Jonquel Jones at the World Cup
Today FIBA had the draw for the World Cup 2022 in Sydney (that is in Australia, by the way). Jonquel Jones and her Bosnia-Herzegovina team have been grouped with the run away favourites USA. Their first game is Sept 22 against whatever team replaces Russia, which has been barred from the competition due to events it set in motion last week. The game vs the USA is on Sept 27. France, Serbia and the hosts are all in the other group.

JJ has been playing in the EuroLeague for UMMC Ekaterinburg, a Russian-based team. She led her team to an undefeated season and was ready start the playoffs next week before FIBA decided to disqualify the Russian teams (which was a good thing). She managed to get out of Russia yesterday, and she's safe in Turkey.
It's been rough for her, but I'm sure she'll be happy to get home.
