With one Montrealer out the door in Luke another one arrives in Felix. He attended the same HS as incoming recruit Promis N'Landu (Fort Erie). In two years in Boulder, Kossaras was not a high-usage option, using 13.7% and 12% of possessions in his freshman and sophomore years respectively. It's interesting that his usage actually went down in year 2 despite starting more than half of the games he played for the Buffs. The question becomes how he translates in a larger role. Last year at Colorado Kossaras attempted roughly three shots a game.
The defensive metrics weren't particularly kind to Kossaras, as he had a -0.31 DBPR per EvanMiya - fourth worst among their "top players". It was an especially tough start to the year for him, as he fouled out in two of Colorado's first three games - two of which were against Big Sky competition (Eastern Washington and Montana State). Perhaps a transfer down to the A10 will help. Kossras was better than that afterwards with the fouls but the other concern was that he saw his minutes plummet at the end of January. Kossaras also lost his starting spot, but given the performance of freshman Isaiah Johnson (who transferred to Texas this offseason) it's hard to argue Tad Boyle's decision to make the change.
One thing that's been interesting so far is the number of switchable/wingy kind of players CC has accumulated so far between Arceneaux, Kossaras, Rougier-Roane, and Chaudhri. I do think size matters so I like the pivot as well as the change in approach to go after high-major transfer downs instead of the LM/MM transfer ups. GW will still need some scoring from the backcourt, and there's still plenty of spots to fill.
Welcome to DC Felix!
