This year's Kenner League will be taking place at Burr Gymnasium on the campus of Howard University. No word yet as to why the move from McDonough. Opening day is on July 6.

I think the switch from McDonough is because there's some renovations going on there
Online!
Not cramming into a tiny gym to see 19 year olds play half hearted pick up games, in the dead of the DC 100 degree days summer is also an option
Options: see a movie with AC. Go travel somewhere cold. Take a walk in the woods. Go to a nice cold Happy Hour where they have good AC. Or literally anything else. Read a book, click on a link to donate $ to GW Sports

This post is about as coherent as what I'm imagining Trump's debate prep to sound like.

Probably could be said about both Trump and Biden. If I was Trump, I would head to a nursing home to debate dementia patients to prepare for Joe. If I was Biden, I would bring in a few Mob bosses to prepare for Trump. We are so screwed. The best America has to offer lol.

We're still thinking that Biden is equally as bad an alternative as Trump??? Save it...I am not even going to try.

Suggest you look at the polls and see what they tell you lol...that a criminally convicted candidate is dead even in the polls tells you exactly how bad the alternative is. Any other Republican would lead Biden in the polls by a decent margin. If your rationale is Biden is even a remotely attractive candidate, even most Democrats acknowledge that ship sailed long ago. The question is do you want cancer or a heart attack??? ... both will kill you. Just a question of preferences as to how to die. Not sure one is more noble than the other as you are just as dead.

The polls say nothing to me with respect to who the better alternative is. They say plenty with respect to the abject stupidity of this country. Not suggesting that there aren't stronger candidates than Joe. That said, I'll add that the Biden Administration has accomplished a tremendous amount without ever tooting their horn (which is, IMO, a big part of their problem).
On the other side, you may have the worst American con artist in history. A morally bankrupt human being. Don't wish to get personal Rising but 8 years later, anyone who proudly supports this criminal or even prefers that he possess the power to run this country should have their own moral compass evaluated. I realize your point was that Biden is not a good alternative but if you revisit my original comment, it wasn't that Biden is a great candidate but that he is so superior to Trump. I'll stand by that thought all day long.

Thank you, GWmayhem. Smart and thoughtful post. Makes too much sense. GWRising should stick with basketball.

I am all in favour of keeping this site politics-free (though I recognize how impossible that is for anything to do with GW, and I say that in a positive sense).
As for Kenner, I wonder if it can retain the relaxed/accesible ambiance at Howard´s gym, even it is does spare us the indignity of having to venture into the heart of the Evil Empire to see games.

Agree with keeping politics off of this site. Looking forward to the Kenner League as my college basketball fix for summer. Hope athletic department provides us some insight as to who will be playing, as they did last year.

Kenner is scheduled to start tomorrow but I'd say this is dubious at best.
1) The website indicated the Howard University address only there apparently is no agreement yet to play there.
2) The issue appears to be money with Kenner arguing that HU wants a lot and the cost of player insurance is rising.
3) While I'm not saying that there aren't any renovations keeping Kenner away from McDonough, it appears that money has also been cited as to why the games will not be held in their home of roughly 50 years.
4) It is the day before the scheduled start and no schedules or rosters appear on the Kenner website, the GU websites, GWSports.com, or on X.
5) Am wondering what GW's participation level may have been without all of these question marks, and especially in light of Garrett's off-season injury.

I suggest putting Darren in bubble wrap till the season's start.
And maybe in between games during the season.
Online!
Maybe the whole idea has run its course. For the fans and the players
I have never cared the least bit about Kenner I dont under the fixation about pick up summer games
I do like GW basketball a lot but ... yikes, they are quasi pick up level summer games, the kids get some run in, who really cares about any of this TBH??
Whatever floats your boat though. Just IMO. For the players, just stay healthy is right.

I’m certain that CC has many connections with area pros and former college players who would be interested in summer scrimmages. Back in the day, Coach Tallent used to invite area stars, like Adrian Dantley, Austin Carr, and a boatload of DeMatha alums to scrimmage. Speaking of no AC, they would come to the Tin Tab and play for hours in the sweat box. It made my summer session in DC a dream come true.
Heck, maybe Pops can round up his buddies and come to Smitty. Just a few thoughts

Proving that a broken clock is right twice a day ... the Dude nails it! See Dude I will give you credit when credit is due.
Kenner is strictly to pass the summer days away. Generally, nothing good comes out of Kenner and often something bad like bad evaluations of players.and misguided predictions along with injuries. If you like entertainment and summer basketball great. Watch NBA summer league, TBT or Big 3. Before you know it the NFL will get going and of course there is always MLB.

Come on Rising, The Dude nailed nothing. He gave an opinion which you happen to agree with. Opinions are neither correct or incorrect (although they can be informed or misinformed). A few points about Kenner:
1) There was no evidence during last year's Kenner attendance that this is an idea that has passed fans by.
2) Despite what you've consistently said about Kenner, much of it correct incidentally, the appetite for Kenner news on this and our prior message board has always existed. Several including myself have provided GW player write-ups and the general reaction to these seemed to suggest that the majority of people appreciated the information.
3) I have consistently said that Kenner may not answer whether someone will be a genuine contributor for GW, but that it will almost always indicate who will not be able to contribute much.
4) Am not sure what is happening at other summer leagues for college players, but in the case of Kenner, I believe what's going on is entirely financial and has nothing to do with perceived interest. With NIL upon us, insurance premiums, which the league needs to take out on behalf of its participants, have skyrocketed. Since Kenner does not charge admission (I suppose they could but it remains to be seen whether they could cover costs by doing so), the only place to turn is to the venue, where it appears that McDonough and now Burr Gymnasium have not given the league the break it's been seeking.
5) It's not far fetched to think that NIL money could cause certain players not to participate, even with league insurance which my guess is would not come close to covering full NIL amounts. At the same time, it's not like NIL recipients are going to stop playing in summer pickup games, and they will certainly take part in team workouts (where they are likely covered for injury).

Per Finest Magazine, Kenner League will be held at Bowie State University July 19th-August 11th.

Thanks GW0509. Definitely going to need some assurance that our guys will be participating before making trips to Bowie.

Looks like Trey Autry (#0) and Jun Buchanan (#1) are suiting up for the DC Raiders. They have so far played on Friday and Saturday. I don't think official rosters have been posted yet as of now.
Their remaining regular season schedule:
7/21 vs. Jim Couch/Combinator DMV (1:00 PM)
7/27 vs. Spartans Basketball Club (4:45 PM)
8/2 vs. Panther Express (7:00 PM)
They are the team in white here:
