The season is on the horizon, The 2 time defending champs, led by former Rhode Island Supernova Danny Hurley seek the 3peat in 2024/25.
Kansas and Alabama looked stacked, UCONN is ranked 1, 2 and 3 in polls, with a seeming plurality picking Kansas as the top team enterring the year
Loaded Gonzaga and Houston squads round out the top 5....
Maui, what a field led by back to back Champs UCONN. Dayton is in this field a chance for the A10 to score some big OOC wins against a very difficult field of Blue Bloods and assorted top programs.
Tournament chairman Dave Odom called it one of the strongest fields in the event's history.
The juggernaut tourney returns to Maui this year, after the tragic loss of 102 lives last year due to the massive wildfires on the island

A look at the top picks for the National Title in 2025. Does Hurley Dynasty Go BACK TO BACK TO BACK???
UCONN Bama Gonzaga and Kansas ...
UConn Huskies Back-to-back-to-back? Don't count out the Huskies, especially not after Dan Hurley rejected the Los Angeles Lakers to stay in Storrs days after Alex Karaban withdrew from the NBA draft to return to college. Karaban is the lone starter back for the reigning national champions, but he should combine with top-10 recruit Liam McNeeley and Saint Mary's transfer Aidan Mahaney to form one of the most dangerous shooting trios in the country. Hassan Diarra's performance at point guard -- and whether Solo Ball or Jaylin Stewart can emerge on the wing -- will be the key for UConn next season.
Projected starting lineup
Hassan Diarra (6.1 PPG)
Aidan Mahaney (13.9 PPG at Saint Mary's)
Liam McNeeley (No. 9 in ESPN 100)
Alex Karaban (13.3 PPG)
Samson Johnson (5.4 PPG)
Kansas JayhawksAfter entering 2023-24 ranked No. 1, Bill Self had his worst season in Lawrence. He evidently took that to heart, responding by building arguably the most loaded roster in the country. He went into the portal and landed AJ Storr (Wisconsin), Zeke Mayo (South Dakota State) and Rylan Griffen (Alabama). All-American big man Hunter Dickinson opted to return for another season. That's in addition to returning starters Dajuan Harris Jr. and K.J. Adams Jr., who are both looking for their second national title.
Projected starting lineup:Dajuan Harris Jr. (8.5 PPG last season)
Zeke Mayo (18.8 PPG at South Dakota State)
AJ Storr (16.8 PPG at Wisconsin)
K.J. Adams Jr. (12.6 PPG)
Hunter Dickinson (17.9 PPG) Alabama Crimson TideThe return of All-American guard Mark Sears and Jarin Stevenson's withdrawal from the NBA draft on deadline day put the Crimson Tide right there with Kansas in the No. 1 debate. Oats overhauled the rest of the roster, landing three potential starters from the portal: Aden Holloway (Auburn), Chris Youngblood (South Florida) and Clifford Omoruyi (Rutgers) -- although Youngblood is out until December with an ankle injury. But potential all-league forward Grant Nelson and part-time starter Latrell Wrightsell Jr. are also back from a team that reached the Final Four.Projected starting lineupMark Sears (21.5 PPG)
Aden Holloway (7.3 PPG at Auburn)
Latrell Wrightsell Jr. (8.9 PPG)
Grant Nelson (11.9 PPG)
Cliff Omoruyi (10.4 PPG at Rutgers)
Gonzaga Bulldogs Gonzaga played like a top-10 or top-15 team for the final two months of the 2023-24 season and has brought back everyone except Anton Watson.
Ryan Nembhard and Graham Ike form one of the best inside-outside duos in the country, and the Zags have also welcomed transfers Michael Ajayi (Pepperdine) and Khalif Battle (Arkansas) to add some perimeter pop on the wings. Former Eastern Washington transfer Steele Venters suffered a second straight season-ending injury, which is unfortunate, but Mark Few has the pieces to make up for his absence
.Projected starting lineup
Ryan Nembhard (12.6 PPG)
Nolan Hickman (14.0 PPG)
Michael Ajayi (17.2 PPG at Pepperdine)
Ben Gregg (9.0 PPG)
Graham Ike (16.5 PPG)
And #25 its the Rutgers staff by way of Foggy Bottom, DC :Rutgers will be one of the most fascinating teams in the country this season. The Scarlet Knights have the highest preseason expectations they've had in a long time (and maybe ever), a direct result of Steve Pikiell bringing in Airious Bailey and Dylan Harper, two of the top three recruits in the 2024 class and both projected top-five picks in the 2025 NBA draft. Pikiell also surrounded his two potential stars with veteran scorers. The return of Jeremiah Williams is a boost, along with four transfers -- Tyson Acuff (Eastern Michigan), Zach Martini (Princeton), Jordan Derkack (Merrimack) and PJ Hayes IV (San Diego) -- from the portal.Projected starting lineup
Dylan Harper (No. 4 in ESPN 100)
Jeremiah Williams (12.2 PPG)
Ace Bailey (No. 2 in ESPN 100)
Zach Martini (8.4 PPG at Princeton)
Emmanuel Ogbole (2.1 PPG)

