Re: The 2026-2027 Revolutionaries

7 more!

Will Wade has 0.  Yes 0 (at least according to the interweb).

Will be interesting to see what the NCAA does about NIL amounts and transfers.  They gotta do something.

I believe Vincent Chaudhri is now in the portal.

So to recap at this point:

Aranguren
Arceneaux
Witherspoon
Kossaras
Rougier-Roane
N'landau

Now have to address the frontcourt in a big way.

This is 6 players and we have 15 scholarships so there should be 9 remaining now that Chaudhri is in the portal and Assui is not coming (are we ever going to get confirmation of that? News he's going elsewhere?)

Re: The 2026-2027 Revolutionaries

I wonder how many players graduate from the schools they started at?  Aside from the military academies.

Is Amir Arrington sticking around? Is he a scholarship player?

Re: The 2026-2027 Revolutionaries

Military academy students can transfer before they start their third year and avoid a military commitment.

Think Amir is a walk on.

For what is worth. BTW Overall rank takes into accout both incoming transfers and outgoing transfers.

Evan Miya's analytics shows why the staff made the effort to keep Aranguren

Jon Rothstein @JonRothstein 25m
Georgia transfer Dylan James has committed to GW. 6-9 big man averaged 4.5 PPG and 3.8 RPG last season.

Re: The 2026-2027 Revolutionaries

Welcome Dylan James!

Kind of a woo replacement.  Another really solid signing.  Played 15 mpg fo Georgia.  Quite many games, but had 13 and 13 vs Texas A&M.  Another guy with excellent block and steal rates.

Weirdly he shot 38% and 40% from three his first two seasons, but then went just 1-17 last year.

We’re building a long, switchable team.

Re: The 2026-2027 Revolutionaries

Looks to be more of a Hunger replacement. I don’t think he is a slasher like Woo.

Re: The 2026-2027 Revolutionaries

Dylan appears to be a banger (always welcome) with length, who enjoys mixing it up underneath while also venturing out beyond the arc. Things seem to be taking shape.  As I scroll the portal site, my wish list would include adding a lightning quick point guard to break presses like Rob Martin from High Point (probably too pricey) and do we dare venture a big man like Dixon from Duquesne?  Just day dreaming.

You’re right. Not a slasher. But two years ago he primarily played the 4 next to Asa Newell (I watched more of them two years ago than this year).

Re: The 2026-2027 Revolutionaries

Glad we're getting big men.
Note to bigs: look what we did with transfers Rafael Castro, Luke Hunger and Tyler Cavanaugh, who
was an NBA player.
You never know, but sure looks like a good pickup with plenty of potential.
And the word "banger" is a very welcome thought to our interior play.

Unless I missed things but along with more size we need some shooters

Seems like a depth signing

NEWS: NJIT transfer Malachi Arrington has committed to George Washington, his agents at Edge Sports/SSM tell @LeagueRDY. The 6-foot-11 sophomore out of Somerville, New Jersey is a high upside big who’s expected to be a strong contributor in George Washington’s front court next season.

Re: The 2026-2027 Revolutionaries

Given how expensive the Center market seems to be, I'm not sure how likely it is that Arrington is going to be a depth piece as opposed to a legitimate contender to start. If he's a back-up, I like this signing, but I'm worried we could be headed for a Stretch 2.0 situation. I hope I'm proven wrong, and separate from my partially baseless concern over our Center rotation, I'm left feeling optimistic about the roster. Really need Caputo to coach to the peak of his potential next year.

I'm think and hoping he's a depth piece (not a budget breaker)

Re: The 2026-2027 Revolutionaries

So as of Sunday night, I believe our roster is:

PG - Aranguren
PG? - N’Landu (don’t know if he’s a pg or combo guard at this level)
Wing - Arcenaux
Wing - Withersooon
Wing - Kossaras
F - Rougier-Roane
Big - James
Big - Arrington

Looks like a roster really committed to defense.

Plenty more scholarships to go, playing time available.

Arrington went 4-6 from the floor with 4 boards (and three quick fouls that reduced his playing time) against GW in 2024. I wonder if GW inked his deal after the stud from Utah Valley (who I assume GW tried to woo) stayed in-state and signed with Utah.

Re: The 2026-2027 Revolutionaries

First things first.  In response to Florida Colonial's posting the A10's Transfer Class Rankings, my response to FWIW is that it's worth nothing.  Absolutely nothing.  Transfer rankings have historically skewed towards programs that are bringing in a lot of transfers.  We all know that a school bringing in three transfers should sometimes have a higher class ranking than those bringing in 5 transfers, but this is hardly ever the case.  More importantly, after the season we've just experienced, let's please not rev up the hype train yet again (with the exception being the one poster here who can't help himself when it comes to overhyping this program).

Next, it should be becoming apparent that CC is switching gears (and should be applauded for doing so).  Last year's team shot 35% from 3 averaging more than 28 three point attempts per game.  It loses it's two best three point shooters when factoring percentage and volume (Trey and Tre) along with it's arguably most naturally gifted long range shooter in Garrett.  (Perhaps CC indicating that the offense would be playing differently in 2026-27 helped prompt the Trey and Garrett transfers.)  For the past two seasons, CC has been attempting to replicate the NBA model on offense and has discovered that it's really hard to do this at the A10 level.  The nation's top programs often land the best outside shooters and can execute.  Exceptions like Miami, Ohio can take advantage of subpar defenses not getting back in time to defend (and even with their run and gun nature, still averaged fewer three point attempts per game than GW.)  But at the A10 level, the long range shooting isn't quite good enough and the defenses are more than athletic enough to disrupt.

None of this should be interpreted to mean that GW will abandon the three point shot.  It's a legitimate part of the game and will of course still be incorporated.  However, 28 three point shots per game will likely decrease to somewhere in the 15-20 range if I had to guess.  Instead, we are bringing in players who can accelerate and get to the foul line.  That old Lonergan goal of making more free throws than the opponent attempts should be revived.  Expect to see more zone defenses from opponents who actually play zone a bit.
