Pro tip: do not bother searching “George Washington” on twitter right now with hopes you’ll find the commit tweet. Not gonna find anything basketball related unfortunately.

These ranking systems in the month of November are just garbage. Not only does the A10 get squeezed for the usual reasons... practically impossible to get home games against quality opponents, hard to get games against anyone anywhere (which is why you see so few Q1 opportunities), and failure to make up ground during conference season (because as a Q2 or Q3 team, you're playing against mostly Q3 and Q4 teams, with a few Q2 opponents), you also have the starting point for each team which again is largely contingent upon where a team finished last year as opposed to an honest albeit subjective assessment of what a team looks like this year. Let's look at the NET where 6-1 GW is #211, the 12th best team in the A10. Am not suggesting that we should have a double digit ranking given our opposition but 211 does strike me as egregiously high. At least we're not dead last in the conference, that would be 3-3 Loyola who presently sits at #269. Despite the fact that most analysts feel they are much improved this season, that #269 is as much an indictment of how they played last year as it is how they've played over their first 6 games.
…
Our next opponent, undefeated South Carolina (who plays Notre Dame tonight)? They are at #235. If my memory is correct, not a very good team last year. Quite a bit better so far this season. At least they'll be playing some Q1 games. We don't get this luxury.
Back in the A10, SLU is third at #97. Fordham sits 4th at #132.
Richmond is #79 in KenPom? They'll have to settle for #160 for now in the NET.
Our next home game against winless Navy? They are #172 in the NET. (Navy has lost at home to Temple and on the road at Campbell, San Diego, and at UC San Diego. For this, they are 39 spots higher than 6-1 GW.)
Yes, even 1-5 Siena at #206, is more highly regarded than GW right now, according to the NET.
Not that any computer ranking should have much significance to GW this season (with respect

If you need a nickname for the new nickname, then the wrong nickname was picked (still think this was best option of the bad options we were given but still).

By my count, we now have 11 players under scholarship for 2023-2024, with 3 more non-scholarship players (Luke Cronin, Amir Arrington and Laziz Talipov). That leaves 2 scholarships unused. Do you think we are done now for the upcoming season or are we still looking to add on? An established big would sure hit the spot, if any are still unsigned.
12 players under scholarship
Bishop
Edwards
Harvey
Jones
Hutchinson
Autry
Schroder
Akingbola
Weluche-ume
Buchanan
Johnson

Not that this means anything but the only SEC post that I found caputo is following on social media is Babatunde Akingbola from Auburn (originally from Nigeria).

Didn’t see Christian Jones listed on the roster either
Hopefully, he's still coming, especially after this recent feat versus Bronny James' Sierra Canyon team. And BTW, Lebron was in attendance when Jones' dagger sealed the win for Bishop Montgomery.
Wrong Christian Jones. We offered this one but he isn’t the one who signed with GW.

Anthony Walker from Miami entered portal today. Similar to Matt Moyer imo. Horrendous offensive player but plays good D. Wouldn’t be surprised if he reunites with Caputo for final year of eligibility.

I would also say there's a certain HC in Boca that may have leapfrogged CC on the Miami wish list.
Dusty May has zero connection to Miami. Whoever succeeds Larranaga will almost certainly be someone he is connected to. If CC is the one to eventually take over at Miami, it is almost assured that CC did good work here.

No GW players on the PG, SG, or SF lists while the C list is not out yet.

I wouldn’t call myself the most active poster on this site (or the old one) but I am Someone who checks the site daily. The ML/PN saga is what I think has turned a lot of people away. That created such high levels of toxicity where it often was uncomfortable to read through. So many threads that were started with good intention were ruined by those two names being mentioned. Ultimately I believe a good number of people gave up on the site because of that.
On top of that, both the men’s and women’s basketball teams have been absolute dogshit for the last few years. These are the two teams that draw people to the site. The struggles the Mens team has gone through since the NIT championship have been well documented on here and won’t dive to deep into it. But the reality is the better the team is, the more people will be involved here. Improvement on the court leads to better recruits, and seeing us in competition with big name schools for players will bring lots of interest to the site. GWRising has been excellent at providing us inside info on recruiting (which I am and hopefully others here are incredibly grateful for) but the day where we regularly see GW being mentioned on Twitter for major recruiting battles will really spark interest in the site as well. Obviously Brayon left but the excitement of us being in competition with top programs for a top 150 recruit was truly awesome and when he committed, it felt like a major accomplishment as a program. Coach Caputo will get us there. I have no doubt. While I eventually see him leaving to replace Coach L at miami, his impact has already been and will be tremendous. Win on the court and be in the major recruiting battles and people will return.
On the women’s side, we were blessed to have JJ for three seasons that gave us a false sense of our place in WCBB. We’ve had success since she left for the WNBA but not anywhere remotely as close to those teams and Rizzotti is a major reason for that. I was fai

I know from twitter he’s a Nuggets fan so funny to see his homerism for the Nuggets come out.

As an easy point of comparison (thanks to CC), I can point to what sparked the University of Miami to begin investing more money into athletics. If anyone hasn’t seen the clip, Kirk Herbstreit called out the UM administration regarding athletics (based on an article written by the Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson, who is excellent). Obviously GW will never get called out by someone on college gameday, but the idea kinda stands where there needs to be some sort of public callout by an influential media member that singles out the administration in an embarrassing manner. We are not the university of Miami in terms of athletics and never will be, but to an extent I believe something along those lines must happen for GW to begin taking athletics serious again.

I really want to see Bishop and Lindo together. I know both will be entering their third season together, but both DO NOT play well off each other. In year one JNJ was a much better facilitator to Lindo than Bishop ever was. And in year two it was the same with Freeman and Lindo.
JNJ and Ricky did not play in any games together

Haven't really seen this mentioned (and totally spitballing here), but I wonder if Caputo would be able to bring any current Canes over with him. The one that jumps out to me is Deng Gak - former 4 star recruit who hasn't been able to get on the court much but would probably give us a boost on the interior if he can stay healthy. Not sure if anyone here's seen him play, but it does appear that he has an extra year.
I have watched a ton of canes basketball and I can promise you we are better off without Deng Gak. If anyone has complained about our bigs being nonexistent offensively before, they will have the same complaints about Gak

Lykes graduated from Miami and only is playing at Arkansas because of the extra year. Timberlake was hurt early on last year and it just never worked out for him Miami (and frankly not at Memphis either).