Strange that every year (for probably at least the past 10 years or more) Mark Few's Gonzaga teams have been considered one of the four national title contenders but have never actually won a national title. Clearly, this is a hallmark trait for a coach to be considered "America's Greatest Coach."

While I have never been a fan of Hurley's on-court antics, am happy to give credit where it is due. What's far less publicized than his consecutive championships at UCONN are his willingness and bravery for openly speaking about his own mental health issues. He discusses his own panic attacks, suicidal thoughts, and overall depression on The Mental Game podcast with Brandon Saho. Am sure this will be very inspirational for those who may be similarly suffering. Definitely worth a listen.

Speaking of OOC's, Gonzaga plays:
UCONN the back to back champs, Kentucky, Arizona, Baylor, Arizona St, Indiana and Louisville
If GW had spent the last quarter of a century in March Madness like Mark Few has I would advocate for a harder OOC, but we're picked 13th in a 15 team A10 league
Amazing Gonzaga has convinced Kentucky and Baylor to play home and homes, but it did take 20+ years to get there. We need to just start winning in the A10, and that's going to take another year after this one at minimum.
Meanwhile Danny Hurley could have the Lakers job as Lebron's Coach, but instead he is staying on Storrs. 6 years ago he was the coach of Rhode Island, now he's turning down the Lakers and Lebron James

UCONN Kansas and Bama top 3...
Gonzaga received a first-place vote and is in sixth pre-season top 25
Rutgers is #25
Kansas was picked No. 1 in the Associated Press Top 25 preseason men's basketball poll Monday, getting the nod on half of the 60 ballots from a national media panel to start the season ahead of Alabama and two-time defending national champion Danny Hurley's UConn

Must be more to this story.... and its a big one, heckuva career if he's actually retiring
National Title, 16 NCAA Tourney wins, took Washington State to the Sweet 16, and even has the NCAA record for career three-point field goal percentage (49.7%)
Won 70% of his games in the ACC, quite an accomplishment as well: 189–82 (.697) ACC play.

