Always a dozen fake names around MailvanMVMayhem. He antagonizes someone, and out they come. Same old story. Been going on a long time Barry, We ever going to enforce a 1 man, 1 name rule?
As to the prior 5 years, too many Goss Miguels Marfos Griffins Cimino and Swanns in the recruiting well were sinking the program one way or the other.
As to the next 5 years, JC turns this thing around, and will be hounded by Power 5 offers, which will be our biggest concern in time.
Unlike the guy you also cried about who you wanted fired for HIS first two years Mailvan, will not spend his post GW days a local gym attendant. You'll have to find a new name then I guess Mailvan. Speaking of moments in time, recall when it was revealed you were both the Mailvan and your exact oppposite, both of which acompanied by phony attack dog names then too, by the Board Admin? the few people left on the board recall it. Good ol' MailVanHem, same ol' tricks
Barry, make it stop, please ... I beg of you.

I would recommend someone restarts this as a new thread for 2021-22 recruiting, if they desire. Will we have any new recruits before the 21-22 school year begins? Doubtful, I'm guessing. I'll close this thread if there's nothing substantive on it soon.

How many spots left,if any?
Sure hope Gapare are lives up to his commitment.

Steven Adams in the Smith Center with the players today (On Instagram stories). Maybe a good sign considering Gapare is close to him and a recipient of the Steven Adams scholarship .
Admittedly, I did not recognize the name Steve Adams so I looked him up and learned that he is an active New Orleans Pelican who is from New Zealand, causing me to wonder what he would be doing at the Smith Center with our players. I am unaware of his having any GW connection, and Washington DC is kinda far from New Orleans and even further from New Zealand, so he probably wasn't just in the neighborhood and decided to drop in in to watch some college kids workout. Which got me to thinking...once upon a time, the players could not practice as a team with coaches/staff present until October 15th (resulting in the birth of Midnight Madness). The basketball team would report to campus at the same time as the rest of the student body (sometime in mid to late August) In fact, coaches were not even allowed in the gym during Kenner League if there were team members participating. Over the past few years, we see and hear about organized team workouts/practices well prior to October 15th. What are the present day rules for allowing a team practice?

I thought Gaspare wasn't coming until the second semester. Am I misunderstanding something?

LSF, the NCAA now distinguishes between sessions considered workouts, conditioning, etc. and organized team practices. This would seemingly be a hard thing to police against but my understanding is that teams are allowed (prior to the start of organized practices) to work with players on an individual basis on matters ranging from developing skills to endurance. If a three-on-three game were to break out, coaches can stay and watch (and are technically not supposed to do any coaching but...come on). Because Kenner is an NCAA recognized event, I am pretty sure that college head coaches are not allowed to watch their own players.
So the general answer is that coaching staffs can work with their players prior to the official start of practice. But, full-blown practices involving all team members are forbidden during this period.
I'll just add that Steven Adams appearing at the Smith Center is a great development, particularly in light of some of the more recent rumors involving Gapare.

He’s coming in December but will not play until the next season.

Does Steven Adams have any other connection to GW besides Gaspare? The fact that he's hanging around the team before Gaspare even arrives makes me think he could be close to someone else on the team or university. S.Adams has been a great rebounder/post presence in the NBA for many years now, having an established NBA veteran around the team is huge.

Both he and GW have shoe deals with Adidas. But I am "sure" that is just a "coincidence"...

So...... are we going to fill the last scholarship slot or not? Been crickets on that front recently. Two months (i think) until school starts.

Unless something crazy happens the answer is we will likely pocket that scholarship for future use.

Let's call it what it actually is. JC did not get any of the players he wanted. That's fine. But it's not like the strategy was "we'll go in with fewer players this year." The strategy was "let's find good players," and they couldn't find a good player to take the spot. Let's at least be intellectually honest about it.

Yes let's call it what it actually is. With transfers and the fact you cannot play 13 guys, no need to use a scholarship when even if you got a quality player you are only creating next year's transfer. It would have to be an exceptional player - like a lock starter who would be head and shoulders better than what you have. Funny how you know so much but actually so little. That's intellectual honesty lol.

GW was recruiting guys about a month ago. Don’t spin this as though they never wanted to fill the spot for strategic reasons I. The future

Yes, we added Quanzi Samuels within the last month and had another kid who could not be admitted. No spin necessary. That was it. So the spot remains open and they will likely hold it open unless someone who is surefire starter and game changer becomes available. Smart on JC's part to hold it rather than take next year's transfer.

How could I be?Im only a person.I didn’t win the blue ribbon every day even though I did my best.
You have so much to offer the Board-and I really appreciate all the info you share-but this constant
idealization of JC diminishes your credibility.Has he done anything up to now you might take issue with?
even a little bit?
