Maeva Fotsa, who didn't suit up this year for GW is in the portal. The JUCO transfer, listed as a center at 6'3", leaves Loving as the only true post player on the roster for now. Hopefully, the new coaching staff is bringing in some talented length and physicality through the portal. We'll definitely need it.

For sure. I don't remember seeing any announcements about even the full coaching staff yet which is very surprising. Thought that would be finalized by now.
Also I just saw that Nya Robertson is heading to Tennessee. Good that she's leaving SMU because that new coach they hired is awful. The way Barnes put down all mid-major coaches was inappropriate and wrong.
The coaching staff part seems completed.... now if we can only get some talented front court transfers...

GW Softball has some potential. Consider that up until the second Dayton Game, Copuz was just 2-18 in A10 play, but the Revs managed to go 6-1. Heffley (batting .422) and Layfield (FR batting .324) are having good, consistent seasons so far, and Todoroki (another FR, who's batting .322) has started to hit as well. Hayward (SOPH) is a fixture in CF and Gilliland (SOPH) has also started very game this year. So far, the middle of the lineup, which is packed with the Ivy transfers (Mays, Travieso, and Skotz) has not produced like upper classman on the offensive side, but Skotz and Travieso have been great in the field. GW has the luxury of having two aces (Smith and Reed) but also more pitching depth than in past years with Torreso and Green (who shut out UMES earlier this week). But as DMV alluded to, leaving runners on base has been a huge problem, and one that could come back to bite the Revs.

Final Result: URI grinds out the win 52-41, to advance in the A10 tournament.
Today’s starters: Andrews, Engel, Lewis, Mott and Reynolds. GW opened the game with turnovers on their first 2 possessions, but settled down to take a 7-6 lead into the media timeout at the 4:46 mark. Reynolds committed her 2nd foul early and had to go to the bench. Both teams competed well for the remainder of the quarter and GW was able to take a slim 18-16 lead into the 2nd quarter. After a pretty good quarter, play became ragged for both teams to start the 2nd quarter. Scoring was scarce, but GW managed to stay ahead 23-20 with 4:52 left in the period. URI started to push the pace and started trapping on the press, knocking GW out of its rhythm to take a 29-27 lead into halftime. Rhode Island had balanced scoring with Ines DeBroise getting 6 points followed by Kaur and Dutat, whom had 5 points each. Andrews led GW with 12 points and Lewis added 6 points. GW was hurt by poor free throw shooting (only 1-6 in the half), and the Rams’ offensive rebounding, which led to 10 second chance points. The 2nd half started with both teams continuing to struggle on offense (or playing great defense depending on how you look at it). Sims’ 5 points on a nice drive and 3-pointer helped the Revs stay even at 33-33 with 4:55 left to go in the 3rd quarter. The Rams’ trapping press stared to take its toll, and GW failed to score for the rest of the quarter. A Reynolds foul at the buzzer on a Kaur 3-pointer, helped URI push the lead to 38-33 going into the final period. GW continued to struggle, missing a number of difficult shots, despite making a number of defensive stops. With 4:14 left to go in the game, URI pulled ahead 46-37, a seemingly insurmountable lead, given GW’s offensive woes. Although the GW defense kept URI in check, a parade to the foul line ended the game at 52-41 to the Rams advantage. Kaur finished with 12 points for URI, followed by 11 for DeBroise. Andrews

Great performance from WBB against Loyola yesterday. I had felt like the team was capable of that all year (they were certainly not lose by 40 multiple times bad) which has made this season all the more frustrating. The offense has looked a lot more creative lately. Maybe Makayla's most efficient/best performance of the season. Kamari was en fuego in that final quarter too! Regardless of what happens against Rhody, it was good to see that at least once before the season wraps up.
I agree. I also felt all year that a few adjustments were necessary to get the offense to be more effective and so that individuals could play to their strengths. What's disappointing is that McCombs never saw the obvious (or ignored them) and essentially tanked the season for the players. Novak is actually coaching.

