Jacoi looked like a 4 year floor general type player. Maybe not the highest ceiling (in a game full of high ceiling talent) but a very high floor.
Dana Altman's has had a great 30+ year career and gradually built up Oregon not a big surprise. Surely NIKE resources has also helped (football too)
15 NCAA tourney wins in the last 9 held NCAA tourneys
Had a great run at Creighton for 14 years, dude has over 700 wins. Just gets no ink being out West.

Nike $$$? Yes, that makes sense.
Dana Altman's pedigree? Makes far less sense. He's had a perfectly fine career but how many Top 10 players has he ever landed? Plenty of programs I'd put in front of Oregon if we're basing this on some form of ability to commensurate program success scale.
But yes, there is that Nike $$. Makes perfect sense.

I personally think Altman recruits just fine. Just doesn't coach that well. Also can't stop injuries from happening.

A Final 4, An Elite 8, 5 Sweet 16 trips since 2013. Pretty darn good for Altman at Oregon.
Oregon had not been to a Final 4 since the first ever NCAA tourney in the 1930s

Just let me know how many Top 10 guys he has successfully recruited throughout his career, because THAT is the only point I am making.

Highlights from IMG's OT loss at St. John's College HS last night. Jacoi (#4 in Blue) had 16 points. We have an offer out to #1 from SJCHS, Daquan Davis (18 points).

2023 G Jacoi Hutchinson had an efficient 16 Pts (8-12 FG) & 5 Ast.
The George Washington commit is an ultra-quick athlete whose a productive two-way guard. An instinctive on-ball defender & explosive playmaker.

Just finished watching the game. Jacoi looked outstanding. Played tough on D and caused a few turnovers; very poised controlling the ball on O making really good passes. Took it to the basket really strong and should have no problems handling the physicality of the A10. One of the announcers said he's a "serious" player and I couldn't agree more. Like Joe McDonald, Jacoi will be a floor general for us from Day 1.
If there's one area of improvement, I'd say it's his 3-point shot technique. It's a little slow and he doesn't really jump, but realistically I don't think he's going to be asked to take more than 1-2 3's per game. He's not going to be a PG that takes step back 3's off the dribble like Bishop or Adams this year.

I would like to add that playing IMG's schedule is very much like playing in a college environment in term of talent level and travel. This will better prepare him to play from day one than a traditional HS recruit. His opponents and teammates are loaded with high major D1 recruits. I'll add that this is also true with Christian Jones who plays in the Overtime Elite league that has a high level of talent including post grad players who will be in the upcoming NBA draft. I think this is a huge plus in terms of them being able to produce right away.

The announcers were singing his praises non-stop for a while. Apparently he asks for his teammates phones on game-nights. Huge task as you'd know if you have a teenager.
