for the half, but LUC was taking tough shots, whereas GW missed on numerous open opportunities. The 2nd half opened with both sides struggling a bit offensively, and stumbling to a 34-34 tally at the media break. Foul trouble continued to hinder GW, creating unfamiliar rotations and a mistake-prone offense. Again, the defense was stout, and shut out the Ramblers for the last 5 minutes of the period. Robertson’s banked 3-pointer broke the tie, and her pair of free throws gave GW a 39-34 lead heading into the final quarter. GW struck first in the 4th, but LUC was able to counter on GW’s missed opportunities to close within 3 points at the 5:21 mark. After that, GW’s defense controlled the game, forcing tough shots by the Ramblers and finishing enough scoring chances to secure a 50-43 win. Robertson led all scorers with 16 points, followed by Brown’s 14 points. Taiwo finished with 11 boards. Fisher had 13 points for

Opponent Summary: In the final regular season conference contest, Loyola Chicago visits the Smith Center on Saturday. After a rough first year in the A10 (1-15, 15th place), the Ramblers were projected to once again finish in last place again this season. Exceeding expectations, they come into this matchup with 8 conference wins and are tied for 7th place in the standings. Their best wins include a 73-68 road win against Northwestern and a 61-56 A10 victory over URI in January. The Ramblers are led by guards Sam Galanopoulos (13.5 ppg) and Alyssa Fisher (13.3 ppg), but perhaps their best all-around player is 6’2” Sitori Tanin, who averages 10.2 pg and 6.3 rpg. In last year’s second contest with GW, Tanin was dominant inside, finishing the game with a 17/10 double-double. As s team, Loyola averages 64.2 on 41.2% field goal accuracy (34.2 from 3-point range), while yielding 63.9 ppg to their opponents.

About the game: Loyola added St. Francis transfer Fisher to complement Tanin and Galanopoulos to strengthen last year’s roster, facilitating a move to the middle of the A10 pack. Loyola is a confident squad that will be looking to avenge last year’s losses to the Revs. For GW, rebounding will be the key. The shooti

Final Result: GW edges Davidson on the road 45-40.

It was slow going to start as the short-handed Wildcats could only muster 4 points before the media timeout. Robertson countered with all 6 of GW’s points for the early lead. Neither team was fluid offensively after the break, but GW came up with some scores and Sims’ and-one with 18 seconds left lifted GW to a 14-8 1st quarter lead. Despite some sloppy early possessions in the 2nd quarter, GW was able to increase their lead 24-16 on the strength of 3 3-pointers by Lok. After a Davidson timeout, GW was unable to score for the remainder of the quarter. Fortunately for the Revs, the Wildcats could only manage 4 points, and GW took a 24-20 lead into the halftime break. Lok led the Revs with 9 points, followed by 8 points from Robertson. Maddie Plank led the Wildcats with 9 points. The 2nd half opened with brutally bad offense by both sides. As a result of multiple unforced turnovers, the Revs could only manage 4 points, but still maintained a 28-25 lead. After the media timeout, things didn’t get better, and after a 4-point play by Davidson as time was running out, the teams went into the final period tied at 31-all. GW had 9 turnovers in the 3rd to let Davidson back into the game. At the first stoppage of the 4th quarter at 2:52, GW led 41-40 in a see-saw battle. GW managed to keep their composure and shut out the Wildcats in the final minutes to take a 45-40 win. Robertson hit a clutch field goal and a pair of free throws to seal the deal. She finished with a game-high 21 points. No one else had double figures in scoring, but Taiwo had 14 boards. Plank, who was injured late in the 3rd quarter, led Davidson with 12 points.

This game could only be described as ugly. Davidson, with a make-shift lineup, struggled to get any offensive continuity throughout the game. But even without Sutphin and Dunn, they had an overall size advantage and tried take the smaller GW players inside over and over with limited s

Opponent Summary: If things pan out, GW will travel to Davidson, N.C. to take on the Wildcats on Wednesday evening. Due to health issues, Davidson has had to forfeit their last two conference games, resulting in an 8-8 A10 record coming into this contest. After a sparkling 10-1 run in the OOC schedule that included a single loss to North Carolina, the Wildcats are 8-8 in league play, essentially taking care of business with the bottom half of the conference and struggling to keep up with the top tier teams. Davidson is led by Elle Sutphin and Suzi-Rose Deegan, a pair of preseason All-A10 selections. Sutphin comes into the game averaging 12.9 ppg, while Deegan leads the team at 13.3 ppg. Charlise Dunn (12.7 ppg, 6.1 rpg) and Millie Prior (9.9 ppg, 7.6 rpg) work the boards and provide an inside scoring presence. Mallorie Haines and Issy Morgan are the primary outside threats, shooting 46% and 44% from beyond the arc respectively. As a team, Davidson scores 66 ppg on 44.1% field goal accuracy (34% from distance) and yields just 55.8 ppg to their opponents.