Opponent Summary: After knocking off Chicago Loyola in the opening round of the A10 tournament, The GW Revolutionaries face the University of Rhode Island for the second time in 8 days. The last time out, GW stymied the Rams offense in Kingston to come away of a victory that prevented URI from moving into the top 4 of the A10 conference. Thursday’s contest will be Rhode Island’s first game since that disappointing loss. The Rams are led by San Diego transfer student Harsimran Kaur, a 6’4” forward who averages 12.2 ppg and 7.6 rpg, while hitting on 36% of her 115 3-point attempts. Sophie Phillips (9.7 ppg) has taken over 200 3-point attempts, providing another consistent outside threat. Hawa Komara completes the trio of top performers, contributing 7.5 ppg and 6.5 rpg. Final Result: GW extends season with 65-44 drubbing of Chicago Loyola.
Today’s starters: Andrews, Engel, Lewis, Mott and Reynolds. After an initial miss on a 3-pointer, GW went to their inside game and managed to forge an 8-4 lead at the 4:48 mark of the 1st quarter. GW continued to go inside after the break and was able to increase the lead to 15-8 going into the 2nd quarter. GW worked for a number of open 3-pointers, but couldn’t capitalize, finishing 0-6 in the opening quarter. Loyola was not much better, going only 1-9. To start the 2nd period, both teams struggled to score and at the 3:43 mark of the 2nd quarter, the score stood 20-13 in favor of GW. Things picked up for both teams, but once again, GW was able to take advantage on the inside and ended the half on top 27-18. Bernard led Loyola with 8 1st half points, while Andrews and Reynolds topped GW with 7 points each. GW’s missed opportunities were the story to start the second half, as missed 3-pointers or lay-ins let Loyola creep back into the game. At the 3:45 mark of the Loyola had cut the lead to 32-25. The Revs were able to rally in the final moments of the 3rd quarter, and thanks to a shooter-friendly bounce on Sim’s trey, GW extended to a 41-28 lead going into the final period. An 11-2 barrage by GW to start the 4th quarter forced a Loyola timeout and GW forged ahead 52-30 at the 6:26 mark. GW milked the clock for the remainder of the game, scored with regularity, and finished with a 65-44 win. Bernard led the Ramblers with 13 points. Andrews (14 points, 9 rebounds), Sims (13 points), and Reynolds (12 points) had big games for GW.
For the second consecutive game, the GW defense held their opponent to under 30% from the field and leveraged their inside offense to come away with a win. Despite hitting just 6-20 from beyond the arc, GW finished the game at 52% overall behind a 12-19 performance on layups, and punished Loyola inside with a 38-18 advantage in points-in-the-pain

Final Result: GW upsets Rhode Island in Kingston, 54-46.
Starting 5: Andrews, Engle, Lewis, Mott, Reynolds. In typical Revs-fashion of late, the inside game was working early, staking them to an 11-7 lead with 3:39 to go in the 1st quarter. At this point in the game, the Revs had not taken a 3-point attempt. GW couldn’t score after the timeout, but URI also struggled, trailing at the end of the quarter 11-9. GW’s biggest problem was Andrews’ 1-6 start, with several close-in misfires. In the 2nd quarter, Sims started strong on the inside and despite a pair of long treys by Kaur, GW was able to take a 20-17 lead into the 3:45 media timeout. Both teams continued to struggle after the timeout, but GW was able to hold onto a 24-20 lead at the half. Only a spate of missed layups by GW prevented the lead from being bigger. Anaelle Dutat led the Rams with 9 points. Mott led GW with 9 points as well, and Andrews chipped in 5 points. Offense was again scarce for both teams to start the 2nd half, and despite more in-close misfires by GW, the Revs were able to maintain a 29-24 lead with 4:59 to go in the 3rd period. Neither team improved greatly after the break, but GW was able to take a 36-29 lead into the final quarter. Some unforced ball handling errors by Andrews hampered the GW offense out of the gate, but they managed to keep the lead at 43-37 with 4:59 to go in the game. GW kept their composure down the stretch and by hitting some key free throws, ended the regular season with a 54-46 road win. Dutat finished the game with 17 points for URI. For GW, Andrews led the way with 15 points, followed by Mott with 13 points and Lewis with 11 points.
GW finally found a formula for winning – eschew the 3-pointer and focus on the inside game. The Revs took only 4 3-point attempts in the game, hitting on a pair of them. Contrast that with URI’s 4-26 exhibition, which allowed GW to control the inside with a 30-16 advantage on points-in-the-paint. The

