Thanks for the update. We needed it.
No admission drama please

Damn. Now I have to check the board every 15 minutes until there is further news.

Just what the doctor ordered. Keep the news coming.

I assume it’s going to be Luke Hunger from Northwestern. No inside info.

It’s official
NEWS: 6’10 Luke Hunger is transferring to @GW_MBB per his Instagram page. He will join incoming freshman Canadian — 6’5 Jalen Rougier-Roane next season.

Having never seen him play and basing this entirely on stats but why should we be excited for a 6-10 big man who shot 38% from the field?

He’s from Montreal, like the great JJ Brade, but he does not play with the reckless abandon of a crazy French separatist so I might have to change my screen name 😂
He seems like a big who can pass and rebound a little and I think he may be a better shooter than he’s shown in games.
Seems more of a Hansen replacement than a DBJ one.
Anyway, welcome Luke!

Hunger is the guy but the same little bird that flew in my window last evening told me we aren't done addressing the frontcourt nor the backcourt. I would expect one more PF type and a combo guard that can shoot. Stay tuned.

If he's meant as depth to back up Castro and slide into a big line up, he seems like a good get. I think we cam learn from Castro, that stats can be deceptive.
Things will become much more clear when we see who else is added to the front court.

Will reserve judgement on the big guy.. Not a great free throw shooter but also doesn’t appear to turn the ball over a lot (albeit limited minutes). Hopefully more of a ceiling than Stretch. Fills a gap at least.
Could the guard possibly be Providence’s Jabari Abdul-Rahim who just entered the portal? Maybe Castro reeling him in?

I think that’s a little unfair to Castro. His aggregate stats didn’t pop because of playing time. But his advanced metrics in the time he did get were not that far off what he was this year.
His Ortg was 110, effective FG% 68%, combined rebounding rate 29.9, block rate 4.9, steals rate 1.4.
All of those improved this year (except FG), but those were outstanding rates already in limited time.
Hunger’s numbers are not like that, but I suspect there’s a lot of untapped potential that can hopefully be realized dropping down a level.

If this is "great news" and the quality of player we are filling our needs with, it's going to be another mediocre season.
As someone used to say, we need Power 5 talent to compete in the A-10! Not #10-15 P-5 players who realize they want to finish out their college careers with a little more playing time.
Hopefully I am proven wrong. All I'm asking for is the type of transfer hits we used to get at GW - Zeke, Cavanaugh, Mo, etc. They are out there. CC needs to put on the sales pitch charm.

Part of the reason for the low stats is he was dinged up for part of the year. He had moments against very solid Big 10 teams when he was above solid. He’s a banger who hustles and could bring a lot to the table.

Hard to tell. Some good points on Castro. But even the guy we sought from Iowa didn't have impressive.
stats. Always hope for a Rafael or Zeke Armwood. But would settle for a Dokun, especially a senior year one (first a walk on by the way).
Good we're starting to land people. Think we were getting a bit apprehensive, given
the pace of the insane transfer marketplace.
We do need to keep stocking up on big men and shooters (though Tre D is a start).
Theoretically, we lost at least 3 big men, Although Keegan couldn't sniff the court and may have a shooting focus, he still was 6'11.
Certainly easier said than done, but that's the coaching staff's job in today's environment.

I'll definitely defer to you on when it comes to a deeper dive on stats. Good points
I just try not to jump to conclusions in general.
What do you think the coaching staff would be happy with in terms of #'s

C'mon Joel ... welcome to the world of NIL. If NIL had existed back then you never would have seen Zeke, Cavanaugh or Mo at GW. What was ML going to pay them with? Used basketballs? Different era unfortunately. GW is not getting high level P5 talent unless you want to donate an extra $2-3 million to the cause.

BTW he was recruited by Miami according to the interview video dmvpiranha posted in the recruits section. So Caputo was familiar with him just like the Castro situation.

Rising
Totally agree. With the drastic change in environment, it is impossible to compare recruiting with Jarvis Lonergan and Pender.
The rules have changed so much it is an entirely different ballgame

Glad to get a commitment after a few swings and misses earlier this week. Seems like he will be a serviceable backup for Castro. Still plenty of scholarships remaining for more additions. I know Rising mentioned another frontcourt player and a combo guard. Do we think we need a wing? It seems like we were close on Kam Craft and have shown interest in some other guys that are similar
