James becomes GW's first frontcourt addition, though he's probably more of a 4 than a 5 based on his height. Like Witherspoon, he was recruited by GW out of HS so I'm sure the previous familiarity helped. The Florida native was fairly impactful defensively, with a +1.7 DBPR on EvanMiya, which ranked fourth on the Bulldogs. That includes a 4% block rate and 2.5% steal rate. The offense however was a bit rough, as James was the only player in the primary rotation to rate negatively on that side of the ball. Part of that was driven by an abymsal year from three point range (1/17 - not high volume, but still). He was a lot more efficient on low volume from deep in his first two years, so perhaps that's just an anomaly. Hopefully, it's not a Luke situation where we get nervous whenever he shoots a 3. To his credit, James has improved his FT shooting every year of college, just like Arceneaux so perhaps there's still some upside on offense. Rebounding should also be a strength, as he led UGA in DR% last year and was also above average on the offensive glass as well.

Looking forward to seeing Dylan in Buff and Blue!

James becomes GW's fourth high-major down transfer this offseason. CC definitely seems to be going for down transfers, and honestly I don't hate it. After last year, it's a good thing that he's trying something else.

Another good signing, was a top 100 recruit out of high school and will hopefully excel in the A10. https://georgiadogs.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/dylan-james/9833