After 3 straight wins that included an upset of St. Joes, URI fell to St. Louis on the road on Wednesday night. Final Result: GW battles, but loses 61-55 to UMASS.
Starting 5: Andrews, Engle, Lewis, Mott, Reynolds. The Revs started out well, defeating the UMASS full court pressure and converting possessions into easy inside scores by Mott. UMASS was able to cash in on some open looks, as GW took a 10-9 lead into the media timeout at the 4:31 mark. Both offenses stalled after the break, but GW got the better of things, and an Andrews' bank-shot 3-pointer lifted GW to a 17-12 1st quarter lead. In the 2nd quarter, UMASS began trapping on their press, causing problems for the GW backcourt and enabling an 8-0 run that put them back in the lead. GW managed a couple of inside field goals to counter the Minutewomen surge and trailed 22-21 at the 4:57 mark. GW stayed close until a gratuitous defensive error on the final inbounds play of the quarter gave UMASS a 31-26 lead at halftime. Olbrys led UMASS with 10 points, followed by 7 points from Palmieri. Mott led GW with 8 points and Andrews chipped in with 7 points. Lewis had 9 boards for GW. After the halftime break, the teams traded scores and UMASS maintained their 5-point margin 37-32 with 4:57 to go in the 3rd quarter. Keyed by their defense, GW was able to tie the game at 37-all, forcing a UMASS timeout with 2:36 to go. After the timeout, the Revs’ defense continued to hold fast, propelling them to 42-39 lead heading into the 4th quarter. The teams fought back and forth for the first 7 minutes of the 3rd quarter and the score was knotted at 55-all with 2:30 to go. After that point, GW couldn’t hit another basket and UMASS closed out the game with 6 free throws to take a hard earned 61-55 victory. Olbrys had 20 points and McKayle ended a big second half to finished with 18 points for UMASS. Mott led GW with 11 points and Sims followed with 10 points.

She's not an improved player. She's still a turnover machine, and far as scoring 18.5 ppg, it's only because she is taking more shots (2nd in the country in shot attempts per game). She has the lowest shooting % of the Top 50 scorers at 32.5%, and is only one of a handful shooting under 40%. Last year at GW, she was at 16.2 ppg with 4.3 fewer attempts per game, but shot 37% from the field, and had fewer turnovers per game.
Of course, maybe we should give the SMU coach another year to see if she "develops" her further.

Final Result: Davidson leverages big 3rd quarter for 73-54 win over GW.
Starting 5: Andrews, Engle, Lewis, Mott, Reynolds. GW started out ice-cold, missing multiple makeable attempts. Davidson took advantage, hitting a pair of treys on the way to a 10-7 lead at the 4:46 mark of the 1st quarter. The Wildcat man-to-man full court press did not force turnovers, but sped up GW’s halfcourt offense and forced some rushed shots. GW’s cold spell continued, but the defense helped keep the Revs close, trailing 16-11 to start the 2nd quarter. After the timeout, Davidson hit some inside shots, while GW continued to struggle. Davidson raced out to a 10-point lead, but a 12-0 GW surge, sparked an Engel corner 3-pointer, let GW close the quarter with a 32-30 lead at halftime. Dunn led the Wildcats with 10 points. For GW, Reynolds had 9 points, followed by Lewis, who chipped in 7 points. The 3rd quarter opened with both teams hot, but only Davidson was able to sustain their offense. The Wildcats took a 44-40 lead with 4:56 left in the period. A spate of GW turnovers late in the period helped to balloon the Wildcat margin to 58-45 heading into the final period. With no answers for a red-hot Dunn, GW fell behind even further, trailing 68-50 with 4:54 left in the game. The Wildcats coasted through the final minutes to take a 73-54 victory. Dunn paced Davidson with 25 points, hitting on 9-13 shots and grabbing 7 boards. Lewis led GW with 11 points, while Mott had a 10/10 double-double and Reynolds chipped in with 10 points.
After another great start, GW reverted to some bad habits and virtually ceded the contest to Davidson in the latter moments of the 3rd quarter. The main culprits were questionable shot selection, poor interior passing, and too much dribbling. Although Davidson’s defense was effective, GW’s offense went away from what worked well against Richmond and lost focus long enough for Davidson to put the game out of reach in the 3rd quarter. A bre
