7-9 will not happen given that we play 18 conference games, not 16.  I am interested to see what role Nessah plays especially since he has missed eight games.  I think he can make a difference if he is playing at least 15 mnutes a game and is as good as he is projected to be.

Are we ever going to see this guy on the court again?  He missed three games in the summer in FIBA under 19 (or 18?) and I have not heard anything other than CC hopes he comes back sooner rather than later.  That was quite a while ago..

My question/observation is that the only player in the eight man rotation playing so far  who is shooting under 40% overall in FG% and under under 70% in FT % is taking more shots than anyone (including Jun 51-49) and nearly twice as many shots from the floor as anyone else (Moss is next with 30 and Castro with 26)?  I understand that Drumgoole is expected to be a volume shooter, but why not cut back a bit until he hits a rhythm and allow the shots to go to Autry, Jacoi, Moss and maybe Nessah when he gets more minutes?

Political science.  Adams Hall was home my freshman year.  We saw games together at the A10 tournament I attended in 2007 in Atlantic City.

LSF, I have a suggestion not about the substance, but the style of your posts.   You are an older guy like me (class of 72) and I am interested in what your take is on these games and other issues.  But your posts are hard for me to read because they are one long run-on paragraph. Take a look at Gwmayhem's post two above yours and compare it to yours.  Mayhem's is much easier to read.  I suspect even younger posters might agree.

Again, I make this suggestion because I am interested in what you have to say..

Hungary beats the Swiss 78-63 but Nessah scores 22 points on 7-15 shooting (46.7%) including 4-5 on 3 pointers and 4-4 from the foul line. He also lead the team with 6 boards and had 3 assists and 3 TOs.  No on else on Switzerland had more than 12 points and the team shot 22/59 or 37.3%  His +/- was -18 but his efficiency rate was 20 while no one else on the Swiss  was higher than 10..

I have a more positive outlook than some of the comments above suggest. I do not know how adding Drumgoole will play out but one thing I always look for in a player is assist to turnover ratio.  He had 79 assists and 51 turnovers while Max had 37 assists and 68 turnovers.   Trey Moss was 71-49 and Sean Hansen was 59 to 41.  Only Castro at 6 to16 was negative in that category and that was a small sample size.  Nor do I think it likely he will be handling the ball much.

As a team, GW was 395 to 397.  In football you often hear analysts say the team that has the fewest turnovers is likely to win.   While football to basketball may not be a precise comparison, if you look at final NCAA team statistics, 22 of the top 24 in Assist to turnover ratio made the NCAA tournament including number 1 Uconn and number 14 Purdue.  The only teams in the top 24 in assist to turnover ratio to not make the tournament were #4 Princeton and # 22 Indiana State, both of whom could easily have made the tournament.

So whatever rebounding we may lose with Max transferring could be made up in fewer turnovers by three of the four newcomers.

LSF, Castro's stats are for 314 minutes mostly against the Big East; Akinbola's are for 848 minutes, mostly against the A-10.  I have no idea if we will or can get Castro but remember we need two big men, not just one.  Besides he also did have 15 blocks.

Jack Gohlke from Oakland, he who made 16 three-pointers in two games in the NCAA including the win over Kentucky, played at Hillsdale College in 2022-23.  The playing field has changed and a prospect can come from nearly anywhere even if not playing at Division 1.

While Bevin's Gwynn Park lost by six to Largo in the state championship on March 5, Largo won the tournament winning their other games by 45, 6, 22, 15 and 14.

Yesterday, seven #1 seeds went down before their conference finals.: Tennessee, Arizona, Utah St., Sam Houston, Norfolk St.., Quinnipiac and UC Irvine. although the first three are obviously in while the last four are out.

In all likelihood, Virginia will not make the tournament.   If they do not,. they have their great coach Tony Bennett to blame for sitting on his three fouls to give and allowing N.C. State a chance to hit the game tying three-pointer with 1.4 seconds to give..  Hopefully he is saving those three fouls for next year's tournament when he has a more deserving team.

Mayhem, I believe that if we somehow win the first two games, we play the 2-seed Loyola and not the 3 seed Dayton.

Lunardi has Richmond in and not as a "last four" because he has then as the automatic qualifier since they lead the conference.  No way we get three in and the only way we get two is if Dayton does not win.  I think that is a realistic possibility and would go so far as to predict Richmond wins the A-10 tournament.

Basketball at its basic level is a simple game, take easy shots and force your opponents to take hard shots or not get off shots at all..  I looked at the box scores for all conference games and for the 12 game losing streak in particular.  If my math is correct, opponents made exactly 100 turnovers in 12 games or 8.3 per game. Admittedly it is a lot to ask Bishop and Hutchinson to pressure the ball when both played 40 minutes but that has not been the case all year.  Yesterday La Salle made exactly three turnovers.  Unless and until we take opponents out of their comfort zone, we are going nowhere..   . .

Most of the preseason forecasts had us finishing between 9th and 13th.  The consistent rationale was that we had two stars and the next six players had little or no college experience. .  I think that a strong case can be made that five of the six new players have met or exceeded (Johnson and Buchanan) expectations. I have confidence that Schroeder will get there also.  The two players that thus far (to different degrees) have underperformed expectations are the two returnees. It may take time but we know what they can do.
Defense and turnovers have to improve but don't forget much of the worst  play came with long layoffs (Only three games between December 10 and December 30)

Agree with Yegor/Shawta, but for us old folks there was Pat Tallent and Keith Morris in the backcourt along with Haviland Harper and Clyde Burwell up front.   (Bob Shanta was also in that class).   The problem was that as Freshmen, they had to play on the Freshman team and could not play varsity.  The Freshman team went 17-1 splitting with Maryland for the only loss. This included a 100+ point victory margin over Kirkland Hall.  The Freshman team routinely routed the varsity in practice...

Yesterday, December 21 was not a good day for the A-10.  The conference went 4-4 straight up that included LaSalle's win over a Division 2 team.  Against the spread on the other seven games, the A-10 was 0-7 with GW, Richmond and Davidson not coming close to covering in home games.   In addition, Fordham and Rhode Island lost at home as favorites.   St.Joe put in a good effort but Charleston covered the 2.5 spread in the only true road game for the conference.  UMASS lost to Ga. Tech in Hawaii as a 2.5 favorite..
