Didn't like the demeaning reference to the "peanut gallery".  We are rightfully disgruntled fans who still support the team with our presence and our money, even though for many (most) of us, this is becoming harder and harder to do.    Yes, the dunk was very impressive, but I saw it as the proverbial rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.   It did nothing to solve the problem   The only thing the dunk may have done is gotten GW on ESPN in a non-embarassing way.  
 As for Sinatra,  "I did it my way"?

LSF, this post does not make much sense to me.  When did this discussion become a referendum on whether one prefers to see exciting dunks or fundamentally sound basketball?  Are you really turning this into an either/or question?  Similarly, do you wonder whether any follower of this program is pleased with the season to date because Joe made SportsCenter's Top 10 twice?

I can't help but think that you are reading way more into this than you should.  I'll speak for myself when I say that I would trade those two dunks for a fundamentally sound 10-2 team every day of the week.  Am not really sure who wouldn't?

The original discussion had far more to do with whether the 360 dunk against Radford was poor form, inappropriate, etc., and there's no need to rehash this discussion.  Turning the discussion into whether we as fans are happier this way, as opposed to supporting a more successful team that is fundamentally sound, strikes me as a straw man's argument.  Because I so don't associate you with this tactic, it makes me wonder whether I am missing something here? 

You are correct Mayhem-two different discussions.I can’t speak for LSF,obviously,but I think that “changing the chairs on the deck of the Titanic” certainly resonated with me.Since this is a Basketball forum any topic
connected to that subject is appropriate including “best dunkers”.Speaking for myself the whole subject of 
“best dunkers” seems wildly off our teams current issues.So—-the “dunkers thread” though appropriate 
can’t help but remind me of how far we have fallen over the past 5 or 6 years.But yes-let’s keep our 
discussion to dunking-and I’ll try to maintain my civility.
 

OK  Lighten up everyone.   I am more concerned  in what I see is a bit of a down tick in the pep band.    Somehow this did spiral a bit out of control.   Seasons Greetings to all, even you know who.   I will lease with a simple "in your heart, you know I'm right".   (I know fellow history major Poog would get the reference...who else?)

Correct on Goldwater, GW 69, however I am struggling to remember the daisy commercial.

Believe it was a Johnson commercial. Apparently only aired once but had an everlasting effect.

It was indeed a 1964 Johnson advert that, like the "Checkers Speech", aired only once but had such a huge impact on the electorate that a PoliCom class I took spent over a month studying the two as transformative moments in the rise of television as the dominant mean of political campaigning.
