Less efficient in the second game (was 1-6 to start), but still the high scorer in a comeback win against Team Durant.

Brayon had a great weekend last week showcasing his ability to play tight defense, distribute the ball, and score at all three levels. He shot especially well from three which is really nice to see. Glad he is proving me wrong there. He plays with great pace, always looking to push the pace and get out in transition off a miss. Wonder if that will be a stylistic shift we will see from the team in a year or so after we tended to slow things down a bit once the ball reached half court. Apart from Jalen Warley (Florida State commit) I think Brayon has been the standout in the 17U group. Certainly impressive considering this is probably his first game action since Huntington Prep finished their season. Hope he keeps it up this weekend!

Am not sure this has been mentioned but JC offered Brayon a scholarship to Mt. St. Mary's while Brayon was in the 8th grade.
Brayon was asked his three top goals once he starts playing for GW:
1) Freshman year: Top 3 school in the conference
2) Reach the Sweet 16 at the Dance
3) Become the school's alltime leading scorer (I guess he might be a shoot-first point guard based on that response)
I really love that he's been quarterbacking very high level teams throughout high school and AAU. If we think back to the Core 4, I think there was a noticeable difference in guys like Pato and KevLar who came from the nation's top programs being ready to contribute from Day 1, compared with Joe and Kethan who were great players but who needed time to acclimate to a vastly higher level of play. Am not suggesting that Brayon will not make mistakes as pretty much all freshmen point guards do. Nevertheless, I see him as someone who will feel he belongs from Day 1.

Box scores from Saturday (1 and 2) and Sunday (3). Brayon definitely focused more on being a passer this weekend. Had 10 assists in game 1, and 5 in each of the others. Didn't need to play a whole lot in the Saturday morning contest as New World blew out Prospect U in the first game. Turnovers were a bit high at times, but hard to put too much stock in that during this setting I'd assume. I don't know that his 17U New World team has ever lost in the tournament, but they forfeited the first week with some guys out sick.

A really talented and skilled guard, Brayon Freeman has a good shooting stroke and a good understanding of how to create space off the dribble.

National Christian Academy- The excellent backcourt tandem of George Washington commit 6'1" Brayon Freeman and 6'1" Ahmad Harrison (City College HS-Baltimore) played well despite their loss to TPS. Each of them scoring, defending and dishing the basketball with precision.

Freeman led his NCA squad with 21 in a losing effort against a strong SFA team, 101-86. Former GW target and Maryland commit Julian Reese had a monster game with 40 points, 22 rebounds, and 10 blocks for SFA.
Brayon's three point stroke is looking better and better every game, and his ability to create space between himself and his defender when shooting will be a nice addition to JC's system. I am of the belief he can play a decent number of minutes right off the bat (especially with his knack of generating pressure along the perimeter defensively), even with some expected freshman mistakes along the way.

Seems like every time I see @GW_MBB signee Brayon Freeman he improves. Elite scoring guard who has made strides on the defensive end and continues to be a vocal presence. He's starting to use his gravity to create for others.

Scored 31 a couple nights ago in a NCA win against Angelo Brizzi and Highland School (VA), including a pair of free throws to ice it. Brizzi is a Villanova commit/former GW target. Highlights below. Brayon is #2 in red.
He also knocked down the game winning three against Rocktop a couple weeks back. Full game below

I just watched the first half of the game that is linked above. Very interesting. Freeman had 16 or 17 first half points. The opposing team stayed in a zone most (if not all) of the first half, resulting in Freeman having many open looks. Although he started out at the wing, he quickly moved to point. Although not shy about shooting, he looks like he can pass a little also. Showed some penetration and dish. He is not a rebounder. Hard to assess his defense from what I saw. If you have a few minutes to kill, you should give it a watch. I have to run out now to get the long suffering girlfriend a Valentines Day card (and maybe one of those $7.99 boxes of chocolates that they sell at Giant), but I will probably catch the second half later. (I know you were all anxious to know my plans for today).
