I'd add though that Jair, in contrast to Darnell, is at an SEC school, and playing solid minutes for that SEC school, and unlike what I saw from Darnell last night, Jair has looked good so far this year.

Don't disagree at all. I never had any hate for Jair, and am very happy he is getting the coaching he wants that will put him in a successful position. I never doubted his talent, but it was clear that he needed some instructing.

Agreed, Jair looked good dating all the way back to HS, I liked that we had a nice sized Guard who was playing alongside NBA lottery picks. On the downside, his defensive effort as a Soph was the worst I've ever seen in a GW uniform, which I'd say goes far beyond instruction.
The failing there was allowing it go on, they tried to coax some effort, he was benched a few times, but nothing seemed to work.
Watching a GW player on court with that little effort was far worse to watch than seeing lesser talented players struggle to Guard or score etc, at least in my view.
I am glad to see him doing well at South Carolina though, I like to see all former GW players thrive, and Jair wasn't happy for whatever reason. We've had too many in recent years, for whatever reason, TNJr last year, PJ, Kethan, Lasan, etc. there's been some concern expressed it is happening already this year but absent better information I'd hesitate to opine.

South Carolina lost at home to Boston U?? I didn't see any of this game, but I saw a couple of their earlier games and the announcers mentioned that a big reason South Carolina missed the NCAA tournament last year(they went 11-7 in the SEC) was because of how poorly they did in the OOC. I guess nothing has changed.
St.Joe's vs. Florida ESPNU - the game just tipped off, it's part of a tournament. Hopefully St.Joe's can pick up a few wins, if they don't win it.
Duquesne vs. Indiana State 6:30
#18 Xavier vs. Towson 7 on ESPNU - this is part of the same tournament St.Joe's is in
#22 Texas vs Georgetown 7 on ESPN2 - this game will be played at Madison Square Garden. Texas is ranked now? Has Shaka Smart turned things around?

South Carolina indeed lost to Boston U. BU! not a good OOC loss.
So far Shaka has badly underwhelmed, I'd reserve judgment on that ranking, reminds me of when Notre Dame football is bad and yet gets ranked every Sept!
Offline
Thomas South Carolina performed poorly during last season's OOC? I guess jumping out to leads of 18-0 and 49-8 against us before winning 90-55 isn't factoring much into that assessment.
Texas does have a nice early season win at Purdue this year. A win over Georgetown will likely result in a match-up with Duke tomorrow night.

St Joe's hung in nicely with Florida tonight, 70-62

G'town and Patrick Ewing blow out Shaka and Texas in the 2nd half. 82-66.
Rick Barnes got canned for not winning enough NCAA tourney games, Texas may well regret that decision, Shaka has won none at Texas. VCU rolls on in the meantime.
He's under water each of the last 2 years in Big12 and well below .500 through 4 years:74–67 (.522)31–41 (.431)

GW Mayhem, South Carolina clearly put all their efforts into pounding GW, they were so worn out after that win, they couldn't get back on track until the midway portion of their SEC conference schedule!!! HA!
The Dude, Shaka Smart's tenure at Texas is interesting, you pointed out his won-loss record, but the announcers mentioned he has produced 3 or 4 lottery picks(Jaxson Hayes, Jarrett Allen, Mohammad Bamba and I believe Myles Turner) in his time there. They had another big man starting last night who looks to have NBA potential
Georgetown scored 10-15 straight points early in the 2nd half and basically put Texas away. I thought Texas was going to win because they looked to have slightly more talent overall, but Georgetown's post players ended up being too long and athletic for Texas. I saw part of St.Joe's-Florida, and St.Joe's will probably be the team that is way better than what was projected for them. St.Joe's guard Ryan Daly may be the best example of "looks can be deceiving" when you watch him play!! LOL Another A10 team gets the chance to knock off Maryland tonight.
Missouri State vs. St.Joe's 2:30 on ESPNU - Consolation round game of the Charleston Classic
Fordham vs. Nevada 3:15 - This is part of a tournament
Rhode Island vs North Texas 4:30 CBS SportsNetwork - This looks to be a tournament game in Jamaica
Duquesne vs Air Force 6:30
George Mason at #6 Maryland 7 Big 10 Network - Mason is actually undefeated at 4-0, but they haven't played anyone. George Mason's Justin Kier hasn't played at all this year due to an injury, he was their leading scorer last year
Wake Forest vs. Davidson 7:30 ESPN+
#1 Duke vs Georgetown 7 on ESPN - Championship game of the Empire Classic at MSG

