Re: Welcome Dayan Nessah!

Dayan played a major part in Switzerland's comeback in the 4th quarter. Started down by 16 and eventually cut it to 4 with a couple of minutes left. The Swiss had a hard time getting it done from deep (they did better in the 4th) which really hurt their chances.

Dayan ended with:
Points - 26 points (47% FG, 7/11 from two, 2/8 from range, 6/12 from FT)
Rebounds - 6 (including a key offensive board after a missed FT which led to another foul and cut the lead to 4 with a couple of minutes left)
Assists - 2
Steals - 5
TOs - 5

Though he struggled from range he did make some nice layups through contact and played some good defense (from what I saw). Based solely on this game he doens't take many mid-range shots (has anyone seen otherwise?). Hoping he can get those FT and 3-point numbers up (he had some good games in both categories in this tournament). Excited to see him play next season.

Re: Welcome Dayan Nessah!

Switzerland did not come to play to begin the game. It felt like every pass made in the halfcourt was too telegraphed (were they playing VCU during the havoc era or Bulgaria???) and no one on the team was in rhythm (including Dayan with his FTs in the first half - unfortunately those made a big difference in the end). The defense had holes larger than Swiss cheese and the team was crushed down low (partly a size thing). Great effort at the end but a little too much energy required to come back.

Still, pleased with how Dayan has played so far. Three point shooting seems a bit streaky and at times he gets a bit too cute with his passes but he has really good vision, seems to play pretty good defense, and most importantly has a winning mentality (it's amazing how many players don't play with winning as a primary objective and are more in it for their own stats).

Any Francophones in the house?

Dayan Nessah was on a French podcast today talking about his love of basketball and coming to GW.  Youtube provides some AI generated closed captioning in English, but it's not the easiest to follow along (click the gear icon, then choose subtitles/CC, then choose Auto-translate).

Re: Welcome Dayan Nessah!

Not to put any undue pressure on this young man,
but a great freshman year by him puts GWU in the top half of the conference
IMO

Re: Welcome Dayan Nessah!

Just one entity's opinion but this is nevertheless very encouraging to see.
Am also very intrigued by what we can expect out of Ty Bevins during his freshman season as well.

Re: Welcome Dayan Nessah!

As talented a recruit as we've had in quite some time, discounting transfers from Power 5s.  Just in terms of guys this age coming in from a High School age not transfering in from Va Tech or Maryland or Wake Forest  et al

Pumped to see him develop, he's a great talent