another Enormous signing for former GW top assistant Pikiell and the rising Rutgers program
Top-50 forward Chris Nwuli announced his commitment to Rutgers on Sunday, giving the Scarlet Knights their first ESPN 100 prospect of the 2025 class.Steve Pikiell's program didn't get involved in Nwuli's recruitment until recently, extending a scholarship offer in late September after not being included on Nwuli's list of six finalist schools in August."I chose Rutgers because I love the way the coaching staff made me feel welcome, and the East Coast is where I want to be," Nwuli told ESPN. "I love the energy of the staff. Coach Pikiell breathes basketball, and he cares about his players. He is hard on his guys in practice and encourages them to be better players and people."A 6-foot-7 forward, Nwuli is ranked No. 41 in the ESPN 100 for the class of 2025.
Nwuli is one of the more explosive athletes in the senior class. He has quick-twitch ability to get off the ground with great burst and elevation, and his second jump is effective because it enables him to get easy points on putbacks or block shots at the other end. He's a lob threat, especially in transition, and he's versatile defensively with his lateral quickness and ability to cover ground.
And Bullis product, 7'0 Center the #2 center in the class signs with the BACK to BACK National Title winning Hurley's UCONN squad
Eric Reibe, the second-best center in the senior class, announced his commitment to UConn on Wednesday, giving Dan Hurley and the Huskies their second top-25 recruit in 2025.Reibe chose UConn over Kansas, Creighton, Indiana and Oregon. He visited all five schools over the past couple of months, while also hosting frequent visits from coaches in recent weeks -- including when Hurley and two assistant coaches stopped by Reibe's high school after visiting the White House in September. The Huskies' pitch won out: Come to Storrs and develop into an NBA player while also competing for a national championship.
"The player development stood out to me, especially with [Donovan] Clingan," Reibe told ESPN. "Sending six players to the league in two years and winning two national championships is very special. Coach Hurley's plan with me aligns perfectly and I have a great relationship with all the coaches and players. It was an indescribable feeling that told me UConn is home."A 7-footer from Bullis School (Maryland)
A Dynasty in Storrs under Danny Hurley who rejected the Lebron Lakers to stay in Connecticut:
Reibe joins top-20 guard Darius Adams (No. 19 in the ESPN 100) in the Huskies' 2025 class. The Huskies are also squarely in the mix for Braylon Mullins (No. 24), who is expected to announce his decision next week between UConn, Indiana and North Carolina.

Michigan landed the top International prospect today, big signing for The Wolverines
The academy is cranking out superb talent such as....
The NBA Academy program has become a hot spot for draft prospects in recent years, with the likes of Josh Giddey (No. 6 pick, 2021 NBA draft), Bennedict Mathurin (No. 6 pick, 2022), Dyson Daniels (No. 8 pick, 2022) and Olivier-Maxence Prosper going through the program, as well as projected top-10 pick Khaman Maluach, who is currently enrolled at Duke.

Hey Dude,
How about crediting the source when you post something you have copied from somewhere else. Much of your posts are just lifted word-for-word from other sites. Or you could link to them.

I did not know the history of Steve Pikiell and GWU Basketball
from Wikipedia
Pikiell joined fellow UConn alum Karl Hobbs as an assistant at George Washington from 2001–05, where he was part of the Colonials 2004 NIT and 2005 NCAA tournament squads.[4]

Hard to believe that Rutgers has 2 of the 3 best newcomers in the sport, (Cooper Flagg, Duke the other) but it happened, what a coup for Pikiell 2. Airious Bailey, G, Rutgers Scarlet Knights (freshman)An explosive athlete who will produce highlight-reel plays on a nightly basis, Bailey is going to push Flagg for the No. 1 pick next June. He's also one-half of the duo that has people so excited about Rutgers.'
3. Dylan Harper, G, Rutgers Scarlet Knights (freshman)The other half of the Rutgers star duo, Harper will run the show and have the ball in his hands constantly. He's a crafty scorer as well

Cooper Flagg looked every part the #1 overall pick last night for Duke.
What a show by Gonzaga
Medcalf: Gonzaga deserved more Final Four buzz entering the season. And Mark Few seems to have one of his deepest, most balanced teams in years.Ending the 2024-25 campaign as one of the most offensively efficient teams in America wouldn't be surprising. The Bulldogs have finished top-five in adjusted offensive efficiency on KenPom in six consecutive seasons. But Monday's numbers -- 144 points on 100 possessions, with seven players scoring at least nine points --- are ridiculous. The depth also feels different, given Few typically runs his team through one or two players. Arkansas transfer Khalif Battle strengthened a backcourt that fed off the paint production of Graham Ike and Braden Huff. Some of Monday night's win could have been about an opponent that's really not equipped to deal with this level of balance and experience. But the Bulldogs won by 38 points -- the largest win by a team over a top-10 opponent in a season opener ever -- and held a squad with NBA talent to 90 points per 100 possessions

Our old friend Maximus Edwards scored 2 points in Duquesne's home loss to Princeton. Max shot 0-10 from the field, with 1 assist but he did have 7 rebounds. I don't think anyone was suprised by his transferring from GW. But to Duquesne? I thought he had enough on his resume to get some looks from power conferences, but instead he made a lateral move.
