I am not so sure Washington in August is a good selling point for the school (The again Mason and AU have the same issue)...

"I will be announcing my commitment on Friday, September 8th, 2023! Stay Tuned!!"

Taking that to be a good sign. He's only visited Mason and GW officially from the final list of schools so far. The fact that he set his commitment date to be right after when he was supposed to visit Iona suggests that they are out of the picture. Generally the school with the most recent official visit wins out.

Not sure there is any evidence for your last statement. I've seen it cut both ways enough where that doesn't hold water even modified by generally.

Looking forward to Friday's announcement. Would be great getting a local 3 star combo guard (stars don't matter!)

Maybe I should have said "many times" instead of "generally". It definitely goes both ways - a player may choose to weigh all/some of their options and there's no guarantee that a school that is the most recently visited is the destination spot but there's a reason coaches try to close the deal on a player's official visit before they visit the next school and there's a battle to not be a school towards the end of a player's official visit list because once a player likes what they see they cancel other visits. Maybe it's just being reported more, but somehow canceling visits didn't feel like a thing that happened very often before a few years ago.
I'd be interested to see a recruiting insider do an analysis on the percent prospects picking the last school they visit and the percent of prospects that cancel visits. Somehow I feel like mid and low major kids visit all the schools they are considering (for players that take more than one official) more often than high major kids but that's just an impression.
Anyways, in the case of Bevins the fact he set a commitment date before visiting Iona and on top of that selected a date right after that planned visit definitely suggests they are no longer in the hunt. One of Mason's assistants is a Gwynn Park alum, but I still like our odds overall.

Got my ear to the ground and I think we will get good news on Friday but not 100% sure yet. Working my sources.

Good news coming this afternoon. Florida, I've seen him play some but not a ton. I like him. Can score the ball and decent defender. Good size for a Guard. Only question is competition he faced in HS but I think he answered that in AAU.
