Based on what I saw this season, Christian should thrive at a lower level, get buried at a higher level, and if he remains in our conference or around that level, should feast against clearly inferior teams and struggle against the better ones. I can't say I'm overly upset about his deciding to move on (just too many deficiencies in his game) but am surprised that someone who started every game and would have been potentially in line for an even greater role next year is convinced he'll have a better opportunity elsewhere. I guess that grass is always greener...
It seems like a lot of the A10 is not looking for "better opportunities" on the court and just "better opportunities" in their wallet. There are so many guys who are entering the portal that really are just A10-level players and yet are seeing if they can make $5 more sitting on the bench at a P5 school.
If the "agents" were anything other than grifters, they'd tell the players that the Finnish league is just going to look at counting stats and all conference honors so it doesn't make sense for their pro career to ride the pine.

Actually, I am glad that all of these players are in the portal. We were a below average with them. Wishing the Treys, Garrett, Christian, and whoever else leaves nothing but good luck and good fortune
A complete rebuild is what we needed and now that's what we'll get. Raise High.

I wish our players would take a hard look at the history of GW transfers before deciding to leave. For every Jamison Battle there seems to be 3 or 4 Max Edwards, although I don't follow players closely after they leave GW, so maybe I'm wrong about that.
What we don't know now, and probably never will know, is which of these players Caputo tried to keep and couldn't and which he gently pushed out the door. I'm guessing he tried hard to keep Autry but Autry decided to leave to play his final year for his father. I'm also guessing he probably suggested to Bubu and Bevins that they would be better off playing down a level. I have no idea about Garrett or Jones. Caputo loved Garrett two years ago when he was injured, but he either never fully recovered this year or just wasn't as good as Caputo thought. Jones was a solid contributor but I believe Caputo brought him here to be a PG and he never seemed to fit that role.

The only person I really wish had stayed was Trey, and I understand why he didn’t. I hope Coach doesn’t think he’s already got his point guard in Jean.
Get ready for the “hard to incorporate so many new players” excuse, when that should have been an advantage this season.

Caputo probably has to approach it the same way the players do. He may or may not like the player personally, but there is no real benefit in worrying about who stays or who leaves when that is ultimately out of his control. And, to be fair, I think Caputo would leave GW in a heartbeat if a better opportunity came along, though I have a hard time imagining a much better offer materializing. At this point, both players and coaches are essentially mercenaries, following the highest bid.

The newly crowned national champions started five players who transferred in from other schools. They lacked experience playing together. They didn't require an inordinate amount of time to gel.
These excuses are excuses of the past. The vast majority of programs in D1 will find themselves in the same boat, or a similar one. Citing this lack of continuity should summon a similar reaction to Hobbs constantly pointing out how young his teams were, each and every season.

Let’s just say we don’t exactly have a coach who has gained a reputation of improving a team and getting them to gel through the season. He ain’t that guy.

Seems like a good fit. Bottom of the A10 team is about the right level for him.
Wish him luck, except when he plays us.
Also speaking of LaSalle, Thunde Vahlberg Fasasi is transferring to William and Mary. Hopefully he goes someplace we don’t play because that guy usually seems to save his best for us (including his best shooting game of his career vs us when he was at LaSalle, and 3 of the 13 games vs in his career when he knocked down three treys vs. a D1 team). Will be curious to see where he goes and how he does.

What was his injury to redshirt (presumably) the whole year?
We were overstocked with guards and he would have been the odd man out. So it didn't matter. Until we barely had enough scholarship players late in the season.
But we really have to look at whether it is worth it, with HS students or someone like Moss, who
may also have redshirted at S. Florida, if a quick look is accurate?
It worked quite smartly with Jones, but only for him to go on the open market. Don't know if Chaudri could
play or not. But if these guys are being paid at all, we have to consider our needs.
As painful as it is to use these terms, are we carrying unproductive payroll? Understandable if real injury, which could be the Moss case.
But nothing that made sense before (for example, Tyler Cavanaugh sitting out a transfer year and
winding up in the NBA--and even freshman year Jones).
No one stays for 4 years, even if we develop them in the year off, so does a non-injury redshirt make sense?
Maybe it does and there are reasons, but it's hard to see at the moment. At the very least we should consider removing the redshirt if we need scholarship players.

I’m pretty sure CC was trying to help the kid. He was not going to play, got hurt early, and they kept him out so he could get another year somewhere else.

Yes, not much more to the story.

GWRising do you think we are still in the upper tier of A10 NIL or have others caught up with us

St. Louis and Dayton have more NIL money for sure. I would think VCU does too. Davidson is probably another because of Steph Curry.
I am very confident that we have more than La Salle, Fordham, St. Joseph's, Duquesne and St. Bonaventure. I am less confident but think we have more than George Mason and Loyola.
The wildcards are Richmond and Rhode Island. So we are somewhere between 4-5 on the high end and maybe 6-7 on low end. Good enough to compete for most players who want A-10 unless St. Louis or Dayton really wants them and it comes down to who can pay the most.

Zam is back in the portal after averaging 11.3 ppg at North Carolina A&T last season.
Just saw Nik Khamenia entered from Duke as well. Once again, we can dream!
I think GW had outbid Loyola for Assui. Unfortunately, it seems like money did not end up being the problem...

Nik Khamenia has announced he's entering the portal.
In other legacy news, sounds like Villanova has the early lead to land Kwame Evans Jr.

This one I might believe because this wouldn't be the first time we've recruited him and he's local

The former four-star recruit spent two seasons at Butler averaging 9.5PPG, 4.3RPG and 1.0APG in 2025-26. Has two years of eligibility remaining.

That tweet is wrong. He spent one season at Maryland and then one at Butler.
He’s a tricky guy for a team like GW to recruit. He is mostly a catch and shoot guy, but has the potential to be an elite shooter - except that he hasn’t been his first two years. Shot 34.5% from three last year, but only 31% in conference. Shot under 30% at Maryland. He also has extremely low assist rates, because he’s mostly a shooter, with a usage rate under 15%.
What I wonder is how much money a guy with his Maryland/Butler pedigree and potential can get in the portal. You don’t want to give him too much, because he’s really like a 4th option type of player, not someone to build around.
I woild love to have him at GW, but not if his NIL demands would make him one of, say, the two highest paid guys on the team.
