WBB added two transfers today: Emma Theodorsson from Loyola Chicago and Tanah Becker from Kentucky.
Theodorsson was the second leading scorer for the Ramblers (9.4 ppg) after previously spending two years at Bucknell. Her time in Lewisburg certainly caught the attention of Coach G - she scored in double figures in three out of her four matchups against Colgate in two years in the Patriot League, including 23 in the final meeting. It's definitely a plus that she has experience in the A10. Theodorsson is the second Pittsburgh native to join this offseason after Nya Morris.
Becker did not get much playing time as a freshman at UK, but is the kind of gamble that I'm glad Coach G is pursuing. I believe she had committed to the Wildcats under a previous coaching staff but stayed committed through a coaching change last year. What really stands out in her highlights is her defensive ability. She is highly disruptive on that end.
Overall, I think WBB has brought in some pretty promising players so far. What's exciting is defensively I don't think there will be a dropoff from the McCombs era, but on top of that we might actually see some forced turnovers finally. The two big questions entering next year will be offensive turnovers and three point shooting. I think Coach G can address the first to a degree, but she is going to be mostly coaching holdovers that won't fit her system so that might hold her back a bit from making significant progress there. That leads me to point #2 which I am less confident about (at least for next year) - the shooting. Morris improved her shooting every year in college, but I am not seeing much shooting on this roster at all absent some internal development. There's still a lot to be excited moving forward though!
