We already have one in theory. Hopefully, the folks across campus will understand that we can't compete if we follow their byzantine admissions rules for athletes.

Was it Dinkins to whom you were referring as already having in theory or someone else?

Someone else. PF.

Re: 2025 Portal Info

Very excited about Tre Dinkins.  He's improved his three point shooting percentage each year he's played in college.  When we played Duquesne, I was most concerned about containing Tre (while stupidly forgetting about Max in the process).  His value is epitomized in part by his efficiency.  Despite being an explosive player and Duquesne's leading scorer, Tre averaged 10.5 shot attempts last season.  By contrast, JB averaged about 7 more shot attempts per game during his junior season.  While I would not envision him coming off the bench, I'm not sure this matters either way since CC has demonstrated an ability to assign starter minutes, as well as play bench players down the stretch in close games, to players who do not start but who are very definitely in the rotation.  We can definitely use Tre's firepower making this a solid pickup.  Looking forward to watching Autry, Moss and Dinkins on the floor together and hearing some opponent scream "I got Trey."

Re: 2025 Portal Info

Sure seems like a solid pickup who has shown he can play well at the A-10 level.
Our analysts here like his stats, which show pretty good shooting.
And a player who has worked his way up from Canisius.
Also fits in well on a very Tre-oriented team, though may lead to some confusion.
Certainly impressive on paper and look forward to Tre showing us his ability to replicate
what he did last year in the league. We just need him to continue and
hopefully even grow his performance.
You never know, as Dukes probably wondered about Max, at least before he
played us.
But on what we've seen with our own eyes and his stats, looks like a quite solid
pickup for CC and staff.

Jacoi to Longwood. Best of luck.

@portal_updates·16m  George Washington transfer Jacoi Hutchinson has committed to Longwood. The 6’3” sophomore appeared in 33 games, averaging 6.5 points, 2.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.3 steals per game.

This is a solid, smart move for him.  He’s essentially taking a couple of steps down in League talent vs A-10  to reset himself and give himself a chance to show what he can do on a more consistent basis. He does his job and he can move back up if he wants to. To me this is a better strategy than Jun going to Rutgers where (in my opinion) he will have a struggle and not have the same chance to regroup.

Good for Jacoi. Longwood obviously got a good up close look at him in the Virgin Islands.

Re: 2025 Portal Info

Can't help thinking that Jacoi was given a little nudge out the door rather, if not directly than by being shown the handwriting on the wall.   Interesting that at the start of the season, when we were playing lesser competition, I thought Jun and Jacoi were the 2 best players on the team.   Then Jacoi went into that bizarre, protracted shooting slump and lost his starting job to Christian.  As the season progressed, he did come out of it a bit.  I also thought he was a stabilizing influence on the floor at the end of games, and was one of the few players I was comfortable with in a pressure free throw situation.   But Longwood?   Who voluntarily leaves GW for Longwood?

Re: 2025 Portal Info

Some updates within the conference:

Phil Martelli Jr. lands former top 40 high school recruit Ahmad Nowell who was not an impact player at UCONN this past season.  That said, he has a chance to join a long line of successful VCU point guards.

Malachi Smith, who wasn't the same player for Dayton this past season (was this due to lingering post-injury effects, a lesser supporting cast than he was used to, or both?), will suit up for UCONN.

Parker Moser is about to hire Justin Scott, Billy Lange's Associate Head Coach, as his new assistant at Oklahoma, and Xzayvier Brown is expected to follow him to Norman.  Huge loss for the Hawks.

Masai Troutman moves from Northeastern to George Mason.  13.5 points per game last season.

Keeyan Itejere moves from Marquette to URI.  a 6' 9" rim protector...how many of these guys does URI stockpile?

Point guard Jaden Johnson joins La Salle from ODU.  Jaden went for 16 points, 4 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 turnovers against GW, including 6-12 from the floor and 3-4 from 3.

Jaden Daughtry joins Richmond from Indiana State, where he averaged 13 points in 19 minutes per game,  6/7", 230 pounds, and a Richmond native.

Re: 2025 Portal Info

Missed Jacoi's commitment yesterday. I definitely think it's a step lower than he probably could have gone but it's a good opportunity for him to reassert himself at the Big South level with a new coach at Longwood.

My guess is yes.  Certainly nobody recently.  Before this madness started, A-10 discouraged intra conference transfers by imposing a 2 year redshirt rather than 1 year.

Re: 2025 Portal Info

Well our PF is no more. The clowns in admissions saw to that. He wanted to commit but he wasn't waiting until Moe, Larry and Curly in admissions figured it out. I won't say his name but somebody mentioned it up the thread relating to a Midwest PF. He's going elsewhere ... perhaps to a perennial top 10 program. Ugh. We make it really hard on ourselves at GW. Mostly self-inflicted. We say we want to win but the rest of the school needs to get on board. Some of our best players had issues with admissions. Had the current regime been in place, you never would have seen Yuta, Mescheriakov or Koul at GW. Wash rinse repeat. Just nonsensical when you consider that the same standards don't apply to the general student population.

Re: 2025 Portal Info

As for losing a PF, GW is now ranked in the 60's and below Maryland academically. We are no longer the academic wunderkind we thought we once were. We need to get over it and sign kids that can push the program forward ( our only moneymaker) or we will never rise above the middle of the pack in the A10! Again (the Lonergan fiasco, etc.) we have shot ourselves in the foot-- and for no reason. When was the last time you heard a player was academically ineligible to play. Can't remember that far back. We need to come to grips with reality or Patriot league here we come!

Some of both really. They took a long time to come to this bs conclusion. The sad part is when the kid plays elsewhere all of their "reasons" will look foolish.