About the game: This game will be hard for GW to prepare for given Davidson’s current health situation. Under normal circu

Final Result: GW hangs on to win 59-55 contest with UMASS.

On Alumni Day, the Revolutionaries came out a bit ragged with 4 early turnovers that hindered their offense. The Minutewomen took advantage inside the paint and as the Revs struggled, ended the 1st quarter ahead 16-13. GW could only manage 4-14 from the field and finished with 6 turnovers in the period. Neither team could get much traction to start the 2nd, but a transition 3-pointer by Engel helped GW keep it close 21-20 at the media timeout. Some timely defense and critical scores helped GW take a 29-25 lead into the half-time break. With Brown not suited up, the Revs had to go deeper into the bench, and once again Sims stepped up to propel GW to the lead with 9 points. Kulesza led UMASS with 12 points. GW’s poor shooting (9-27) prevented a bigger lead going into the 2nd half. Lok picked up her third foul as GW stumbled out of the gate in the 3rd. Hyduke sparked a UMASS rally and the Minutewomen overtook GW 37-35 at the media TO. Thanks to some strong play by freshmen Sims and Lewis, GW was able to keep pace and entered the final period tied at 46-46. At the 4:58 mark, GW led 54-52, with Buford scoring 5 of the Revs’ 8 early points. In crunch time, GW could only manage 5 points in the last 5 minutes of the game, but fortunately, the defense held UMASS to just 3 points. An and-one by Sims at the 3:00 mark was the big play during the final moments leading up to GW’s 59-55 victory. Sims led the Revs with a career-high 16 points. Kulesza, also with 16 points, led the Minutewomen.

The story of the game was GW’s bench. With Brown out, and Robertson and Lok struggling, timely contributions from Sims, Lewis (8 points), and Buford (5 points) gave GW a 33-10 advantage in bench scoring. With the game on the line, Sims and Lewis were on the floor in favor of Robertson and Lok. GW’s 17 turnovers, including 7 by Innis, helped UMASS keep the game close, but Taiwo’s 20 rebounds helped the Revs

Opponent Summary: GW welcomes UMASS to Smith Center on Saturday for a noon tipoff. After a sterling season a year ago-- a coaching change, player attrition, and spate of injuries has taken a toll, leaving the squad with a deficit in both depth and talent. The Minutewomen come into this game at 3-25. After going 2-10 in an OOC schedule that included some highly ranked squads (e.g., Maryland, Washington State, and Boston College), UMASS has only been able to win a single conference matchup, an early season home win against Dayton. Stefanie Kulesza has been their best all-around player, coming into this contest at 11.2 ppg and 6.9 rpg. Guards Kristin Williams (12.0 ppg) and Alexia Rose (11.4 ppg) also contribute double figure scoring, while Bre Bellamy (6.7 ppg and 4.2 rpg) and 6’5” Chinenye Odenigbo anchor their front line. As a team, UMASS averages 58.3 points per game, while shooting 39.7% from the field (30.7% from beyond the arc). Defense has been their biggest issue, allowing 73.0 ppg on 46.1% shooting and conceding 8.3 rebounds a game to opponents.

Final Result: GW suffers 79-69 road loss at Duquesne.

With Brown back in the starting lineup, GW’s offense, thanks to a hot start by Robinson was competitive. Unfortunately, the defense had no answers for the Dukes’ inside game as they took a 15-12 lead into the media timeout. GW stayed hot after the break and in what was likely their best quarter offensively of the entire season, took a 26-22 lead into the 2nd quarter. Robertson led all scorers with 13 points, while Townsend tallied 7 points for the Dukes. Both offenses slowed a bit to start the 2nd quarter, but GW managed to keep a small lead going into the media TO. After trading baskets the rest of the way, Duquesne took back the lead, going into the halftime break ahead 40-39. Buford was huge for GW, scoring 9 of the Revs’ 13 2nd quarter points. Robertson had 15 points at the break and Townsend continued to lead the Dukes with 12 points. To start the 3rd, Duquesne, on the strength of consecutive treys, managed to increase their lead. But defensive stops and transition baskets by GW kept the Revs in the game, behind 50-49 at the 4:25 mark. The seesaw battle continued as GW countered every Duquesne run and trailed 57-56 going into the final period. Defenses intensified to start the 4th, as Duquesne maintained a small 64-61 lead going into the final 4:45 of the game. A loss of composure in the final minutes by GW led to some rushed and questionable shots, and Duquesne was able to close out the game. Robertson finished with 29 points, followed by Sims 11 points. For Duquesne, McConnell had 16 points, while Jenni Kaiku added 13 points. Hamilton and Townsend chipped in 12 points apiece.

Although GW had troubles scoring in the final moments, the story of the game was the Dukes’ 21-27 performance from the free throw line. In contrast, GW only has 11 attempts overall. Credit Duquesne for going inside to Townsend, Hamilton, and Precious Johnson when they needed a score, which resulted in close-in baske