Flipped on Villanova vs Miss St. Hardly Jay Wright's best team but man, what a job he's done, year after year, they look good again this year.
Thomas, Shaka though has got to be seen 4+ years in as a huge dissappointment, the best team they had was his first year, things have mostly gone south since, He has as you noted recruited some big time 1 and done talent, but it hasn't translated into the type of success you'd expect at Texas.
Rick Barnes has been doing FAR better at Tennessee!
at Texas he was highly successful but the # of NCAA wins dried up at the end. Well, Shaka has none so far. Barnes at Texas:402–180 (.691)186–94 (.664) He also did great work at Mason, Clemson, Providence, one helluva career for Rick Barnes.

G'town has stormed out to a 12-5 lead vs Duke in the Garden.
Took down Texas last night

Meanwhile we can't even keep up with University of Missouri - Kansas City from the WAC.

Utah St looks legit!

UMASS played UVA pretty tough today.
As things stand the A10 has 6 of the top 100 KenPom

UMKC just beat East Carolina 74-68, the exact same score against us. Definitely didn't expect them to be playing Liberty for 1st (though the Flames were clearly the best team in the tournament imo). Bizarre tournament but college basketball in a nutshell.

Who needs Maui! we're in the Bahamian Ballroom!
What a sport though, that Evansville can go into Kentucky and win in Rupp or UMBC beat UVA in a NCAA tourney game, college football pales in comparison
(or regular season NBA)

I saw a lot of the UMass-Virginia game, and they have a star freshman post player in Tre Mitchell, he turned down BCS offers to attend UMass. He was giving UVA problems in the 1st half. Virginia turned up the defensive pressure in the 2nd half like they always do. The announcers mentioned that 3 of UMass' freshman(including Tre Mitchell) all played for the same high school last year, and their coach is now an assistant at UMass. That assistant got hired after the 3 players signed their LOI's, I guess it was done that way to make it look less suspicious!!
How funny would it be if Evansville goes 0-3 in this tournament after they just beat #1 Kentucky?? I thought Evansville would win this tournament with ease after they won at Rupp Arena.
LSU vs Rhode Island 2:30 on CBS SportsNetwork - this is part of a tournament, but I'm not sure how these teams are playing each other because LSU lost to Utah State in the 1st round, while Rhode Island won their first 2 games. Did the organizers just want the 2 big-name schools playing in the championship?
UMass vs. St.John's 3:30 ESPN2 - this is the consolation game of 4-team tournament.
St.Joe's vs Towson 6 ESPNU - St.Joe's will look to avoid going 0-3 in this tournament. They lost 2 competitive games to Florida and Missouri State
Offline
Towson (2-4) up on St. Joes 35-22 late in first half. Not sure what says about A-10.
Offline
Darnell had 7 made threes in UMBC's 10 point loss to mid-major force Nicholls State (and I'm not being sarcastic - the Colonels have been legitimately pretty good).
Quinnipiac fell to Sacred Heart by 17, but Kevin posted 15 points and 14 rebounds in 29 minutes. He ranks 3rd nationally in rebounding.
Offline
Who remembers Collin Goss?
In double figures for the 6-0 Delaware Blue Hens two games in a row now. He was also their leading rebounder in three of their six games.
Yes, even Collin Goss has had success after leaving GW. LOL.
